Although labors were very helpful initially I bought a Halloween wig at party world for $35 Way more than I wanted to spend but it was all they had in the color I needed. Literally was gone 4 mins and a friend sent a message she found what I needed I was looking for. I didn't need to cut or stream to make it what was required for my costume.. I immediately turned around, walked back through the door and could not return it with receipt. Four minutes later!!! Party World has what you need to have a good time! Balloons, helium, which BTW is getting to be a rare gas, streamers and plenty of themes. Our daughter is having a New Year's Day party and here we stop for the items she needs. They have plenty of stock perfect for your office party, birthday, anniversary or wild soirée you want to throw. The lady behind the counter is jovial and always in a great mood, well heck she runs a Party World if you need something in particular they guide you to it. I've been here so many times over the years, I don't know how i haven't written a review. If you are the kind of person that likes supporting local mom n pops, this should be your first stop, especially around the holidays. They"ll always have at least a few items you can't find anywhere else and so wacky displays that are a hoot. I dont know how after all these years they have continued to compete with the big chains- their prices are higher- they really depend on their loyal customer base. Needed balloons for my son's 5th birthday party. We walked in and were immediately greeted with smiles and hellos. We were taken back to the balloon area. Our assistant answered all of my questions and was so patient as my son slowly chose each different balloon he wanted in his bundle. Upon returning to pick the balloons up, multiple staff members asked if we needed any help getting them into our car. They were so friendly and awesome. Our balloon bunches look adorable. I tend to forget about Party World and I'm glad I didn't as of late. I've purchased specialty makeup for Halloween in the past and very pleased with getting what I needed. This most recent trip was no exception! I have been in need of liquid latex and the professionals only cosmetology store where I generally shop has been out for months. Each time they claim "we just ran out", however I have been in there several times since November looking for it. It dawned on me yesterday as they were out yet again to stop by Party World, they carry plenty of specialty items like that and sure enough, they had exactly what I needed in a bit larger quality and cheaper, even for what I saw on Amazon. When I walked in, a nice gal was behind the counter and greeted me immediately! I told her was I was looking for and she swiftly came out from behind the counter to take me to it. She asked a couple questions and within a minute a I was back at the counter to complete my purchase. She was chatty and friendly and it was very pleasant. Parking was no big deal this trip, however the off street location and tiny parking lot isn't always like that. I've had difficulty in the past but this trip worked out perfectly! I was in a bind, looking for classy plastic champagne flutes, and no one seemed to have them! A kind stranger in a liquor store told me there was a "party store" on Arctic, and 10 minutes later I was here. Maybe there has been an ownership change? Maybe a staffing change? Anyway, the other reviews are a bit head-scratching. I was strapped for time and the staff immediately helped me out and directed me precisely to the classy plastic champagne flutes. And then apologized profusely for just having sold out of an even CLASSIER model of classy plastic champagne flute! "No worries" I mumbled, "These are plenty classy for me, I grew up in Florida." Not a fan. Parking can be a bit of a pain when coming here. Step inside and the place is a bit of a mess. I went in and walked through trying to find the items I needed but only found half of the items on my list. When I went up to the counter to ask for help once the counterperson put their phone down they acted like I was intruding on their time. And they pointed me in a general direction to look for what I needed before returning to their phone. I did find one item that would work, but I ended up not finding everything I needed here. And when it came time to pay I had to wait for that same person to put their phone down and wait on an even slower point of sale machine to process my transaction. In short yeah, this is Anchorage. You don't have a whole lot of options for party supplies here. But come on, put the dang phone down and help the people who want to buy something from you. Came in to ask if they were open. During Corona Virus Era. Lady was rude and told me I Had to wear a mask with a mean tone. Again I just wanna see if they were open. I was average man looking to get supplies for my Daughter's 1st Birthday. I just simply walked away I felt like she could of told me in a professional manner and I've would have shop there. It's a win win for me, they could have collected 200 dollars in sales but they lost my business. For all I know she could had the VIRUS! So me and my family decided to go elsewhere ( Michael's). I went in to see if they had wedding cake toppers. Not one employee said anything to me so I just wondered around the store looking. Never found any but they have a ton of Halloween stuff right now along with the usual party stuff. Really reminds me of how terrible we are as Americans when if comes to consumerism. I get the feeling that the staff at party world all woke up one hungover day only to find that their uncle had died and left them a party supply rental business, which they run to this day, no more engaged or prepared to run a business than on day one. Their stock is tired and their yard is a jumble of derelict and broken gear. I recently rented a large item that was attached to a trailer. The trailer had no lights because "someone tore off the plug" (the wires were rusty-the plug had been gone forever) The trailer was also unlicensed. Not only was this item unsafe, it was illegal, and the staff couldn't seem to have cared less. They were more interested in reminding me four times to return the item clean if I wanted the $100 deposit back. Sadly, I still rented the item anyway because I was over a barrel due to my poor timing. My suggestion would be to plan ahead and rent from the "other guys in town" and not from Party World, which is exactly what I will do in the future. read more

Party World has a lot of great costumes and decorations, but the store is understaffed and the prices are high. Employees are too busy and grumpy help you find anything, and they are not aware of what is or isn't available (they said they didn't have wizard hats, but I finally found a big stack of them on the floor). When I asked a woman the price of another unmarked hat, she wandered around holding it for about 5 minutes and then set it down without giving it back to me - what?? Eventually another woman gave me a price ($23.95), but when I went to buy it the cashier said it was $33.95 and acted really suspicious and huffy. I ended up buying it online for $18. This place was a complete mess for the Halloween crowd. To be fair, I went about 2 days before the 31st, so I can understand why there would be slim pickens. But, Dooley's was down the street and very well-stocked. They were ready to handle the crowds, while Party World just didn't have enough inventory. read more

The first time I was there today I had wonderful customer service, the clerk was friendly and fun. I enjoyed my experience immensely then I had to go back. I got my merchandise went to the counter which was a total of 2 items. I was told that they were waiting to check somebody else out who was still looking at necklaces. So I had to wait. As I was waiting I stepped 2 feet away to look at the necklaces also. When the lady ahead of me was done I stepped back up to the counter where my items were laying. The clerk motioned me aside and started checking out a customer with a basket full up things.that had walked up at the same time as I did. It was clear that I had been waiting. Not only that even if I had walked up after the other customer the appropriate thing to do would have been to check me out first since I had two items totaling $100 and she had a basket full of small items totaling $300. If I had the choice I would have just left the merchandise and went somewhere else. I ended up being late for the event I was going too. They are way too expensive in their costume department also. read more

Bought a costume yesterday and opened it up today to find two pairs of pants instead of a top and bottom. Called from work to ask about exchanging it and was told I did not need to go home to pick up the receipt. Brought it in and explained the situation then was rudely helped by the cashier. "How do I know you didn't buy this three years ago? Did you not hear the policy three to four times while you were here?" He finally let me exchange the costume after going back and forth. I left the store angry and decided to call to speak with the manager. The cashier who so rudely helped me was, big surprise, THE MANAGER! He wasn't sure what my complaint was since he "gave" me a FREE COSTUME. I'm not sure how paying for a costume yesterday and making an extra trip to fix their mistake is getting a free costume. Will never shop there again based on terrible customer service. If I had the option to pick zero stars, I would have. read more
