My friend referred me to Wunderland Group 4 years ago after she spoke so highly of the staffing agency/team she worked with that helped placed her with a direct hire opportunity at Northwestern University. I REALLY enjoy working with the people at WunderLand Group. Since my first project with the agency back in April, all my experiences have been extremely positive. After the first gig, they were very little help in finding another. I asked for coaching, I shared leads with them--often they failed to respond at all. And then they began filing challenges to my unemployment. I had to take time out of my new job to respond to the challenges. When IDES found in my favor, they appealed, and took more of my time. They were supposed to be a partner in finding employment. Instead, they have been a hindrance. I used to recommend your firm to anyone who was looking. Now I warn off everyone. This behavior is lazy, predatory, and foolish. If all you can do with a good candidate who is asking for feedback and ideas is to harass them via IDES, something is wrong with you. read more

Just like another reviewer stated, after the first gig, they're not much help. I got a job as a designer at a large company for two months before my contract was ended for no reason. When I called the recruiter to ask her what's up, she told me that the company is looking for someone more senior. It's really insulting that my portfolio was reviewed and I fit the bill under almost all available senior positions yet this agency excluded me in senior roles because they don't think I'm at that level. I'm in my early 30s with nearly 15 years of experience in design at the educational and professional level, so it's discouraging to offer me lower level roles with low pay, IMO. If that's how they see me then I wouldn't work with this company again. Know your worth. I don't think this place judges your skills; they judge you either by age (if you look younger than you are) or what clients you worked with in the past. If you don't have any high end clients like Nordstrom, Macy's or any big brands in your portfolio, don't even bother working with them. read more

Wunderland was instrumental in landing me a job as I was looking to transition out of another one. I personally worked with Erika Maass, who walked me through the entire hiring process along with post-acceptance follow up. Her account management of myself and my new employer, I believe, were part of the reason why I am in a great role with a great company. She was clear in the company's objectives, clear in the personalities I would be interviewing with, and clear in the communication between myself and the employer. Not sure what all the 5 stars are about--I guess they come from the privileged few lucky enough to get in contact with this place. The first time I called WunderLand Group Chicago I got no answer. The next day I called again and someone definitely picked up, but I heard a click and was disconnected. I immediately called again, thinking someone may have accidentally hung up the phone. This time, however, I realized they were just screening the call, sloppily I might add, as I could hear the office sounds in the background WHILE the voice mail message started to play--Weird. I decided not to leave a message, but to fill out an online application and apply for a job listed. I also sent an email to their "Contact Us" form explaining who I was and requesting more info. That was 2 months ago and I've never received so much as an automated "Thank You, we've received your inquiry and will get back to you" I called another Chicago temp company the week after I tried WunderLand. They responded immediately. WunderLand was essentially a waste of time and quite unprofessional. I guess I could have left a voice mail with them, but after having been hung up on twice and having my application and email ignored, but receiving a hasty response from a local competitor, I decided I didn't want to bother with this place--they clearly didn't want to be bothered with me. read more

The Wunderland Group is a younger agency, and there are better ones out there. I thought that being a newer, smaller firm, that maybe the relationship between the artist and the recruiter would be a stronger bond, but its actually been the opposite. I believe recruiters should treat their talent better than they treat their clients. And in this case, Wunderland does not own up to this. I've worked with several other agencies and am currently stuck in a position Wunderland led me to believe was something completely different than what the position actually was. I've been stuck, and all forms of communication with the agency has been sub-par. The staff is nice, but when it comes down to it, they are there for the money, they don't care about you as an individual, they will never call and check up on you, take you out to lunch, discuss future arrangements. One you are placed, you are forgotten about. Very disappointing. read more

So I was very impressed when within the first week Wunderland had found three potential job opportunities for me. Madeline at WunderLand was extremely attentive to my needs and went out of her way to assure I felt comfortable with the opportunities we discussed, since I'd never freelanced before. After I accepted an assignment, she reached out several times to see how things were going. As a newbie on the U.S. market, I started to work with bigger agencies, blinded by the convincing speech and the load of opportunities. But I quickly realized that no one really cared about what I was truly looking for and that these big agencies were not fulfilling their promises. My agency quest was over after I met them at their office. Wunderland = quality of the offers over quantity, great advice, small friendly team of folks who listen, genuinely care and love their job. So, happy ending for me: I found my dreamy job at Wunderland and it didn't take long because 1. I knew what I wanted and 2. they were able to hear my needs and offer me the right opportunities. This company is about as good as it gets! I tagged along to one of their mixers with a coworker who had recently been placed at a new agency through Wunderland. The Wunderland staff members were great, social, interested in me and funny right off the bat- it was very easy to get along with them and discuss job hunting. After the initial event I got in contact with some staff members (Tara, Amanda, Jessica and Molly) through email and they got to know me better. Within a few weeks they had arranged some great interviews for me. Because they matched me so well with other firms, there was little nervousness walking into the interview because I felt so strongly about them all being good fits. Besides that, they contacted me before my interviews to make sure I was prepared and they answered any of my questions.
