But once you start heading onto the path, you discover that there is more to this place than you see from the parking lot. If you want to get right next to some small waterfalls, like touch them with your fingers, this is the place to visit. The waterfalls are smaller, but I liked that we could get up close to the water and experience it in a tactile way. Being right up in the water's business allowed for some really great photos, too -- the waterfall area is a great place to take photos. The hike through Indiana Run Falls is very easy, but there are some areas that require walking up and down steps, so it might not be the easiest hike for someone in a wheelchair or pushing a stroller. Otherwise, this is a great place to visit, and it's a good hike for kids because it's very short and sweet.

The main playground by the shelter and the service building is big, with multiple areas, and is accessible for almost anyone- stairs on several sides, and a level access off to the right. There's a music machine, always popular. Lots of climbing stuff and slides. Some games. Musical areas, mazes, balancing stuff, and more. Shades on the top of most of it, though the slides can get hot. Also plenty of benches, though no shade for those. Dublin has a lot of good parks. This is right up there. Worth a detour if you have kids.

It's really relaxing to watch the water and wildlife from the bridges. There are several athletic fields, including some very nice baseball diamonds, and a shelterhouse with restrooms. The playground is located near the ponds and is extremely cool! It is nicely worked into the landscape, taking advantage of varying heights with a lot of neat ways to get up and down to the various levels, from boulders to jump on, giant stone steps to take, slides, stumps to step on, and the like. There is a great zip line that kids can easily work themselves, and it really picks up some great speed. There are climbing walls, nets, and musical elements. It looks like there is a really nice water play area during the warmer months - it has a nice flow down the hill, over rocks, under logs, and ending in a sand area. We definitely want to come back again when it's warm to check that out. A paved multi-use trail is also available. We really enjoyed this park!

Prairie Oaks reminds me of the days when I was a child and would wander free running much like my dog around parks. I truly miss those good ole days but try to relive my childhood through my pet who is much like a little child. This park has over so many acres of land for dirt paths, woods, ponds, etc. What is there not to love about this place? Except why I don't live nearby! I swear if this was much conveniently closer, Bella and I would be visiting this place on a daily basis for walks and play time. There's nothing like being in a metro park with fresh air and beautiful nature surrounding you. Many of the Metro Parks, though you can take your furry friend, do not allow pets on many of the trails. And if they do, it's a boring paved trail. Not at Prairie Oaks! This place loves dogs! Pets are allowed on basically every trail- and some are gravel, some are beautiful dirt paths, all through the woods and around the ponds and through the prairies- simply gorgeous!! There is even an off-leash area where your pup can hop in the water and splash around! I've always though this park to be too much of a drive, so I hadn't gone until now. But it's only ten miles outside the West Outerbelt, and only about a mile off the freeway- very convenient, and you feel like you're much farther away from the city than you are. I can't wait to go back. Maybe I'll go today!

Not much of a much. Maybe it is being rebuilt? But there is a small building with bathrooms and what looks like it will be a nature center, and tons of trails up and down the hills. Surrounded by development, but fairly quiet, at least on an early spring weekday afternoon. Saved because of its creeks and hills and gullies, surely. Lots of shale outcrops, some decent elevation changes, well-developed paths mixed with more basic ones, decent parking. Far from our usual routes, but worth a detour.

A small park tucked between a quiet neighborhood and a river, with a short boardwalk to a beautiful…read morewaterfall. The flow of the falls will fluctuate a good bit, depending on the season or rainfall. When the water levels are low, there's not going to be much to see. But after a rain or snow melt, this waterfall becomes pretty impressive! The boardwalk can become slick in shaded areas. Keep in mind that you're directly behind people's homes & yards, so be respectful of the shared space.
