My husband and I have been coming to Patient Friendly Dental for about two years now. After we moved into the neighborhood, we looked online for a dentist nearby with good reviews. We are so lucky to have selected this group of dentists! Although I have been good about keeping my teeth clean over the years, my husband has neglected his (long before I met him). In fact, he hadn't been to the dentist in decades! Fortunately, he had Dr. Lina Koffman and her friendly assistant to care for him. At first my husband wanted me in the room during his cleaning, but as he returned for subsequent visits (if you haven't been to the dentist in decades, they need to work on you more than usual), he felt comfortable enough that I was sent out (by him) to the waiting room. He was never apprehensive after this initial visit as he knew he would be well taken care of. The assistant even recommended an electronic toothbrush which he says helps with him brush more accurately. We recently went in for a cleaning and my husband was happy to inform me that his visit went well. I am grateful for Dr. Koffman, her assistants, and fellow dentists for helping my husband and for the wonderful atmosphere they have created. read more

The staff at Patient Friendly Dental is extremely warm and friendly and very helpful in every way. I have been to this location a few times and ironically it seems like a lot of the actual doctors don't necessarily always know what they are doing. I have been accidentally prodded and even cut on the side of my mouth here unfortunately. I will also say that the decor needs to be completely thrown out in the waiting room because the chairs literally look like they have wet mold spots on them and it's very unappealing to sit on. It's actually so fitting that this dental office is named "Patient Friendly Dental". Because that is literally what it is! From the outside it is unappealing but I feel like that was intentional. Don't judge a tooth by its enamel?! Got it! I hadn't been back to a dental office for over 2 years for insurance coverage reasons and because I was fear-stricken to get any procedures done. Nobody in the field of dentistry has ever made me feel at ease and reassured like this place. From the minute you walk in you just know you're in good hands. Such a clean + maintained space. You are greeted by the most professional Office Manager--Sandra Ayesh. We had prior contact via phone calls back and forth. She was extremely thorough in ensuring she got my insurance information correct after having difficulties. Super sweet and delightful to deal with! I was really taken back by the young lady, Kenya, who did X-rays of my teeth. Very professional + efficient! We shared a little bonding moment too over being the oldest sibling. Such a sweetheart. Lastly my dentist--Alan H. Block. So warm, welcoming, professional and the sweetest man ever! Reminded me of my Grandpa so much. I used to go here when I was a kid! My parents grew up in Ridgewood but moved out on Long Island when I was born. My dad continued to go over the years and I would go with him too! When I went off to college I would go to other dentists closer to me, but my overall experiences with them were horrible. I just recently went back and I am so glad I did! Everyone in this office is professional and so sweet! Dr. Block has been practicing for a long time and is very knowledgeable. One thing I really appreciated is that no one tried to sell me anything extra. Other dentists I've been to try to force orthodontal work or fluoride treatments (both of which always cost extra). No one here does that. They are clear and honest about what needs to be done, and I trust their opinion! The hygienists are quick and on the ball! I had a cleaning and cavity inspection done AND made an appointment to revisits in less than an hour! The entire office is clean and updated. Not to mention if you are physically disabled, they have a chair lift to assist you up the stairs to their office! Since this is in Ridgewood, parking can be tough especially in the weekends. Try to park down a side street, near Mikes corner deli or down by the park. Overall, I would highly recommend this dentist no matter how far away it is. I travel about an hour and I would do it over and over again. It's hard to find a trustworthy and professional dentist, but this place has a great track record and many years of exceptional service! UPDATE: Wow this is place is great! I had to go back for some fillings and I am so happy to say it was the easiest and most pain free experience EVER. Usually feel the poke of a needle? NOPE! Usually have pain or discomfort after? NOPE! I did not feel any pain or discomfort during or after my fillings, like I normally have at other dentists. I am a tough critic and can be hard to please, but Patient Friendly Dental met my expectations and so much more. I live in New Jersey and drive to Patient Friendly Dental (located in Queens) for my dental work. I am petrified of the dentist and needed had to have a root canal procedure. Angel (the assistant) was warm and friendly. Dr. Bobby was by far the BEST endodontist I've ever had. He was quick, knowledgeable and made sure I was comfortable, and in no pain (which I wasn't). I had a follow up for my crown with Dr. Lina who was also warm, friendly and overall amazing. The facility is clean, there was no wait time and everyone is extremely professional and friendly. My husband and I have been patients at this practice for over 4 years now. We found them through our insurance company search engine (so glad we tried them out). Our dentist is Dr. Alan Block (brother of Dr. Dennis Block). He is wonderful. Always very accommodating and comforting with great sense of humor. Even when I kept having troubles with my crown I had as many appointments as necessary without any extra charge. The office staff is very great and nice (big thing for NYC when so many people are harsh and rude). I was also very pleased to notice that they do whatever they can not to incur extra cost on me. My filling turned out pretty good as well, and it has held up pretty well a few months later. I had a root canal done here and I am very pleased with the result. Everyone at this office was very friendly and was always accommodating. I don't have dental insurance, which made it difficult to find an endodontist that wouldn't charge me an absurd amount for the job but would still do professional work on my tooth. I found Dr. Block and his group here on Yelp and when I went for a consultation they offered me a large discount and helped me set up a payment plan through CareCredit (I got the discount because I already had part of the procedure done with my general dentist, but it was a fair discount nonetheless). The endodontist who did the actual root canal seemed to be very skilled. My case was a little more complicated than the average root canal (with multiple canals in one tooth) and I was told I might have to go see an endodontist with more advanced equipment. They managed to get the job done anyway, and as far as I can tell they did a good job. Two days after the procedure was when I actually started feeling pain, and it was the worst tooth pain I've ever felt - not you're typical toothache. I called up Dr. Block's office to let them know what was going on and they managed to get me into their office immediately (and this was on a Saturday). I arrived at the office and Dr. Block himself gave me a lidocaine injection to numb the pain and a prescription for antibiotics which took care of the issue in no time. Since then I had two visits for the post and the crown. I wish I could remember the dentist that I saw for those visits because she was unbelievably nice and friendly. She was always making sure I was comfortable, kept me informed as to what was happening at all times, and always had a smile on her face. Same goes for her assistant. Anyway, the crown was a great fit, and as of now I haven't had any complications or issues with that tooth. Thank you everyone at Dr. Block's office for making this decision worthwhile. read more

I got an appointment within a couple of days and the receptionist was extremely helpful figuring out my insurance plan/coverage. Dr. Koffman was the first dentist I have seen since moving to New York and I could not be happier, everyone from Sandy her office manager to the dental assistants are always so kind and helpful and take the time to talk to you and get to know you. They even answer the phone late, once I was confused on my bill and called in a panic and sandy immediately called back to thoroughly explain everything to me. They help you with explaining what insurance will cover and never pressure you into any extra treatments or services unlike some dentists. You can tell dr. I've been going to Dr. Dennis for at least 15 years. Because of dental abuse by a union dentist when I was an adolescent my teeth were constantly drilled so that by the time I was an adult they were in various forms of deterioration. I needed lots of restorative work, lots of care and someone that didn't make me feel bad about my teeth. I had moved into the neighborhood and decided to try Dr. Block and I was happy I did. After 2 visits I can say that this is the best dentist I ever had. I was looking for long time for a good dentist that would do the dental implant in a reasonable price. My previous dentist was always finding reasons to get done expensive procedures, even though other dentist did not see the necessity for it. Implant itself and bone graft was put by Dr. Iyman who was very professional and he did a great job. Only time when I felt pain was during injection of anesthesia. After that no pain at all even he was drilling whole in my jawbone for the implant. Also Dr. Iyman explained everything including any possible complication, how to further take care of it, showed me how the implant and the extra bone looks like and even made pictures of it in my mouth to show me. However, I always have a lot of questions so it could be a bit aggravating. Dr. Block was also also very professional and kind. I feel like both of them: Dr. Iyman and Dr. Block care about their patients. He made impressions and very good looking temp crown. Previously I had a bridge which looked kind of pathetic, because one fake tooth was very wide and other very narrow, which made my smile look kind of weird. Now I feel like my smile looks natural. Thank you Dr. Block! Assistants and office manager were also very friendly and professional. What's even better, the day after surgery I received a phone call from them just to check how I am feeling. I had an amazing experience at this office! I went in to get my teeth whitened and was very nervous, but the hygienist Cat was absolutely amazing! She put me at ease and was so sweet and kind. I did the Zoom whitening and it was great!!! She did such a good job and explained the entire process thoroughly! I had an unfortunate experience today with damaging my front tooth crown which became very loose. A friend recommended this dentist since it was close to my home. I called the facility and was greeted by a professional young lady who obliged my request for me to visit him for this emergency. So I went and from beginning to end, my visit was friendly, informative, professional and joyful. The dentist, Dr. Block was just as friendly, cordial and informative. The offices were all very clean and tidy. There is a happy ambiance throughout. This mattered to me. Fortunately, he was able to do a temporary repair on my tooth with a return date to have the permanent crown installed. I am so happy to have visited this dental office today. I used to be a patient at this dental office for quite some time. During my visits there, I would not complain much about staff itself but overall the environment is very shitty. It made me question many times why do I continue to come here as Dr. Block was not my only option for my dental care. Over the years, (I was seeing both Dr. Block and Dr. Koffman) for about 3 and a half years where I visited for routine cleanings and limited cosmetic procedures. I am writing this review out of concern for the staff. Within the two years I have visited the office the staff was always, and I really mean it, ALWAYS changing. I've only noticed familiar faces a few times. Most of his staff are always running around and overworked. I have heard Dr. Block being very aggressive and seeing the look of embarrassment on some of these girls are very concerning. Most look very young, presumably in school and deal with everything he throws at them. It's sad because I remember many girls starting off so happy and end up looking miserable to eventually being gone. It seemed to me like someone was always in training. I began to feel very much concerned when I never paid a copay at all. In between visits I went to another office for a second opinion in which I found I was only covered about 80% for a potential filling. Of course I did not want to pay, so I went back to Dr. Blocks office and was told I had to pay absolutely nothing, everything was covered and the office manager stressed to me to ignore an EOB sent to me, it wasn't a bill and I would not be charged. I went forward with treatment and weeks later I recieved a bill for over $300 dollars and other treatment I never ever received. When I called the office to clarify, whoever I spoke with was extremely rude and seemed to be attending to something else. She did not clarify why I had other charges and procedures when I initially went in for just ONE filling. She told me to ignore the bill and not to worry about the patient responsibility. When I spoke to my parents they informed me that the bill could backlash on me and the manager or biller could reflect the amount back to me. I called two weeks later and asked to speak with the office manager who is never in. When she called me back she was full of herself and told me " i told you already there would be no charge so why are you overreacting " if you ask me that is EXTREMELY unprofessional as I am pretty young myself I did not have much knowledge on my dental insurance. it is disappointing to even say i was a patient there because overall the quality of the office is very poor. the staff is always in limbo and extremely unorganized. they literally harassed me one summer and called me over 15 times begging me to come in for a cleaning and offering me gift cards. sounds like a scam to me. 1 year since I have not been a patient there and it really upsets me to see all these fake reviews. I have witnessed many upset patients with similar issues and i find it very necessary to expose the behaviors and habits this office runs on. they max out insurance and promise no copays but send a bill in the mail months later expecting you to pay right then and there. They are always begging and bribing people for reviews and that to me is very fishy. i would not reccomend this dental office and it is time for dr. block to retire. his attitude and demeanor has drastically impacted not only myself as a patient but mutual friends of friends i know who have had very similar experiences.
