Again in a situation I somehow always find myself in recently, I overestimate restaurants' operating hours (even in the very late, late night Portugal lifestyle) and end up wandering around searching for food. This was one of two places open in a four block radius, and it looked pretty popular so I walked in. I was promptly helped and told there would be a five minute wait -- no problem, gives me time to peruse the menu (with English translations) outside.
They were out of the shrimp croquette I ordered (settled for pork instead - it was just ~okay~), and apparently they only sell pork bifana in the day and carry out or something, but my server got me one after my meal (misunderstanding -- I thought he meant I just wasn't getting one). I had the grilled cod, which was pretty decent. Excellent texture, good portion, and reasonably priced, though I thought it could have used a little lemon. I also had to wait a long time, but understandable because I was their last customer, and the servers apologized profusely for the wait. The pork bifana was extremely dry and nothing special.
Overall a decent place to stop for a bite. I would come again to try the seafood rice, which looked really good. read more
