We were sat immediately and chose to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. There aren't many tables inside so keep this in mind during the busier times. The owners are the most adorable young married couple and both are incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients, and the wine list. Told us that they make all their pasta from scratch and import a lot of their ingredients from Italy. You can absolutely taste the love and care they put into their dishes. I ordered the Gnocchi and it was the best I've ever had. They are a little firmer than what you might be used too but still amazing and that tomato sauce and cheese was incredible, you could taste the freshness in every bite. My mom got the special and forgive me for not remembering exactly what was in it but it was also amazing. Definitely worth the stop!

Every interaction was memorable. Every bite, superb. We didn't want to leave - and the staff didn't want us to. From the Italian-sourced bread to the Burrata with prosciutto di Parma (everyone should live a little and try this) to the variety of homemade pastas to the multiple desserts and coffee we indulged in, we stumbled out of there upset that we had to leave. I told them as we left, we finally found somewhere in all of Houston we enjoyed more than our own food. And my wife is an incredible chef, so that is saying something, believe me. I'm never going anywhere else for true Italian cuisine. Those who work here, thank you so much. We were blown away by your kindness, understanding, your love for knowing multiple languages and how to make a restaurant feel like home in Italy. Thank you all so much. Wow. Updates of Texan eateries I like (1 of 2)…read more The food, the service, the small store ambiance, the parking situation, and the value are still excellent at Ivett's in League City. There should be no need to write an update. I see that my initial review was written about 5 years ago. This is about how they handle the transferral of totaled tabs to the credit card. When I go to the Houston area, I usually eat lunch at Ivett's twice a week - yes, it's that good. And it's doable because I tend to stay in their "Bay Area," which is south of the city near Space Center Houston and in the suburbs adjacent to large Galveston Bay. Here's what the deal is, and this happened last year and a year or two before that. When I get the bill, it's usually a number that has cents attached to it, thus an "uneven" sort of number. To this, I add a tip. If the final bill were to be $12.72, for example, I might add $2.28 to bring it to an even $15.00. (I've asked restaurant employees over the years if this is weird and they tell me they have customers who do this.) Fast forward to the charge hitting the credit card. In 2025, one charge went through a meaningless few cents higher and one charge went through without the tip altogether. I've never worked in a restaurant, so I don't know how the process works where the final bill is sent over to the credit card company. In this situation, I came out ahead. But that's not the point. I want the employees who were my servers to get their tips and get what I indicated on the copy that I signed. This same exact sort of scenario showed up a year or two before when I also visited twice ... with one lunch charge coming across without the tip. Another lunch charge must have been processed with an even dollar amount as the tip. Again, I came out ahead, if you even want to look at it that way, but I want the employee to get his or her tip. The price-quality-quantity here remains at 5 stars. That's why I have filed Ivett's away in my head. I've now landed on the pattern of lunch specials that I like in any given week - a chicken dish and the manicotti dish, so I come in for those. I did try the lasagna once and, since this is in the U.S. of A. and not fine dining, they use the thicker undulating sheets of pasta that I'm not a fan of. It's to be understood. It's what most Italian-American restaurants do. That dish might come in as a 4. I applaud Ivett's for being a small restaurant that is intent on serving its customers and its community. However, if the tip for that one customer's meal is $2.28, $2.74, or $3.11 because the customer is seeking to hit a "normal" looking final number, then it's $2.28, $2.74, or $3.11. And, if they don't enter the tip at all, then I feel bad because the employee didn't get their tip and it makes me feel cheap ... cheaper than I already am to some people. Fix this little clerical issue by instructing your employees how to do so ... and keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing you all (translation: y'all) the next time I'm in the area.

They have decent space inside, but it's not ideal for very large gatherings. The decor and atmosphere is obviously Italian bistro. Outdoor seating is limited. Their menu is simple and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Tuscany Bistro, likes most Italian restaurants, does have a vast wine selection. They don't have a kids' menu or make pizza. The only pasta they have is penne pasta, and they don't offer a create-your-own-pasta special. You can only pick a protein you want added to your pasta. I wouldn't get the blackened chicken, because the herb crust makes it very rich. There was only one waitress working while I was here, so our order arrived BEFORE the complimentary bread. Unlike their cuisine, their bread rolls are NOT homemade. There's no desserts on the menu either. Tuscany Bistro is an OK place, but it was not the best Italian dining experience.

So, we went to Frenchies Italian Restaurant and pleasantly surprised by the excellent meal and service. We had Chicken Parm, Veal Parm, and Seafood Fradiavolo. Growing up in Brooklyn, I certainly know good Italian food. We live a few miles from Sal & Judy's Italian Restaurant which is outside New Orleans and rated 5 Stars (Yelp) and Zagat. Sal greets everyone that comes in and their marinara sauce is sold in all the local supermarkets and Walmart. Frenchies was no different from Sal's. Everything was perfect! I told Sal and he went to eat at Frenchies on his last trip to Houston. He called me and thanked me, that's Sal. I was sad Franco's closed after 50 years in Clear Lake but Frenchies was a great find. If you're ever on the North Shore outside New Orleans, try Sal & Judy's Italian Restaurant and decide if they're equally as good. Or, take a look at their website! As soon as the call connected, the lady asked if my reservation was for 8 people. I said no, I had just made a reservation for the following day at 11am and simply wanted to make sure everything looked fine on their side. She responded "oh okay," and never once mentioned there was any issue, overbooking, or possibility that our reservation would not be honored. We hung up, and naturally I believed everything was confirmed. The next morning, we arrived on time for our reservation. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere already felt uncomfortable. The staff stared at us without greeting us until a woman finally approached and asked if we needed something. I gave the reservation name, and she looked through a notebook full of scribbled notes before saying she couldn't find it and would get the manager. A man came over, asked for my name again, and then bluntly stated, "We don't have you on the list. We're fully booked until 8pm." I was honestly shocked, especially because I had specifically called the night before to confirm everything. Instead of apologizing or trying to help resolve the situation, his demeanor felt cold, dismissive, and as though we were inconveniencing them simply by showing up for a reservation we had made and confirmed. He then stated, "We emailed you stating this." Because there was already a line forming behind us, I simply said "okay" and walked out. As we were walking to the car, I checked my email -- and sure enough, the "email" had been sent at 9:55am THAT SAME MORNING. Our reservation was for 11am. Cancelling a reservation barely an hour beforehand on Mother's Day, after I had already called to confirm the reservation the previous night, was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. This was supposed to be our first time trying this restaurant, but unfortunately the experience and the way the situation was handled left a very sour impression before we even sat down.
