I read a review that said this place was life changing... they did not lie! The whole experience was top notch! Pasta e Basta is near the marina so the view is perfect. We opted to sit inside but the outside patio is perfect for a meal. We started with the shrimp with mushrooms and corgette. The shrimp were tasty with a natural sweetness to them. A great start to the meal. Plus the drinks... super tasty and refreshing. Our waitress was more than amazing! She made suggestions that were spot on and explained everything so well. You get to choose your pasta and the sauce. With her recommendation, I got the ravioli with truffle cream. The ravioli was perfectly al dente and the truffle sauce was a great addition. No regrets! My sisters meal was delicious as well. So simple but so good! We were truly stuffed but had to get dessert. This was the best tiramisu I have ever had. Super light and fluffy, you felt like you were eating air. We also got the poached pear. I literally wanted to drink the juice from the melted ice cream and sauce form the pear. My wife and I came here on Friday, September 12 just as they opened, and we're glad we booked early because the place filled up quickly. The view was awesome, the food came fast, and the portions were huge. I had the Puttanesca while she had the seafood noodle, both dishes were excellent and among the best meals we had during our trip through Southern France and Italy. The service was good, efficient, and no nonsense, which kept the evening flowing smoothly. Stopped in Ventimiglia over the summer during a quick day trip to Monaco from Nice and have to write a long-overdue review for this place because it was the highlight of my visit. The strozzapreti with shrimp and lemon sauce is absolutely to die for!! I still dream about it sometimes... generous portions of fresh prawn in a light, creamy and zesty lemon sauce that makes you wanna just drink it up Creme brûlée was overcooked however; while I would recommend any of their entrees, I can't say the same for their desserts, as we tried multiple and they were mostly subpar. read more

We sat near an interesting 79 year old Austrian man who was dining alone, and we had an enjoyable conversation about the history of Europe. After a day in Nice and Monaco we decided on a run for the border in search of the best Italian food we could find. Pasta e Basta was amazing, Very fresh pasta with a wide array of sauces. Despite their silly, but undeniably catchy name for an Italian restaurant, this place had it going on. This was the first Italian spot we found after crossing the border from the French Riviera, making it an easy stop for anyone over that way. (Just saying!) It was late, they were closing soon, and still told us to come by. Super nice people. It's attached to a hotel, which upon arrival after seeing had me a bit skeptical of the quality of the meal I was about to have. I was wrong for judging. It's pretty legit! As you're seated they hand you a plate with samples of the freshly made pasta they offer. There were definitely some varieties on there I had never heard of, which was very cool! Kiddos loved this too! Their menu is really fun and allows for some creativity. You can choose from one of their many pre-designed dishes or indulge in the pasta of your choosing paired with one of their many sauces and add ons like some fresh porcini mushrooms and such. There is nothing like freshly made pasta cooked perfectly al dente. I had forgotten just how good pasta in Italy is, and this place surely reminded me! It was INCREDIBLE! Add the flavorful sauces and it's unreal! 5 star for taste without a doubt. We decided on mixed mushroom ravioli and tagliatelle with fresh chunky pomodoro and basil sauce topped with with shrimp. The mushroom ravioli came mixed with a nice variety and generous amount of meaty mushrooms. Yum. My daughter was a little freaked (ok, a lot freaked) when the shrimp came to the table in full regalia haha I had to perform some "dissecting" I wasn't ready for, but afterwards, all was good and everything was so well liked! Actually, LOVED! My daughter kept asking to return here the entire trip, and we had many pasta meals in Italy. This one stood out. It was a memorable very first meal in Italy for the girls. We made really a great choice and I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with a meal here. Portions were hearty and filling! We ordered two plates between three of us, and we STILL had leftovers. No room for dessert, but everyone was ordering the tiramisu and enjoying limoncello, which are the fan faves, obviously. Like many others we made our way here from Nice and Monaco, excited to hooper the borderer for dinner. This is the first "real" restaurant in Italy, coming from the west, and a convenient way to say you had dinner in Italy. Knowing we're in someone else's home, and we only speak english, we tend to be humbly demure and polite. This paid off here, where their english wasn't strong but better than our French or Italian, and they were friendly and understanding. The food however was not what we would call exceptional, or even better than most decent Italian American establishments. The pasta definitely shined, with a great tooth feel and fresh taste to it. The Gnocchi pasta was better than average, but a notoriously difficult pasta to nail the texture on. The sauces however weren't that great. My wife ordered the lobster dish, and it had VERY little meat and even less lobster flavor in the sauce. It definitely didn't contain all the meat from the half lobster shell it came with. My Gnocchi had decent mushroom flavor and a reasonable amount of shredded meat,but wasn't that memorable overall. the narrow drive to the restaurant takes you by a small sit down pizzeria, just around the corner as you drive in, and it has good reviews on Google. If we were there again, I'd go for the pizza or just go back to France for dinner. But it was a fun little adventure, and not entirely regrettable. read more

Homemade pasta, yes please! Ma and I were in Italy momentarily (staying in Menton) as we were on a trip to France, but we needed to go to Italy to get our fix, so to speak. There didn't appear to be much open at the moment and we had no clue as to where to find good pasta, which is what we were craving...So we stopped a stranger on the street and asked! Ma explained (in her broken Italian) that we wanted good homemade pasta and the stranger told us about this place. We arrived a few minuted before they opened and studied the menu to know ahead of time what we wanted. We did have to catch the train back to France. Ma settled on penne and pesto, while I went for the gnocchi in walnut cream sauce at Ma's urging. She had a good point - how often do you see walnut cream sauce on a menu, especially where we come from?! And I'd only had it once before in Florence. Ma is a vegetarian and I wanted to share her pesto so I went with her recommendation. Service was excellent and quick, food was fairly good. I actually liked eating the two pastas together because I wasn't in love with my walnut cream sauce, however the gnocchi were heavenly little pillows of love. Ma loved her pesto and the portions were HUGE so we had leftovers to take away. Like all Americans we stuffed our faces and took off. Little did we know, the last trains were canceled so we shared a cab back to France with other stranded strangers. Adventure! If I'm ever back in this town, I'd definitely eat here again because I can never get enough of good homemade pasta, plus the location across from the sea is ideal and the prices were fair! read more

They come out in large serving bowls so it's not weird or uncommon to share. We went at noon on a Friday and it was busy but not crazy. Pasta at its best. We traveled to Italy for a day from Nice to get our fill of delicious pasta and this place did not disappoint. It's located in the old town of Ventimiglia by the new marina that they are building. The location may be a bit sketchy, but the food is awesome! There was also a nearby seaside restaurant that was more expensive and it was surprisingly more empty than Pasta e Basta. Why? Because it's the place to be in town! With over 1000 reviews on Tripadvisor, this place is a must visit for pasta. They cater to many French tourists, as we were given a French menu. We did not try the specialty dishes, just the traditional ones. It's quite simple - pick your pasta and sauce of choice. Portions are HUGE for the price. You can probably share a dish among 2 and add a dessert. We did not make any reservations but was able to get a table around lunch time. Since Ventimiglia has their siesta from 2-5PM, I would suggested coming here before 1. I will definitely be back! Must visit if you are ever in the area!!!! read more
