I was initially skeptical about going from full time permanant employement to consulting - will I get paid on time, what kind of support will be provided after my contract ends, and so on; I had many questions. With Insight Global I am never worried about my paycheck - they would inform me if there is a public holiday during the payroll cycle so I could submit my hours early and still get paid on time. I was most impressed by the timing that they were able to place me on projects, both times. I think the whole process from interview to actually day one on the job was less than a week on my new project. (maybe down to 2 days even). Before each interview, they sent me a very thorough prep-sheet. They spent a lot of time on the phone with me getting to know my preferences and career goals. They made contact with me before and after every interview to provide guidance and process the experience. I know they are super busy, but it felt like I was their only client. Also, there was a sense of fun about working with them! I'd utilized three other recruiting agencies before I found them and I'd come to expect poor service and constant checking in to remind them to work for you. They just don't follow up with people. Nothing but dead air lately from The Smart Dept. I worked a job for them a while back and they did NOT have my back when the situation fell apart. They privately told me they were on my side and understood what my issues were with the client, but they did nothing to earn the money they robbed from me. This is a garbage company. Even something as basic as the lack of a search option on their website that would allow an applicant to search for local jobs, jobs in their field, or remote work has not been made available to applicants, which shows how out of touch and dumb this "smart" department really is. EDIT: Weeks have gone by without so much as an email telling me they've received any of my applications. They're on my block list now. I suspect the positive reviews here have come from employees of Smart Dept itself, or other plants and familiars.

Wunderland has changed the game and my perspective. They're extremely thorough from start to finish with every opportunity. They constantly check up on me and every person that I talk to genuinely cares. The website contains outdated resources (2012-2014), advertises training options that don't exist after a telephone inquiry from the Chicago office, and an online job search and application system that takes away the human interaction between the potential job candidates and 24 Seven staff. It's not like days of the past where you can stop at a recruitment agency and hand in a resume - they won't even let you in the front door without an appointment. To get an appointment, you have apply through their online system and wait to see if they even want to interview you. I have over 10 years of professional experience and submitted for several of their online resources - even some of the jobs were re-published - but no call for even a "hey we would love to know more about you and what you can offer". I even called and their secretary was friendly, but even after submitting a resume directly to their email, no follow-up from them. I understand that the job market is tough, and I presume that many recruitment agencies are getting loaded with potential candidates, but a person who makes the time to conduct several inquiries should show some curiosity on the staff's part, In the end, you feel like a number and not a human being.
