I spent over $200 to have someone )Nick) look at my 19 month old LG dishwasher and was told the Control Panel was defective and had shorted out, because water had gotten into it. it would be $650 to repair ( I paid $699 for the compete dishwasher). I also have a problem with the ICE MAKER on my 3 year old LG refrigerator. That also was going to be in the hundreds of dollars to repair. I contacted LG directly about my problems and was told the Control Panel on the dishwasher was under warranty?? Why didn't Nick tell me that?. A-1 was prompt a coming out, knowing they would collect their inspection charge. After that, no help at all. I did contact A-1 and explained about what LG had said, but I received an explanation that they would have no way of knowing about the Warranty on the Control Panel. That shocked me because when I did my research and spoke to them (Tracy twice) I had read that they were a local LG representative. read more

We typically use another provider we like but they don't repair Bosch like A-1:( We liked that they are headquartered nearby, were super easy to book, promptly resolved, & proactively added service details into contact info. for future / historical use. Used them in the past once or twice some years back. Never again. Just off the phone. Called for service 2 days ago. Was told somebody would be calling 8-8:30 and would be out after specifically rearranging my day to be available in the morning and asking for an AM appt. Got called a little after 8 thinking the tech was on the way. Was told it would be 2-4pm. Said that was OK but I didn't appreciate the 6 hour+ delay. The young guy could not bring himself to apologize (on behalf of the company - I didn't call him at home or on his free time, etc.). He finally gave a half hearted apology but told me he was going to have his (also young?) supervisor call me to cancel (it's Friday). Didn't cuss or raise my voice. Just asked them both if they had been in the conversation at the original call and was told all their calls are perfect and the fault was mine (I mean have enough sense to politely lie, not argue about something you weren't there for; or heck, give one of those hypothetical fake apologies - don't lose repeat business). They didn't like me laughing I guess but I couldn't help it. Their ego should not be all you are feeling when you are the customer on the wrong side of a CUSTOMER service call, esp. when you meekly accept their unilateral changes. Call me weird. I've done weekend, overnight call centers, landscaping, tax prep, training, etc. none of my bosses would have been happy with either of these folk. :-D What are you going to do? (Well, call a place with a $20 less service fee for one thing - that includes it in the repair price. Done.) Just sad, and pretty much forgotten after this rating post. (Unable to give 0 stars.) If you are actually the owner, you become the 3rd person at your company acting as a witness to something you weren't there for. I have three appliances down: dishwasher, dryer, garbage disposal. I called three other supposedly reputable appliance service companies in Cincinnati that showed 4+ star ratings but each one was a dead end: The first was closed (I called at 4:15 p.m. on a Monday) and got a recording instructing me to go online to request service, which I did, however, after filling out the information requested, it froze and would not prompt further to schedule the appointment. I tried it all over again with same results. (Frustrating! ) The second company I called was closed (I called at 4:20 p.m. on Monday) and had a recording saying to leave a message, which I did, but who wants to wait until someone calls back? The third had someone answer who was obviously young and ill-informed; she sounded very ignorant and as if she was an answering service, with poor English and difficult to understand , so I changed my mind about pursuing that company. (Note: All three of these companies I was referred to after calling highly rated appliance supply companies.) Then I finally called A-1. I was not referred to them; I merely chose them based on their 5.0 rating. So far, in my opinion, A-1 is the only one of these 4 companies that deserves higher than a 3,0 rating because they are still open before 5:00 p.m. on a Monday, they have a live person answering who was kind, polite, well-informed and well-spoken and they gave clear details of when I will receive a call back to schedule service. She asked me questions about the appliances and clearly explained the process of how a repairman will get back to me and exactly what time they will do so. She did not rush me and was courteous, spoke clear English, and friendly. THIS IS WHAT MOST BUSINESSES LACK THESE DAYS. I will happily give my money to this company just by virtue of this beginning experience. So far they have a 5-star rating in my book. I've used A-1 twice, first time for a washing machine. The technician was Trevor, pleasant, effective and seemed a reasonable price. second time... not effective or worth the price. I had a refrigerator needing love, great shape, functional but not optimal, gasket at door ripped, handle on freezer drawer missing, water filter needing changed. A single door gasket and a filter changed cost $589 For a ?25 minute service. The next morning I have water leaking into my basement and under the unit... not calling A-1again. A sale at Lowe's I can get the same unit new $1200. Ouch. read more

Our ice maker stopped working--then started leaking huge amounts of water. We turned it off but when that didn't stop it, we needed to unplug the refrigerator. Called A-1 on a Sunday, they got back with me on Tuesday and Mike came out to do the repair Tuesday morning. He replaced the ice maker and, when we let him know there had been a problem with the installation of the freezer handle, he ordered the parts we needed ($10--a bargain!) and came back the next day to fix that. He was friendly and professional--and the people I spoke with in the office were as well. Mike was right on time the first day and flexible on the second day when we needed to ask for a different window of time for him to arrive. Highly recommend. read more

We have used A-1 Appliance a couple of times over the last few years. One was a particularly difficult dishwasher repair. Another company could not diagnose the problem. Trevor from A-1 came out probably 5 or 6 times and finally figured out what it was. This was an expensive Miehle so we wanted to fix it as it was just out of warranty. Then our LG washer started leaking and he came out within 36 hours and figured out it was a leaking hose inside the machine and all he had to do was cut it shorter and reattach and the cost was minimal. We will always use them for appliance repair. read more

I have used A-1 many times in the past and they never disappoint. I usually get Dave, although I have had some of the other servicemen. They are polite and do a great job - if anyone can fix it they can. I just had them out to service my new Bosch dishwasher - turns out - there was nothing wrong with it - but Dave showed me how to use it - things that were NOT in the manual. I want to give credit to technician Mike who came out to our home twice and fixed both broken appliances. The best experience is when our washer broke and displayed 2 error codes. The washer has been broken for nearly 1 year before we called A1 Appliance Service company. Mike was able to find a plastic toy stuck in the drain hose. Now the washer is fixed and for 14 straight days we are able to wash 28 loads of laundry with no error codes. The washer is nearly 8 years old and runs just like it was purchased yesterday thanks to Mike at A1 Appliance Service company. read more

Prompt and Professional but Expensive. I sought their services because our washer kept on filling with water. I found it fairly straight forward to set up the appointment. Our tech was Matt. He promptly explained and diagnosed the issue. Getting the part took 2 days, but again he quickly repaired the washer. He was also able to accommodate our schedule. Overall, good experience, but fairly expensive. Personally, I am fine with their higher prices because of their professionalism, since I did not want to keep dealing with the issue. read more

He did not charge us even though we had been told and had agreed to pay for service call even if they were unable to fix our dishwasher. Service tech called & texted me with approximate arrival time and when almost here. Technician (Trevor) was very professional and personable. I just set up an appointment for A1 to come to my home to do work on my gas range igniters. They charge $84 for the visit, which is about average. I said I would ask them to look at my ice maker on the fridge and the receptionist said "that would be another $50" for the visit." So they were going to try to charge me $134 for a visit. So they lost both jobs. Be smart enough to get money off of your service, not just the call "A1". read more

Arrived within the 2 hour window that was stated, described the issue, took care not to damage the floor or cabinets. The repair man (Mike I think) was very courteous and done within 30 minutes. Had a small gas leak for my Frigidaire stove, and found that A1 was a factory certified service company. The staff was very polite and the repair man was very professional; he showed up on Friday morning when he said he would and fixed the leak. However, when fixing the gas leak he turned off the gas supply into the house which caused the pilot on the hot water heater to not go back on when the gas was turned on. I realized I had no hot water on Saturday and was unable to relight the pilot in the hot water heater (Turned out there was air in the pipe). A-1 was closed on the weekends so I had no hot water the entire weekend until Monday when they came and took the air our of the pipe. For the amount they charged they should have checked the hot water heater before they left; or at least had a phone number I could have called during the weekend that they answered. Not sure if I would use them again. read more

I forget the technicians name but he was a tall slender man and very knowledgeable. He came out to check out my fridge and told me exactly what was wrong with it and how much it would be to fix. Disappointed & SURPRISED as to amount charged. I was told that for a $89 service call fee the service technician would perform diagnostics and then give me an estimate to repair. Turns out this is not how it works. Diagnostics took an hour and 15 minutes. Technician concluded that problem was not with range hood controls/wiring and was with an exterior mounted exhaust fan, which is part of the system. I was also SURPRISED to learn that the technician would NOT do any diagnostics relating to the exterior fan due to its location. I said I wanted the connection from the range hood to the fan wire checked. In doing so a loose wire was discovered; which turned out to be the problem. I was told that the bill should be $239 but he would give me a break and only charge me $209, then after speaking with his boss, changed it to $189.95. Invoice was for $203.25 but does not itemize sales tax. Technician unable to provide hardcopy receipt prior to receiving payment check. Would send email of invoice but only after I had paid. I find no fault with the technician's knowledge and skill to diagnose the problem. I explained to the technician that a different appliance repair company, A-Budget, which I have used in the past, has a service call fee which includes so much time to diagnose the problem. I mistakenly assumed A-1 Appliances operated in a similar manner. My range hood exhaust system is a high end Broan-NuTone brand. I called NuTone and A-1 Appliances was the only company they had on their list for the Cincinnati area. That is why I called them to start with. I hope my comments help you make an informed decision when selecting an appliance repair company. read more
