2nd review ..5+stars-same as 10 years ago! I had to order 2 new awnings after the house was freshly painted this year. Dave, the owner, did me a huge favor and squeezed me into his appointment schedule...which is typically packed, so I was extremely lucky, because we were going to be out of town for a month and awnings take 8-10 weeks. My original awnings are 10 years old and are still looking great! Don't bother with lower quality...you get what you pay for and it's worth the wait. BUYER BEWARE!!!! They took a VERY LARGE DEPOSIT from me in October '21 and THEY have ALL gone completely MISSING. You cannot leave a message, they don't have an email address and the owner's number rings and rings and rings....rolls over to their main line. YOU CANNOT LEAVE A MESSAGE. THEIR answering machine MESSAGE SAYS, "YOU'VE REACHED US AFTER HOURS" when calling during their posted biz hours. I'm out a large chunk of $$$. read more

This awning company came with rave reviews but we have been extremely disappointed. We were promised a new awning before an event and now over a month after the event, still no new awning. We had to call to find out what the status was. Poor customer service. This is really disappointing. They installed awnings for me that were beautiful and lasted 14 years. When I had them replaced with identical fabric, they seams dissolved after 5 years. I spoke with David who lamented that the fabric was no longer being made, but "don't worry; we'll make it right." (Honestly, if they just had them re-sewn I'd probably get another nine years out of them.) Then he ghosted me. Messages and a hard copy letter all went unanswered. read more

We had Pasadena awning replace three awnings on the back of our house. One of the fabrics that I loved had been discontinued for over 2 years, but Dave was able to source it for us anyway!! There had been some issues with fit and thread type that arose during the installation process, but Dave handle everything to our satisfaction and made sure I was happy will the final product. I am!!! They are all beautifully done and Dave even extended our warranty to make sure we were happy. His customer service is great and the workmanship of his crew is excellent. read more

I have been a long time customer of Pasadena Awning since the mid 1990's. We were always happy with the product and customer service until recently. Without getting into all the details, I will just support what others have said that the owner has ignored numerous phone calls. My husband and I have each been able to get through one time with a reasonable explanation given by David Lopez along with "I'll get back to you in a week" then nothing more despite multiple calls. Those calls are either connected to a message that it is after business hours (at 10:30 am-11:00 am on week days) or to his assistant who says he is out in the field (really? It's raining cats and dogs). She takes a message and says he will call back. He never does. I thought I was the only one with this problem until I came to Yelp to look at the reviews. Worst customer service ever! I do not recommend Pasadena Awning and judging from the multiple one star reviews with the same basic complaint, it's safe to say this is a hard pass. So sad that being a long time customer, doing business with the same owner means nothing to him. read more

Don't let the nice website fool you. As a business owner, I was quite disappointed with the poor communication and slow service of Pasadena Awning. After paying half the cost up front, I heard nothing from them after two weeks. Nothing at all. After calling THEM first, I was told that most projects take a month to install. That would have been nice to know beforehand, as my new business was without any signage still. Very annoying when you plan to open in 2 weeks! After sending them a highly detailed layout of the simple work I wanted done, (and I don't think they even replied?), they still screwed up and did it very much like THEY thought it should be. The generic default lazy ass sort of way. I am the paying customer right? Oh yeah, almost forgot there... I addition, the owner Dave ALWAYS shows up at least 30 minutes late! How tacky as an owner! The only thing they are efficient on is taking money from your account. They actually did it the same day they finished the project! Wow! What service! ....months later I went to SARK AWNING for a similar project, and he not only did it MUCH FASTER, but for LESS $$. read more

Can't get them to get samples in the mail. David came out promptly in July to measure and give an estimate and promised to mail along samples so my spouse could help choose the color. He evidently forgot to have the office send out samples, since two weeks went by with nothing in the mail. I called the office to ask about samples and got a line about 'Oh, well sometimes they're not in stock. We'll send them now." Never got them. Called ONE MORE TIME last week, they promised to put them in the mail and confirmed that they did. One week passes...still no more samples. I called today and the office manager said, "Well, I sent them." I asked her to send them again. In the meantime, I'm looking for another awning company. Three strikes and you're out, Pasadena Awnings. read more

We did a remodel of a 1925 Tudor Cottage in Highland Park Fall-Winter 2015 and we were on a tight budget, but thought awnings would be beautiful. I brought in 3 bidders and assumed Pasadena Awning would be the high bidder because they're a larger vendor. But their price was competitive and I'm so glad we went with them. Dave came out to do the bid and plan the design and he is a class act. I wanted something a little creative and he was very willing to work with me. We ended up with black and white striped awnings with 'spear' topped poles and they absolutely transformed the house. Very easy from bid to installation and I'd definitely use Pasadena Awning again. I had a wonderful experience with Pasadena awning and couldn't be happier! The owner David came out and wasn't pushy at all very helpful and nice. He gave me guidance and he brought pictures which also helped me figure out what I wanted! He told me they were running about 2.5-3 weeks out, they had it done in 1.5 weeks. I would absolutely highly recommend them to my friends. I also priced my job out with 2 other companies and one was the same and the other was more expensive than Pasadena Awning! The office assistant Lupe was also extremely helpful with scheduling. We used my old frame and I told her I needed it removed asap and the guys were out the very next day. read more

Pasadena Awning did a terrific job with the awnings in Spring 2020. However, we did not like the spear finials. I told the owner, Dave, and he said he could replace them with ball finials. So I return the spear finials to him shortly after installation. Dave told me that it might be awhile before he could provide replacement ball awnings because of COVID delays from China, which I said was fine. Since that time, I have left multiple messages for Dave to find out the status. He only returned my call once and promised to send someone out to install the new finials, but they never came. Now, he will not return my calls. I have offered to pick up the finials and also have told his secretary that it is fine if they are still out of stock, please just call me back and let me know. It is now 2021. This is ridiculous - I am reasonable and just want to know the status. Not a way for a business to be run, very unprofessional. read more

I had Dave give me an estimate but it took me over a year to actually pull the trigger on an awning for my large deck. My only regret is waiting. Dave actually honored his original estimate, delivered and installed in under 2 weeks. Everyone at Pasadena Awning was wonderful and the installers did an amazing job. Interesting to see the other no so good reviews. Several friends had recommended Pasadena Awning. They were the fourth company that I got an estimate from. Not only were the most reasonable, they delivered on time and the new awning is perfect. The salesman offered great advise. Other companies tried to over sell. Let's face it May/June must be the busy months, but they were on time with my installation. I will contact them when I decide to add awnings to my front porch. read more

We've been using Pasadena awning for the awnings on our craftsman home for years. All are custom and the oldest is at least 13-15 years old or more and looks like new--no fading or holes. Both the awnings and frames are made to last. We've never had a problem with their service. I found their prices to be reasonable for such a quality product. read more

These guys are great! I contacted Pasadena Awnings to have two awnings installed on the front windows of my home. I didn't want the standard spear finials and Lupe and David researched until they found exactly the style I wanted. The fabric was ordered, cut, special finials in place and the awnings installed just a few days after I placed my order. I didn't even have to be at the house, they did a perfect installation and the house looks so much improved. Lupe was very patient and I enjoyed working with her. I'd highly recommend them - very honest, quick and quality people that know what they're doing. read more

David Lopez installed an awning on our home about 10 years ago. It has lasted well and gave us no problems until a bad wind storm (of which we have several each year) loosened some of the mounting hardware. That was last night (12/4/17). I called Pasadena Awning first thing this morning, they were at the house within 4 hours and made the necessary repairs immediately. I appreciate the durability of their materials and quality workmanship. Their prompt response to our repair call, after a decade, makes me even more happy to have chosen them in the first place! read more

I have employed Pasadena Awning for window and door awnings for the last 20-25 years. The most recent was this month, May 2016. The customer service remains consistent and exceeds expectations, and their product is spot-on. The most recent awnings were ready for installation before expected. The installers arrived at the appointed time, and the installation was completed expertly; the installers left their work areas as they had found them. Our experience with Pasadena Awning has been very disappointing. When we initially made our deposit, Pasadena Awning did not actually place the order for our awnings, resulting in significant delays. Once they finally did the installation, the awnings did not work properly, and one does not work at all. It's been almost two months since our awnings were installed, and they still aren't functional. Vanessa and the other office staff just take endless messages, but Dave, who seems to handle repairs, never returns phone calls. Most recently, we've been waiting for 2+ weeks for a return call. We spent $6k on electric blinds, and definitely wish we had sourced them from a responsive, responsible company, not from this disorganized, slow, unresponsive business. read more

Never do business here- the installer had to tear a hole in the awning to get it to fit- quite a "custom installation!!!" The owner never sent any one to our home to address our complaint. I disputed the charge thinking it might get his attention- he had the time to reply convincingly to the credit card company but could give two s***s to bother responding to his customers. read more

The awnings are beautiful, but trying to get the install right is an utter nightmare! I have been calling consistently for weeks on end to get them to fix an improperly installed and leaking gutter on the brand new patio cover! I keep being told that they will be out the following week. The next week comes and goes and still nothing. This is even after Dave, the owner, came out himself and concurred that install should never have been put in that way to begin with. We have spent nearly 8K and have been waiting three months to have the install done correctly. I find it unbelievable that this is the way a trusted Pasadena business would be run. After the check clears, it seems that the care for the customer goes right out the window. I'm quite disappointment and frustrated with this company! read more

For 6 months I've been trying to get them to fix a problem with an installation. I've called and left TONS of messages and was even told by the owner that my job would be a priority (that was at least a month ago). I have used Pasadena Awnings for many awning installations and Patio cushion reupholstery work. All of my awning installations went extremely smooth. I was told in advance that it would take weeks before the work would start and I was willing to be patient. Once Dave got his crew out to actually hang the awnings, they were done skillfully and precisely . The crew touched up the painted areas on the stucco finish to cover the marks made by the previous installation. They sealed the new units with a clear, undetectable silicon. One window awning wasn't the size that Dave would have liked , so he had it resized and rehung almost in the same week. Everything looked great . People drove up my driveway (all of the time) to compliment the job. One prior installation was on a two story Spanish home that we had dressed up with Jet-Black satin awnings. Those awnings turned out so amazing and turned a lot heads at the same time. The new homeowners claimed " the awnings " were the high point sales feature of the listing. Most recently we had a housewarming party and sent out the patio furniture cushions to be reupholstered . Dave took them (knowing we had a timeline) and completed them on the morning of the party. He kindly had them delivered on the afternoon of the event. The furniture was proudly available for the enjoyment and admiration of out guests. We are so pleased with all of their work. read more

We used them 10 years ago on our first house and they were reasonable and reliable and when we drive by our old house the awnings they put up are still looking great. Were now using them on our new house and they came out and did a great job. Now we decided to add a few windows we didn't do last year and they've been very attentive and are helping us troubleshoot lack of space. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is that they don't start before 10am. I just wish they started early or showed up earlier for estimates so we could make it to work before lunch. read more

I called Pasadena Awning, because my sister recommended them, to recover the cushions on our patio furniture. I picked out a fabric, placed the order and then started to wait. First deadline missed. Second deadline missed. Weird excuses every time. Finally cushions deivered. So horribly made, loose fabric, no way to attach the cushions to the chairs - all they had needed to do was to copy the existing cushions - which worked!! So first order refused. Back the cushions go to the store and the wait begins again. and again. The excuse this time was that they had needed to order more fabric. Okay, tell me that. Do NOT give me lame excuses. The second order of cushions finally arrived. Horrible! Cushions still wouldn't attach to the chairs. Fabric had been cut too big for the cushion so the fabric was all bunchy. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. They might be fine with awnings but they shouldn't say that they can recover cushions when they obviously can't. Oh.....and there was ONE, count 'em ONE, woman working in the back on a sewing machine - and that was the "factory". I have now ordered cushions to be covered by a different company, a commercial patio furniture recoverer. So, I will have paid for these cushions twice because Pasadena Awning didn't tell the truth. read more

I chose to deal with Pasadena Awning Co. despite noting the negative reviews dated 6/2/2011, 8/1/2011, and 10/26/2011. (Note: I usually disregard reviews which are either cutesy-poo gushy or snotty and sarcastic, as reflecting more of the reviewer than the shop.) My own profile: I am 71 (and tight-fisted with a dollar), own two residences, and have had both good and bad experiences with contractors. I had no previous knowledge of this shop, but, this job turned out entirely positive. The job was to install aluminum awnings on two second-floor bedroom windows on a stucco building. I was quoted a price and was informed up front that it would take about three weeks for them to fabricate the awnings and get back to me to arrange installation. On June 15, 2012 I told them to proceed and left them a check for 50%, the balance to be billed upon proper job completion. On July 3, the 18th day, they called me and arranged installation on the 5th starting some time between 2 and 4 PM, expected to take less than two hours. I did not have to be at the job site but decided to drop by anyway to see how long it would take them to show up; when I arrived at 2:15 I found the awnings were already up and the crew had cleaned up and left, and the job looks good. This review is credit where credit is due and I do not find a reason for deducting any stars in the rating. read more
