I brought my Honda Pilot in for a catalytic converter issue, and from day one the problem was never resolved. Vino claimed he replaced my catalytic converter, yet my check engine light never turned off. Instead of properly diagnosing and fixing the issue, he kept pushing me to replace parts that were never the problem; O2 sensors, spark plugs, timing belt with a full install kit--costing me thousands of dollars. After all that, my car was still exactly the same. Every time I brought the car back, he would point to a new issue instead of addressing the catalytic converter. He even claimed that someone removed material from my catalytic converter which is impossible because no one touched it except him. I later took my car to the dealership for a proper diagnosis, and they confirmed that Vino installed an aftermarket catalytic converter that did NOT fit my car properly. It caused a small exhaust leak and was even touching the shaft. That's why the problem never went away. This was the wrong part for my vehicle. To make things worse, the last time I dropped my car off, he suddenly claimed my battery wasn't starting. That made no sense because I drove the car to his shop with zero issues. After he touched it, the car wouldn't start even after trying to jump it. I honestly don't know what he did, but every time he works on my car, something new magically "breaks." I immediately took the car to AutoZone near his shop, and they tested the battery. The battery was perfectly fine and did not need replacement. Bottom line: this shop is dishonest. Vino will gaslight you, upsell unnecessary repairs, install incorrect parts, and never fix the real issue. I dropped my car off multiple times and nothing was ever fixed. And now, he doesn't wanna take my car and fix it even I still have the warranty on him. He just left my car high and dry. I definitely take this to legal matters. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. And they said that the average for them is 10 to 15 grand. Even though their labor rate is supposedly lower than average. They just don't want to do the work but won't tell it to my face on the phone. And then they want to replace a bunch of unnecessary parts after they drop the motor, even if the parts that are on there (hoses, clamps, motor mounts) are good, "just in case".

On my other vehicle, left for repair, I found it in a field across the street, unlocked. Consequently leaving a vehicle with them was no longer an option. I found it easier to live with the problem. After visiting their website, my computer received malware. I am more competent that the average user, and it didn't impact me. It was an attack for Windows, and I use Linux. Owner is computer illiterate and believed that his son was competent - obviously he wasn't. Nice and friendly, but watch out. I was charged $60 to check out my alternator, and that only takes a minute to check. Plus I had already ordered him to replace the alternator. I told the owner, that I already checked the alternator, and it checked out OK. But sometimes I got a warning light, and didn't want to take chances of an unexpected failure. Everyone else checks them for free - whether or not it gets replaced. I got a quote to replace my front struts, and Midas on Oracle, did the same job for much less - and I have a nation wide, life time, warranty. In addition they did a wheel alignment at no charge. The owner knew I had a lot of automobile knowledge, as I had a formal automotive technology education. In my early years, living back in Michigan, I was an experimental mechanic for AMC, at their headquarters. The only reason for not doing work myself, is that our association forbids working on vehicles. Only thing I was allowed to do, was clean the windows, and the inside of the car. Car washing is forbidden. Oh, and they put in ordinary oil in my Saturn Vue, has a Honda 3500J engine, that calls for synthetic - I replaced it soon afterwards. Now that I'm in Tucson, my local friend turned me on to Cubbon's to get my belts replaced. Her entire family has been going here for years and they had nothing negative to say about the place. Well, I am sold. Though there needed to be a bit more work done on the car than I was expecting (not a big surprise), I was impressed with the honesty and transparency of everyone working here. The woman working the front desk even drove me to a local eatery where I could have a cup of coffee and write while I waited. The mechanic who worked on my vehicle, Joe, took the time to explain what needed to be done, going so far as to lift up the car and show me the damage to my axle. Unlike my experiences at places like Jiffy Lube, I never felt like they were encouraging me to get work done that my vehicle didn't need and the amount they charged was absolutely reasonable. So, if you need a good, honest mechanic in town I highly recommend Cubbon's.
