We live in town & have regularly eaten in & gotten take out since Pa's Place opened. Each of us have our favorites & the quality & service have been consistently very good. The Authentic #4, the Seared Tuna salad, Beet & Goat Cheese salad, Smashburger & Patty Melt are our regular go to's. Their prices are reasonable & we have never had an issue with getting food in a timely fashion. Weekends are understandably very busy given the beautiful location by the marina & wonderful outdoor seating. So, before you go, know that and keep in mind that Pa's is not a large restaurant , has a small kitchen & you may have to wait on a bit, especially on nice days. We decided to make a mini tour of Guilford on a Friday afternoon and started off at this highly regarded waterside restaurant. I initially could not figure out where to park, but saw a sign directing us to a side street that led to a good sized parking lot behind the restaurant. I had checked the menu online beforehand so I knew what to order, but discovered as I was standing in line that the menu had changed. After reviewing the current offerings, I settled on a pair of grilled chicken Caesar wraps that my wife and I enjoyed at a shaded outside table. Food was great, we had a cod father sandwich and Lillian's shrimp club and shared an order of onion rings. Everything was fresh and tasty . The shrimp had the perfect amount of blackened seasoning and the cod was fried perfectly. It's perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the water views , very casual and relaxing! read more

My first (and last) visit to Pa's place on Father's Day. No parking, which is to be expected on such a busy day, especially since it was such a nice day weather-wise. No available seating, which should have been a clue as to what awaited us. Our food (a few simple sandwiches with NO sides) took over an hour to be ready. Nobody mentioned at time of ordering that there was a long wait. Had we known, we would have gone elsewhere. There was no sense of urgency or desire to move things along. Just a couple of kids fixing sandwiches at a snail's pace. Half of our party had to leave before the food arrived due to other commitments and we didn't get to enjoy the Father's Day lunch together. On the bright side, there was live music and once we were able to find seating (thank you to the ladies willing to share) - the outdoor atmosphere was enjoyable. Would not recommend unless you don't mind taking an afternoon off to have a sandwich. read more

Cute little place on the water next to a little marina. Outdoor seating with several tables with umbrellas. We found one table under a tree to enjoy our cheeseburgers and the beautiful breeze off the ocean. You order at window and they give you a buzzer to let you know when food is ready. Cheeseburger was cooked perfectly with American cheese. Lettuce looked like it had been freshly sliced plus a juicy slice of tomato. We also ordered French fries with Cajun seasoning. Hit Pa's Place once again as I was in the vicinity & don't often get the chance to enjoy properly prepared & fried fresh quality seafood. Had the fried cod sandwich on a roll. Comes with lettuce & tarter. Counter was fine with including my requested additions of cheese slice & onion & pickle. Delish & loved that they cut this generous sandwich in half for me & without it getting squished in the process. Counter service is excellent. read more

Been here before on Father's Day and no real complaints and decided to come again. Limited parking and VERY limited seating to the point where you see one person is holding the table while the rest of their group places the order. They could stand to put a few more shaded tables outside. They have the room. Nothing but kids working there. Owner seemingly absent on a day that they had to know would be busy. Maybe he was enjoying Father's Day elsewhere. They took our order no problem. Didn't mention to us that it might be up to an hour before our order would be ready, otherwise we would have gladly gone somewhere else. Instead, we began to see multiple groups of people waiting forever for their food and the staff just kept saying they were "trying their hardest" and it would be a little bit longer. I didn't exactly see a flurry of activity going on in the kitchen - more like kids standing around not doing much. It's as if they were making each item one at a time instead of multiple items simultaneously. When I went to check on our order, there was another Dad with small children who was visibly (and audibly) upset and demanded a refund. I should have followed suit, but we had already been waiting 45 minutes. When we finally got our order AN HOUR LATER it was just OK - nothing to rave about and none of the sandwiches come with even potato chips on the side. Priced according to what you would expect for the location - $$$. Sorry Pa, won't ever consider coming back here again. You can do better. read more

Came here again for Father's Day, the place has really improved! I enjoyed my omelette as it was very packed with contents and delicious. The price you pay for the quality of omelette is also very good! Don't know if it's because other places have gouged their prices, but Pa's is a good cost. I stumbled on this place in retreat from the wind on Jacob's Beach. It's just a block inland, across from the Lobster Pound, situated where the river runs into the sea. I wasn't really hungry, just seeking refuge. So I ordered french fries and a coffee. Man, were both out of this world. Perfectly done fries, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with the potato skins left on. Coffee just right. What a find! Later I came back to try the scallop roll and the cole slaw for lunch. Admittedly, neither were as good as Joe and Lenny's, the standard in the area. But the young staff is cheerful and capable, and I liked the efficiency of ordering at the window in the back and picking up your order at the front right by the tables. That is, for outdoor dining. I did not order indoors, but if the weather got bad enough I would certainly be back for that. Heads up: this is a popular place and the line to order at the window can get a bit long at peak hours. Best to come a bit early or late for the most laid-back, beachy experience. read more

Came for a Father's Day breakfast with the family. It's a small place near the marina in Guilford. You order at a window and when the buzzer goes off, pick up your food at a window on the other side of the building. Despite the holiday, it didn't take long to order and prepare our meals. I got the breakfast platter for $12. The eggs were cooked way beyond over easy, which meant I couldn't dip my toast into the yolks. Toast was two thick slices of rye, with seeds! Kielbasa was fantastic and generous. The spicy tots were a refreshing twist on standard tots. Overall, a solid meal for the price, and we plan to return for lunch soon! read more

The CT Shoreline has many casual dining choices. Pa's Place is a good one. A wide range of lunch choices should satisfy any taste. Summer window service is fast and efficient. Our hot dogs were stellar. Split dog on a soft bun with the usual condiments were satisfying. Sitting at tables by a small inlet is totally pleasant. Clean public restrooms, patio and picnic table areas in which to dine outside only. Staff was wonderful to deal with and received our food quickly. A rather broad menu for a casual place. Brought our boxer and relaxed on the Adirondack chairs facing the inlet enjoying a leisurely lunch. The very very best tender ultra sweet whole belly clams we've ever enjoyed. This is a surprise little place that sits near the Guilford marina, it is tucked out the way a little bit plentiful parking as long as you make your turn. There is a beautiful view of the Long Island. It is outdoor seating along with a pick up window where they give you buzzer. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The tacos were amazing some of the best I've had and at first I thought I would still be hungry but it ended up being a satisfying meal. EDIT to an earlier review: went for lunch yesterday and ordered a burger again; it was absolutely delicious. Per my last review, I thought that it had been a frozen patty, my burger yesterday did not taste like it was frozen at all. And, they have some of the best gluten-free buns I have found along the shoreline! Such a bonus! Many places just use those crappy Udi's buns, which fall apart immediately. Whatever bun Pa's place uses is an excellent choice! The weather was also delightful, so my friend and I sat on the Adirondack chairs outside and shared some wine, as Pa's place is also BYOB. A wonderful dog friendly restaurant with a simple but delicious menu. We had a pink burger called Mango Madness, crab salad wrap, side of kielbasa sausage and onion rings. We have had it in the past and seems like some of the items have changed a bit... like the bread for the sandwiches. I had the #4 and my husband had the big wave both were tasty and fresh. Our daughter had a burger. Unfortunately they were sold out of onion rings. You order at the window and then find your own seat while waiting for your beeper to go off and go to the pick up window. This place is SO CUTE. Everything about it is charming: the location, the food, the staff, etc. My husband and I stopped by for lunch yesterday with our two dogs and were greeted by such a nice woman at the order window. She gave our dogs biscuits and two bowls of water right off the bat, which was so thoughtful and kind. We parked ourselves at one of the picnic tables outside, which are kind of spread out and separate from the main outdoor dining patio (very convenient for keeping dogs away from guests who may not be entirely comfortable around them). I had the crab and shrimp wrap, which was delicious. I liked that it came with arugula and cucumbers, which added freshness and crunch. My husband had a burger with mango relish, which he loved. We also shared a side of onion rings and ordered a small side of kielbasa as a treat for the pups. I really wanted to love this cute little breakfast spot, but I don't. You walk up to order off a very limited menu, then go back when you're food is ready for pickup. The food was just ehhh, French toast on challah sounds great but it was lacking, the egg& cheese & bacon on an English muffin sounds good as well but was also just mehhh. The bathroom is next door in another building. The woman at the counter taking our orders was having a rough morning and it showed hardcore.
