I was not born yesterday and clearly he took advantage to up charge me the cost of the unmarked item... It's a struggling small business so I decided to just purchase items anyway but in no way can you guys get away with unfair practices such as those. The gentleman behind the counter was so nice and helpful and described all the different flavors of lokum, and they all sounded yummy, so I got a bit of most of them. I asked if they were made in house and he said there was a place that made them for the shop. He also showed me all the fresh roasted peanuts on the counter and offered me some samples. The lightly salted ones were so good, so I also purchased a small bag of them. They also have a variety of other nuts that I'd like to try in the future, as well as Dubai chocolate - which seems to be popping up at every Mediterranean place I've gone to lately - even restaurants. Also, we got some local brand Guacamole, Salsa, and Corn Chips. The corn chips from La Tolteca are amazing! Very light tasting and crunchy. The owner was in preparing a pre-order of 175 x-small bags of kettle lorn. Both the owner and the guy behind the counter were helpful, informative and willing to let me sample whatever flavors I wanted. So many to choose from. I ended up getting 5 bags (Windy City mix, vanilla cupcake, blue raspberry, buttery caramel, turtle mix) and started eating them in the car to my sisters. I love that all the bags are resealable except the x-small. The bags are made of a thick plastic and the reseals easily! The Windy City mix is the caramel with cheese. Keith said he's going to be making his Chicago style which has the buttery caramel and cheese but hasn't had time. That should be amazing. He has traditional caramel and the buttery caramel which takes longer to make. The vanilla cupcake is sweet-but I love sweet. Like a vanilla kettle corn with white chocolate drizzle! The blue raspberry wasn't too sweet and not my fav but I thought my 5 year old nephew would love it. The turtle seems to be like a light caramel corn with chocolate caramel drizzle. Although I unfortunately experienced an uncomfortable situation while in the store, the owner handled it with professionalism, compassion, and genuine concern for my safety. I was visiting with my grandmother, mother, sister, and boyfriend when the owner noticed that a man in the store--who was not with our group and was not even a customer--appeared to be recording me. She immediately brought it to my attention and asked whether he was with us. When I told her he was not, she informed me of what she had observed. My mother and boyfriend then confronted the individual, while the owner continued to monitor the situation closely. She later explained that she had noticed his behavior right away and had been keeping an eye on him. While she cannot control the actions of every person who enters her business, I greatly appreciated her attentiveness and willingness to step in. She went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe and supported throughout the situation. Afterward, she checked on me and made my well-being her priority. I thanked her personally for looking out for me and for taking the situation seriously. Her kindness, awareness, and willingness to protect her customers left a lasting impression on me. I will absolutely be returning--not only for my favorite chocolates, but also to support such a wonderful business owner. Thank you again if you happen to see this. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service my mother and I experienced during our recent…read morevisit. We came in to purchase our usual chocolate covered bananas. After my mother placed our order, I walked over to the other side of the counter to wait. While waiting, I rested my back against the counter. I understand that perhaps I should not have been leaning against it, and I had no issue being asked to move. However, the manner in which I was addressed was unnecessarily rude and disrespectful. An older white female employee approached me from behind and, in a raised and unfriendly tone, told me, "Don't lean on the counter." I immediately moved and responded, "Oh, sorry." I then told her that I felt the way she spoke to me was rude. I also mentioned that a decorative bear had fallen after I walked away, as I wanted to make it clear that I had not knocked it over. At that point, the interaction escalated. She turned toward me and responded, "What?" in a confrontational manner. Her facial expression, tone, and demeanor made me feel as though she was attempting to intimidate me. When I commented on how she was speaking and reacting toward me, she ultimately told my mother and me to "get out" and called security. Security responded to the situation, and I intend to file a report regarding the incident. Being asked not to lean against a counter is completely reasonable; being spoken to disrespectfully, confronted, and then ordered to leave simply because I expressed concern about an employee's tone is not acceptable customer service. Before leaving, I asked for the manager's contact information. A younger male employee politely provided me with a phone number, although I believe it may simply be the store's main number. He appeared uncomfortable with the situation but remained courteous and professional. I am requesting that management review this incident, including any available security footage, and address the employee's conduct. I would also appreciate being contacted by the appropriate manager. I do believe she actually may have been the owner and felt entitled to treat us the way she did which is completely unacceptable. My mother and I came in simply to purchase something we regularly enjoy. There was no reason for such a routine interaction to escalate to the point of being told to leave/ not return and having security called.
