The middle aged Indian people at the counters should know how to pack vegetables, so it is not a training issue - they seem to just not care, and so they don't pack the bags properly.
They throw soft vegetables with hard groceries squashing them in the process. The high school kids at Market Basket do it better, and they are just kids, these are adults we are talking about.
Contrast their attitude with that of the 80 year old Greek owner of a small - medium size software company, he has a 12 bedroom house with swimming pool and tennis court and one day I found him cleaning the counter top in the office restroom. Looks like everyone but Indians have forgotten Gandhi, even those from his own state of Gujarat.
Respecting the work you do, is like 101 of being a responsible adult.
Today we got our own grocery bags which save them money, but they would not pack the bags. They only pack if they use their own plastic bags which makes no sense.
They also don't know how to accept returns and come across as rude. They need training for sure. Just get the high schoolers if it is difficult to find people who care, they will do a better job and be grateful for the money as well.
They had a great opportunity in their cafe to make flavorful food, but I can tell you it is made very poorly and I would not recommend taking their takeout except for very specific items which again can be good sometimes or suck badly some other time. Even college canteen food in India tastes better - and they have more facilities here.
Highly diluted sugarcane juice, curries with more cream and less vegetables, which give you an upset stomach, you get the idea. Forget the taste, this is not food which can be consumed even once a week, forget daily. Imagine the lost opportunity here for single people who could have got their lunch from here daily if the food was edible.
Some issues are because of the general apathy of the people who work here who don't seem to respect the money they get. So everyone else should work well, but you are too good to do your work yourself?
Some issues like the cooked food quality is something the business can improve themselves. Hold yourself to higher standards, please.
The toilets are dirty and should be cleaned regularly. There is a slight improvement in the checkout area, now the lady throws the grocery like garbage at the nice people who place it quite well in the grocery bags. I guess that is some improvement.
