Stopped in to shop for a new gas stove and was greeted by a gentleman who walked us through the pros and cons of the floor models. He was extremely helpful and patiently answered all of the questions my mom and I had. We were pleasantly surprised to learn he wasn't even a sales associate, but a service technician. Unfortunately, when we were handed off to the front desk, the level of customer service dropped a bit. I had to ask about the warranty and return policy myself, as this information wasn't explained before the total was presented. The delivery process went well. Two service technicians removed the old stove and quickly installed the new one. They were very patient with my mother and took the time to thoroughly explain and demonstrate the stove's features. They even went back to the store to retrieve a copy of the appliance manual, which was greatly appreciated. We've scheduled and they rescheduled several times because the technician never showed up or even called to let us know they weren't coming. We've been told contradicting things from "of course we can get that for you" to "no way we can get that" with zero follow up either way. It's irritating and unprofessional at best. Like we shouldn't expect basic answers about things or even a day and time they'll show up. We even purchased appliances from them. But crickets on anything else. We can't get responses regarding other items, big or small. Will you be here on this day within a certain timeframe? No answer or yes but then not showing up. We want and do support local businesses, so this has been a disappointing experience. No respect for our time or basic needs. read more

I have dealt with Pate for years. Walked in to replace a washer at 8 am and at 10 am I was washing clothes. I went in again to buy a dishwasher and the guy told me how I MIGHT be able to fix mine for about $20 with stuff from Kroger. That was 5 months ago and I still haven't bought that dishwasher. I called Pate appliance to schedule a repair to the my Samsung washer, and was beyond blessed to have one of the owners answer the phone. I explained what my machine was doing, and he was able to walk me through the process to fix my machine over the phone! It was a simple "add water to the drum" issue that is not reflected in the manual and also not disclosed by Samsun's service department. Pate could have easily scheduled a service call and charged me, but they were honest and told me how to fix my issue! (As a point of reference - Samsung was going to charge me $200 to come out and other appliance shops quoted around $100 to come out and diagnose). These are absolute nicest and most honest people to work with. They will not try to get you to buy anything if you don't need it. Ryan came out and fixed my fridge today. He explained it was a start/stop switch that was bad on the compressor. And that my compressor most likely wasn't bad. In the mean time I had bought a new ice maker 3 days before my fridge had stopped working. He told me to let it run for a few days and don't put the new ice maker in yet. He saId it could have been the switch causing the ice maker to act up. Anyhow he was courteous and professional as it gets. I called Pate to repair my microwave which went out suddenly. The serviceman came out and replaced the fuse. He tested it and it worked fine until he left. It ran a couple minutes and the fuse blew. Scheduled another appointment. He came out again and replaced the fuse. He tested it again and it worked fine. He left and it blew again after a couple minutes. He came out a third time and replaced the fuse and 2 small door switches. It went out again. He came back a fourth time and checked it and said it needed a magnetron and that it would cost .$300-$400 to repair it. I was so upset I called Frigidaire as the microwave was only 13 months old. They sent a serviceman out. He said if the magnetron was bad it wouldn't heat. He replaced all 4 door switches and it has been running fine for the last 3 weeks. He also gave me a tip on how to keep the door switches from burning out. Very disappointed that I paid Pate for a service call for nothing. They also never sent a receipt. They were recommended by Lowes but I'll never use them again. read more

Great service! My repairman, Tom, arrived during the scheduled time and even called 10 minutes prior to arrival, giving me time to leave work and meet him at my house. After diagnosing the problem with my dryer, he checked Pate's records on my account and found that the damaged part was still under warranty. I had no idea -- thanks, Tom! The name needs changed. It should read something more like "Pate Appliance Sales and Home Service". They do not service anything at their location. For those that don't want to read the wall of text below here is the short version: Avoid it and go to either Erie appliance or George's on Hanover Street. They may seem a little more "hole-in-the-wall" but they care and will help you if you're on a budget. The female clerk/desk jockey or whatever she was was rude and unhelpful. When they told me they no longer serviced appliances at their office I asked "Well where would you recommend I take it?" She sneered and said "Home, or wherever you got it from". Then went on to say "It cost just as much to have it serviced at home as it does here." First of all, she didn't offer any proof to prove that point. She said it and expected me to take it for gospel. The guy behind the counter had nothing to offer either. They didn't even try to show me any services they did offer in home. They basically wanted nothing to do with my business. Afterwards I took it to two other repair shops to see what they had to say. After being informed of the same circumstance with my washing machine (too costly to repair) They were both very helpful and helped me make an informed decision that would yield the quickest and most cost effective path for me. I actually think that they didn't want to help me because I was dirty from head to toe from work that day. I cut out a little early to try to get this taken care of. I believe I was looked down on. I hadn't thought of it at the time but it makes more sense the more I think of it. read more
