Visited this place with a friend who had been there last year and enjoyed herself. I was excited because it was my daughter's first time at a haunted house. We purchased the VIP which at 45 is about the standard.. Even though the VIP line wasn't long, the wait time was longer than I'd liked with paying the higher price, but after reading the reviews, I guess we did pretty good! It gave a fun, spooky touch to have the characters playing along with us while we waited in line. Once we inside, I was impressed by the detail of the experience.. they definitely put effort into this part which was appreciated. There were a couple of different sections, including a hayride. Overall, it was more of a fun, entertaining experience, not necessarily scary.. that's good when you have a easily spooked 10 year old present. read more

This event is special for more than just the Haunted Mill experience itself. It's a tradition for many locals. I've been to the Haunted Mill many times myself but this is my first time reviewing it. The ambiance is fantastic. The buzz that's going on around town, on Main St. and at the mill itself is such a wonderful sight and experience during the fall season. All the shops are open and they are filled. The actors from the Haunted Mill walk Main St. entertaining everyone along the way. The actual Haunted Mill experience itself is amazing. The fact that the entire production is put on by volunteers (as it is a fundraiser for the Red Mill) is astonishing. The level of detail put into each building is beyond creative. It amazes me how they're able to keep it new and fresh every year. Now, everyone attending knows that these monsters aren't real and so it's up to everyone to come with a good attitude and a willingness to get into the creepy, scary mood. If you're not getting scared or having fun then, I think you need to look seep within yourself and wonder if maybe it wasn't the best day for you to visit. Yes, the lines are long but that's to be expected. Part of the fun is hanging with your group, chatting and getting spooked by the actors that sneak up behind you. This should be a five-star review. Each weekend evening in October, community members rally behind a centuries-old mill that has turned into a museum. They decorate the inside of the historic building and the nine-acre property to resemble a house of horrors, prison for the insane, graveyard and other Halloween-themed sites of horror. Volunteer actors don monster costumes, get their hair made up in scary styles, get squirted with fake blood and equip themselves with the appropriate implements of mayhem -- chainsaws, sicles, machine guns, etc. Lighting and sound effects are wonderful. A hay ride after the "tour" of the mill is fun. Walking through other staged areas is spooky and amusing. BUT... Five reasons why this Halloween fund-raising event for the historic mill in Clinton, NJ, isn't worth the hassle: 1- it's disorganized. 2 -- Wait lines are excessive (likely 3+ hours for those arriving even an hour after dark 3 -- only 10 people can go through the mill at a time. 4 -- unless you like the performers at Renaissance fairs, you will end up slugging someone who sneaks up behind you and yells "huzzah" 5 -- there's no seasonal food or drink to help those wary of standing in a cold, grid-locked line A candy apple or hot cider isn't too much to ask. A chilled shot of Jack would be better 5a - the rent--a-cops on Segway scooters look like tools and could really benefit from the exercise benefits of walking I spent $125 and drove my family from NYC to attend. We arrived at 6:15 and didn't leave until almost 10. My 1973 backyard carnival to fight muscular dystrophy was better organized. read more

Well, where do I begin? The place is high quality and means business, but that doesn't make up for what happened to me and my friends. First we waited in line for over two hours- this place is very popular. And, when we got in we were very ready to go. 10 minutes in however, I passed out cold. My friends had to yell at the people in costume to drag me out. I woke up a few minutes later and was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. It turned out I wasn't the only one that night either. I recovered quickly but when My friends called to either get a refund or a ticket for another day we were told that, quote, "none of our staff recount anyone fainting that night" and weren't given any sort of refund. Keep in mind we had lost over $150 that night. If they had simply given us our money I would have no reason for writing this review. BEWARE. read more

The Haunted Mill prides itself on doing this for 30 years, however if you dig one long line plus another long line before even getting in, then waiting in another line for the tractor ride, plus another line to get into another building and then finally a line to get into the mill itself, I highly recommend this "experience." I understand the actors are volunteers, however when paying $30 pp ($45 for their supposed VIP line) we kind of expect a little bit more energy. Don't do the VIP tix. You will end up in line like the rest of us losers. read more

I visited the Haunted Red Mill along with 5 friends on Saturday October 19th, 2019. We had to wait in line for two and a half hours before finally getting in. At the end of the second section of the experience, one of my friends passed out inside of the room. The actors didn't take us seriously at first until they realized she needed help. We were almost immediately rushed out of an exit and taken to the front. At the same time, an ambulance showed up and placed her on a stretcher and took her to the hospital. The Mill didn't give us an option to continue right after it happened. We wanted to continue through the house but couldn't at that point. A few weeks later, I contacted Paul the director of the Mill. He denied the entire thing including that we were refused re-entry. I was asking for a refund since we paid $30 per person and didn't get the entire experience. He didn't offer anything and instead accused me of lying. read more

3 sisters ages 42, 55 and 59 went and we had a blast! Probably the best Halloween Haunt I have ever been to! The wait maybe a tad long, but like anything good in life it's worth the wait. The hold up may be the fast pass people... They shouldn't have it! But then again, if you want to spend $45 for the fast pass, it is for charity, go for it! The tour itself is about an hour, they do have apple cider and snacks... Go have fun! read more

If you are looking for a fun Halloween activity this is the place. For $25 you get a haunted house, hayride, terror trail, and a very cool spinning vortex. The line may be long but it's TOTALLY worth it. The actors have great hair and makeup and the decorations are very cool. Love that you go in small groups so that everyone gets a good scare, not that front and end of the group scare stuff. read more
