Great little Fly Fishing store with experience staff and a brilliant owner. I stopped by looking for algae flies for milk fish, for a trip to the Seychelles. They knew what I needed and helped me select materials and an awesome new vice. The shop is not large, but it does not need to be, as they don't have have access to everything you might need. COVID has been tough on retailers, pushing people to online shopping, but we need to support professionals like the guys at Patricks, who have local and international knowledge that is so helpful in making prudent purchase decisions, learning where to go and what to do when you get there. read more

Since my first review of my casting lesson with Jimmy, I got pretty hooked on salt fishing and purchased a Sage 8wt method, Sage reel, and full line setup from Patrick's. I am completely happy with my purchase and what Jimmy and An Ren guided me to, and over the course of many visits they have provided me countless hours of advice on fishing, flies, where to go, etc. I caught my first chum salmon this year with their advice, that was quite an adventure. I go to a lot of fly shops, but Patrick's is by far my favorite. It was my non-fishing spouse who first went there when I asked for a fly rod for my birthday and I've been a client ever since. The staff is helpful with deep knowledge about fly fishing in the Northwest. The selection of flies is excellent and if they don't have the other stuff you need--and they probably do--they will gladly order it for you. As a newbie fly fisher, I love this place. They are always helpful, offering tips on any and everything from what flash to use in a fly to the best "hot spot". And they look out for their customers first. Several times I've gone in with a specific item in mind to buy, and, although they had that item, Jimmy let me know there was a better item for less $$, carefully explaining the merits of both items. I have been going to Patrick's for flies, gear, and advice for several years. Patrick's has the best employees: friendly and eager to share their wealth of knowledge. Today, however, I had the most unpleasant experience I've had in any retail business I can remember. The owner, who I thought was being rather abusive towards his very helpful and friendly employee essentially told me to take a hike while I was paying for my flies, "Just take your bugs and go!" This is a good little neighborhood fly shop. They have pretty good selection and their prices are pretty reasonable. Honestly the only downside is that the employees can seem a little snooty. I've been fly fishing for 7 years and tying my own flies for 2 years. They still managed to make me feel dumb when I came in to pick up supplies. These guys are great. I had to buy a 5wt trout rod and some flies and general gear for a trip I was doing to the Gifford-Pinchot wilderness and they were fantastic. Early on my spouse encouraged me to invest in casting lessons from Jimmy, who I've found to be an excellent teacher: Patient, observant, precise and extremely clear in his instruction and corrections. I fish 50+ days a year now and Patrick's has been my regular fly shop for years. I've purchased everything from waders and boots to rods, reels, lines, and packs there, each of which has proved to be a quality product well-suited to my needs. Over the years, I've also taken tying lessons, rod-building lessons, and casting lessons. When you think of the best teachers you've ever had on any subject, once you've had a lesson from Jimmy LeMert he'll be right up there among them. There are lots of places where you can get the gear, but when I need advice as to what to get, how to use it, and where to use it, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Jimmy, Bob, Jim, and An Ren all use the equipment and flies they sell and they fish the region routinely. As I've ventured out from Puget Sound to fish elsewhere in the country and internationally, they've also had good advice and been willing to refer me to people with more local knowledge.
