Jennifer was able to teach us a swing dance over about 3 months and made the whole process so fun for us. We practiced every other week where she would teach us a new step or two to expand on what we learned the lesson prior. The whole staff here is friendly and the environment is positive and fun. Their hours are really flexible too - I was worried that I would have a hard time making it her after a late work night but Jennifer was able to accommodate us and see us for 8:15pm lessons! I would highly recommend Jennifer if you are looking to learn a new dance for a special event or just want to try something new with your partner or a friend! They seem to always be hosting parties and group classes so it would also be a great way to meet some new friends!

They do it purely for the competition and experience and the camraderie. DCI is a wonderful combination of athleticism and art. I've been a huge fan since 1988, and growing up in LA, I was excited to be in the Bay Area where two of the top drum corps in the nation were nearby (Concord Blue Devils and the Santa Clara Vanguard). My first experience with DCI ever was in NJ when they were the Garfield Cadets (they've also been formerly the Holy Name Cadets, Garfield Cadets, and Cadets of Bergen County). The Cadets are an interesting mix of tradition and cutting-edge progress. The Cadets have essentially the same uniforms from the 1930s. They are known for a wide variety of music in their repertoire, often pushing the artistic envelope of innovation. The Cadets have performed music from West Side Story, Candide, Mass, Jeremiah, On the Waterfront, Wonderful Town, Fancy Free and Concerto for Orchestra. They have also performed music by John Adams, Aaron Copland, David Holsinger, Gavin Greenaway, Johan de Meij, Philip Sparke, Jan van der Roost, Bjrk, John Williams and Frank Ticheli. They're the 2nd-most successful corp, winning 9 championships (2nd to the Blue Devils 12). They dominated the 80s winning 5 championships between 1983-1990. The Cadets were guests at the 1996 Summer Olympics and in 1986 they performed for President Ronald Reagan at the Statue of Liberty Ceremony in New York City. I've always been a huge fan of the Vanguard, Blue Devils, and now Cavaliers, but I have to grudgingly admit the talent and success of the Cadets. I didn't particularly like their 2007 show but the execution was nearly flawless and they were in competition for 1st this year up until the end.

We have been part of this family for alittle more than 5 years. My two granddaughters go here and they love it. They have many dance classes all the way from tiny little dancers to adult classes. I'm being told the paint in the ponytail was not faded and running. And yes they did have other things at the event. I was not looking by for a full refund. But it is a PAINT PARTY and the painting was ruined. Now I understand why they only have 3 stars.

We attended another successful event at Hammer & Stain! It is now in a new location, on Stangl road…read morenear the Flemington Black River & Weatern Railroad. This area seems to be building back up and I really hope it is!! There is so much opportunity here for a place that is great for day trips. The event I attended this past time was a Mommy and Me painting event. I took my 6 year old and we had a good time. The instructions were easy enough for him to follow and there was a basic outline that helped us paint in the right areas. After painting the kids were able to stuff their own penguin plushie which they really enjoyed! As we finished up the plushies, the cotton candy machine came out which all the kids were super excited about. The cotton candy was bigger than their heads and everyone got a real kick out of it. It was a really well executed event and we had a lot of fun. It was a nice way of getting out and avoiding screens on his day off from school.
