As I write this review it is "Thankful Thursday" so I AM for this local business! This retail party supply store was founded in 1986 in Hanover, NJ and is still selling. This location is my favorite local and neighborhood party supply store. No matter what the event, Party City has items in stock to create and make it easier to help plan a fun colorful and memorable party. This store sells party supplies and decorations all year round. A party customer can start in January with New Years Eve, February for Valentines Day, March for St. Patrick's Day, April for Spring & Easter, May for Holy Communion, Baptism and Mother's Day parties. Then halfway through the year, here comes June for Father's Day and those High School or College Graduation Parties. Of course my favorite fun time continuing in Summer for wild patio and hot pool parties. When Fall arrives its back to school and Halloween costumes arrive here along with Thanksgiving and the final holiday of the year, Ho Ho, & Merry Christmas. This store also carries items throughout the year for the loving "Brides to Be" and the "Mom's to Be" so its a memorable time with a happy shower party! The aisles are organized with decorative party themes, party favors, in rainbow of colors, with many sizes for paper products to make planning a party fun and also keeping in budget. In the center of the store is a candy section to supply for children's parties and goody bags or pinatas. The employees here are pleasant, helpful in all party areas and to answer your questions for the special party plans. At the front of the store and check out counters are Latex, foil and helium balloons to finalize a party. After a terrible walk out experience at the party city on Gratiot I drove 25 mins to this party city. This party city was like a breath of fresh air, I instantly was helped and asked how my day was. I was asked twice if I've been helped while waiting for my balloons to be finished and the staff was super friendly and kind. I will undoubtedly go here every time I need party stuff even though it's out of my way. It's clean, stocked and the workers actually want to help you unlike the other party city on Gratiot. Thank you party city on hall road for reminding me that good customer service still exists. You have no idea how reliving it was to walk in to a store and be helped immediately by your kind workers. I've waited over 25 minutes for 10 balloons.... a bunch of immature young kids... 8 individuals at the counter and only 2 registers... very unprofessional as hell... I can understand though their literally all 16-17 years old read more

My first time here and I took my time looking around at all the possibilities for an upcoming baby shower. Any color choice can be found here. I enjoyed the "Candy City" in the center of the store too. So happy to find my favor candy at a reduced sale price. Friendly and helpful staff made it easy to spend my dollars here. My boyfriend went to get some balloons for me for a party I was throwing and I cannot believe how rude he told me the staff was here... he is a veteran and asked for a military discount and the manger had to come and put the discount on our order and when asked the manager gave him a attitude about the discount and told him he had to wait she was doing something and was not nice at all... I'm sorry our veterans deserve that discount, I normally like this store but that whole situation has changed my thoughts on this store... will be going to a different location next time where they are proud to give veterans a discount read more

Don't buy anything here unless you know FOR SURE it's what you want. I don't usually write reviews, but I am so annoyed I just have to warn people (I know, that's how these things usually go). As a typical party store, they're fine. Typical party supplies, typically way over-priced. If you're not looking for something highly specialized, I suggest the dollar store. Anyway, I decided to try to get a jump on Halloween this year because I usually wait until the last minute and find myself scrambling. My forethought brought me no rewards, however. The plan was that our family (all adults - siblings and spouses of siblings) would attend a Halloween party as a group of gangsters from the roaring 20's. We started out costume search in September, right when the Halloween items started to be available in stores. We found that Party city offered the same "Roaring 20's" costumes as the pop-up Halloween stores - some items were more expensive, some less, but it averaged out the the same price. We decide to start with 'gangster hats' and boas, Both items costing $10/pop. For a group of 8 the cost came to just over $80. BEFORE buying we inquired into the return policies of all of the stores under consideration. We were buying for our family, knowing we would see them over the weekend to show and test what was purchased. Party City claimed that if the items did not work for us and/or did not fit that we could return them on 3 conditions: 1. we had the original receipt 2. if there was packaging it was unopened 3. it was before Oct 24 We purchased on Thursday (by the way we had to look at many many hats to find 4 undamaged items with tags on them), and saw our family on Saturday. The hats didn't fit 3 of the 4 men in the family...not even enough to squish them on. The boas shed non-stop as well, and we all concluded that we should perhaps rethink our theme...I didn't think the boas would have any feathers left by Halloween! On Sunday, I attempted to return the items to Party City. I had the original reciept, the card I made the purchase with, there was no 'packaging' to have been opened, and it was wall over a month before the Oct 24 deadline. The boas were accepted. The hats were rejected. The manager said to me 'how can we know you didn't wear the hats and then try to return them?" Well, I didn't know how to reply to this (civilly), so I took my crappy hats and walked out. First of all, the hats were being returned in better condition that most of the other hats on their rack. Secondly, I was TOLD I would be able to return them and the 'supposedly' reasonable return policy was the reason I chose party city over the competitors. Finally, most stores' return policy is based on the premise of good faith. Clearly, Party City doesn't believe in good faith, thus it shall no longer be received from me. read more

Store is very busy during Halloween, which is expected. They hire extra help and it was easy to get assistance. But, I was disappointed in the lack of basic product knowledge that these employees had. Aside from them checking availability of an item, you are basically on your own. If employees can't offer product assistance, you are better off staying home and doing research and purchasing online. read more

I was just at this party city and they wouldn't even let me get two balloons for my birthday because they were so packed with orders they didn't have any helium. That is unacceptable and absolutely not the customers fault that a store cannot keep up with its own demand. This location was in Sterling Heights Michigan on Hall road. Unacceptable. I went to another location much farther away from me and called ahead and they had everything that I needed. I spoke with Meghan at the Chesterfield location and she checked ahead of time to see that they had the balloons I wanted before I drove over there. That is how you run a store!!
