This is my favorite dog park. My pup loves going there, and my other dog who crossed over the rainbow bridge also loved this spot. It's spacious enough and doesn't get super crowded. There's no delineation between small dogs and big dogs, so be aware of that. Met some good people with their pups too. Dogs can get quite dirty there, but they have fun, so no complaints there. read more

This is my go to park for weekend mornings. It is currently closed for a big construction project (May 2026) so I've been forced to try out other parks - so far granite, sutter's landing and Jacinto do not even come close. Partners is almost 3 acres of shaded hills. It is home to squirrels and gofers. I usually arrive at sunrise with my husky mix, Tino. Within 30 minutes there are at least 6 dogs and within an hour there are 12+. Two hours later there could be 18+. Since the park is so big.... some dogs are playing fetch, some dog are tracking squirrels, some are digging for gofers, some are rough playing, and some are making the rounds getting human attention. If you want your dogs to have maximum socialization this is the park. There is no small dog section. The owners at this time are friendly - they socialize or quietly tend to their phone. One drawback - no public restrooms. read more

I really love this dog park. There is plenty or parking here and big open spaces for your dogs to run around and explore. There is hill in the middle of the park that is a perfect spot to view your dog from a far. And plenty of chairs and benches to sit on too. The dogs and owners were nice and friendly. Partners dog park definitely lives up to its name. It's a great example of a community space. During our visit, there was a gentleman raking and removing the debris just to be kind and another gentleman filling up all the water bowls with fresh water and situating them around the park for everyone's convenience. There was a great mix of dogs and owners. Eveyone was friendly and well behaved. There is plenty of space and lots of seating. They have complimentary doggy bags and a community bulletin board. The dog park is terrific- space and such like all of the other reviews is spot on. I love that this park is still thriving. I do wish to share a concern. I was hit by a dog running full speed towards my dog who was about 30 feet away from me. After I got up from my back and looked around, everyone just stared at me from afar. No, "are you okay", "can I help you", or "calls from the owner of the dog(s) to "back off". I get that dogs get excited and we will make every excuse for their behavior, but what happened to our responsibility as dog owners to teach and expect our dogs to slow down or act differently so accidents such as this or worse do not happen. People at the park made it sound like it is a common occurrence for visitors to get hurt (i.e. broken arms, legs, hips). Why is that? We can do better. read more

Over all, its a chill and fun dog park. Its our Fourth time here with my service puppy. She is very well trained, polite and social with dogs and cats and humans. Be aware that racists and jerks do feel entitled to use this public dog park but also expect whomever they dislike not to. This am my dog caught a TENNIS BALL of another dog and its human. I ran up on him witnessing him hitting my dog with his hands smacking her on both ears. He gestured a kick but missed her. I said WTf Is wrong with you, why are you trying to get killed? He says" well hey, its my ball, it MY BALL..." like .... Its a tennis ball. Shes a puppy Its a dog park. I told anyone coming near and in while we were still here not to let their dog near his if it likes balls, because only he and his dog can play with the sacred tennis ball. Love this park! It's so big and spacious. The main reason I love it is because most dog owners who go understand that dogs play rough. Dogs growl, bark, and nip when they play and if you have more than one dog or take your dog frequently to the dog park you should know this. This dog park is not for the weak. So if you feel that dogs growling/barking while playing is "attacking" this dog park isn't for you! I just had one woman with a labradoodle who thought she could tell me that my dog wasn't meant for the dog park because my dog was playing rough though her dog was playing back. Then another lady thought she can order me to put my dog on a leash...and yes, yes they were. My dogs go four times a week and have had no problems with other dogs because most people seem to understand dogs like to play rough. Just hate when new dog owners show up and don't understand this. This is also not a park for small dogs that cannot handle big dogs. There is no separate play area for smaller dogs so a small dog need to be tough or just enjoy playing with larger dogs. There is also no doggy bags available so you have to take your own. The dogs drink water out of buckets, I wish they would install a dog drinking fountain. Other than that, great park! read more

South Land Park brings back many memories of the many afternoons I spent at Belle Cooledge Library. Who knew that I would end up in the area as an adult, bringing my husky puppy to the dog park right across the street? I didn't even know it existed! Because there isn't much space for Oz to run around in my parents' backyard, I take him to Partner Park when I'm visiting home. I get nervous with dog parks because Oz has had some bad experiences, and he becomes anxious easily. Fortunately we came here twice, and we had positive interactions both times. The owners here are super sweet and understanding. They're not standoffish and instead laugh at how playful Oz tries to be with their older dogs. Oz is only 1.5 years old and still in training... so he can be a little embarrassing. He loves the vast amount of open space, though. A few tips as other Yelpers have said... push the gate REALLY hard to get it open. I thought it was locked for the longest time. There's water, pooper scoopers, and chairs for the hoomans. I saw mostly big dogs here since there isn't a separate section for small dogs, but I don't usually think about that because my dog is big. Anyways I'm glad there's now a go-to park for my trips back home to see my parents. Plenty of parking, and lots of dogs that Oz can make friends with, even super early in the morning. I had come here a little over a year ago or so for the first time and I had bad timing as it started to sprinkle as soon as we step foot in the park. Side note: The first iron gate to get into the park is a bit tough to open. I almost turned around thinking the gate was locked and park was closed. Prevent embarrassment and just push on it hard :) Anyway, after successfully making it in... I notice it was just me and my dog and another guy with his dog. I didn't feel comfortable being there... it could have just been the dark and gloomy feel contributing to it... and since my dog was just a little over a year old she was still pretty antsy and not a very good listener. The park is a huge off-leash dog park with hills and big trees. I was worried I could possibly lose sight of my dog. I didn't stay more than 10 minutes and decided from that point forward I would just drive a few extra miles to go to Robbie Lynn Park (which is smaller, but all flat and easier to keep an eye on your pup). After going to RL Park many times- my dog started to get a little defensive and get in scuttles (but only in response to certain dogs lashing out on her). After a few times of this and a break from dog parks all together, I decided it was time to switch things up again....she is almost 2 years old now. I brought her back to Partner park for a second, third, etc. time and she has had a blast with no scuttles whatsoever. She even listens and sticks near me. This dog park is one of the best parks in sacramento because it's so spacious and has shade. The only downside to this is there's this lady that drives a gray GMC suv. She had a white pit mix and never controls him. He is super aggressive so a lot of people like myself try to have our dogs stay away from him whenever they are there. She also loves to leave her dog in the park unsupervised and goes to sleep on her car. If you ever see the car just be advised that her dog is vicious. He always tries to bite my pup and the bitch does nothing about it. read more

I hesitate to give this place 5 starts because, selfishly, I don't want it to become over crowded. While bbsitting a few different dog packs this past month, I became a regular of the 7:30am crew. This park is 2 acres of hills, trees, long and short grasses, and a lil mud for good measure that is a dream for all dogs. There are poop receptacles perfectly spaced all along so there is NO EXCUSE for being irresponsible. If you're in a dog mood, use the easy scoopers to pick ups lil extra for someone else. I brought a golden retriever here (large) a terrier (mid size) and a golden toy poodle (small) and each had a wonderful time. All the other dogs were friendly and their owners attentive and formidable. There is lots of parking and benches too! PROS: diverse grounds; lots of space; well maintained; poop picker uppers CONS: I'm told it gets muddy during rainy season and they close it off; I can't vouch for anything but the 7:30am crew read more

The pooch LOVED it here. But, he didn't love being humped by a rambunctious shepherd, owned by beer-guzzling, lackadaisical owners. WTF? Is an ice-chest full of beer allowed in this park? It also feels like you're trespassing as you drive through the gates into what seems to be the cordoned-off area of some nuke clean-up site. Overall, this is a great place to bring woman's best friend. The knolls are great for wearing out the beasts. There's a community water bucket, conveniently set underneath a working faucet. I didn't notice a big problem with turd land mines. My dog pooped almost as soon as we entered the park (luckily, I brought my own turd-disposing bags). You may also find some plastic grocery bags that have been donated (by means of tying them to the chain link fence) by others, since there aren't any baggie stations. There's also a community bulletin board. And, if you forget to bring Fido's ball, he's bound to find a few that were abandoned by other exhausted dogs. Most of the other owners were involved with their dogs, and kept a watchful eye on their behavior. I was a little nervous about how my dog would be received by the human-types, as he is a vicious, rabid, pit bull. I kid. And, I was pleasantly surprised by the response to my baby boy (okay, he's 14 months-old and hardly little), and the general friendliness of the other dogs and their owners. Beware; even though it may be hot and dry out, there are quite a few mud puddles in this park. So, expect to get dirty and, expect your dog to get filthy. Came here as a meet-up spot to pick up my dog who had been staying with friends. It is a bit hard to find - the instructions my GPS gave me directed me to the library across the street. Apparently my friends got the same directions! The entrance is located next to some sort of building and the park is actually BEHIND the building, so it's hard to spot from the street. Enough shade to find a cool spot and there are a number of spots to sit down, though I'm always wary of doing that in a dog park - I'm not sure how many dogs "christened" the furniture! Anyway, I prefer to stand. There was a dog fight - three dogs got all humpy with each other, someone got miffed, the one in the middle got upset, the pit bull got bit, the mutt shrieked. It was a hot mess as the owners waded in to try to separate the three. Rule of thumb - you, the owner, must always have your eyes on your dog. The MINUTE dogs start to hump, you, the owner, must immediately step in and remove your dog - don't wait until a fight starts! I'm just glad my little monkey wasn't involved. He was too busy trying to romance a Chihuahua named Tinkerbell. read more

I live close to this park but unfortunately can't go there because there is no separation of large and small dogs. My dog is a small-medium (25 lbs) and loves dogs of all sizes, but this park isn't safe -- it is so large that you can't always see where your dog is or get there quickly if something goes wrong. When we went inside, I saw a few smaller dogs but the vast majority are larger. Eventually a very large white pit bull focused on my dog. She seemed sweet enough (I don't mean to malign the breed, it's more relevant that it was a big dog), but if something happened I wouldn't have been able to stop it. Nearly every day I pass by the park, and I silently lament that they don't fence off one side for the smaller crowd. read more

We had the opportunity to check this enjoyable dog park out today. My dog, Isabella, gives it two paws up!!! She enjoyed meeting new friends and especially liked hanging out at the front gate. She seemed excited to be one of the first to introduce herself as new dogs arrived. We also went for a couple of walks along the paths as well as up and down the small hills. Everyone was friendly and there was only one small issue between a couple of dogs that was handled extremely well by their parents. We are just visiting the area on vacation, but this would be our choice of hangouts if we did live close by. I researched many parks before we chose this one and even though it was a bit further away, it stood out above the rest and I can see why. This park was a little difficult to find, but I knew that because I read about that in other reviews previously. Basically, you have to park in the parking lot behind the building across the street from the library (I believe it is some kind of community center). There is a sign where you need to enter that says the dog park is to the left (with an arrow pointing that way), but you cannot get into the park going that direction. So go straight into the parking lot that is telling you to go to the left and you will easily see where to go from there. Also be prepared to push the first gate door REALLY hard to get inside. It says to push hard, because of a strong magnet, but I thought that I was still doing something wrong (because I was already pushing pretty hard), but no... just keep pushing! ;) read more

First and foremost, it's a fenced off dog park, yay!! Large open field with trees, hills and grass that's just perfect for my dog. You will find plenty of benches and chair around the park to sit while your dog runs around. The people are friendly and the dogs are just as friendly. Just watch out for your dog if you have a smaller since there in no designated small/large breed areas. The only downside I can think of is the annoyed hard to open gate. I had to have someone help me open it to get out a few times before I got the hang of it. There's also a foul smell but it's a dog park where dozens of dogs are doing their business. read more

Took my little guy Devin there. First visit he made a great pal Buddy Boy, they were inseperable. Since then I have been there twice more and Devin hasn't had the same experience but I'll chalk it up to beginners luck. As on the time I am writing this Devin has only been with us for 3 weeks but he came from a very balanced pack so I noticed at the park he gravitates toward the more "balanced" dogs and avoids the wacky-do-dogs (cute as they may be). Most of the owners are very nice, love to share dog rescue stories and other dog park tips. By the time we leave we know all the dogs names but not one human name gets exchanged . . . weird huh? The park can get dusty dirty when the big dogs get a lil wild but what else do we expect in a drought. Also some of the trees and poles are pretty stinky, I wonder if they ever het hosed off a bit? read more

I am here three to four times a week with my buddies Fenway and Tsunami. The boys love the open space to roam and the great dogs they get to play with. Tsunami is a high energy golden retriever puppy who loves to hang out in the kiddie pool and then beg to be petted by unsuspecting newcomers, shaking his beautifully wet furry self all over them (I apologize to all who have encountered him). Fenway is a dignified senior citizen who just wanders off when the puppies shenanigans get to be too much. Its great the park is large enough to keep them both happy, and I'm happy to live within a ten minute drive from here. One wish is that owners would be a little more conscientious about picking up after their dogs. A very nice dog park. But beware. My Aussie was attacked by a pit looking dog. The dog was accompanied by her owner, who had to pull her off my dogs neck. Bad enough, but then the owner took the dog and drove quickly away from the park. Didn't give me his name, no checking to see if my little dog was ok. What a jerk! Looks very cool for big dogs. A huge dog was sitting by the gate watching intently as my 15lb miniature poodle and I approached. I asked the dog's owner if there was a small dog area, and he said no and to be careful around the big dogs who frequent the park. Sadly we turned around and crossed it off the list. I've read many reviews where in dog park the dog owners suck! Well I gotta tell ya this isn't one of those parks! Everyone is extremely friendly! #1 tip: push the gate really hard to get in. There can be problematic dogs sometimes but just watch your dog and you'll be fine. There are shovels to pick up dog poop and two stations where your dog can get water from. There are gigantic trees with plenty of shade in this 100 degree weather. 5pm and later is the busiest time so if you want your doggy to interact and socialize I'd say this is the best time. During our short 3 month stay in Sacramento this has by far been my favorite park and wish to donate a little tub in which dogs can get in there and play in the water... I tried coming to the dog park earlier this year but due to the non stop rain it had been flooded out. I returned yesterday on a beautiful sunny day and was excited to see the doors open. The dog park is huge! With rolling hills, shaded areas and plenty of seating areas it stands out as a great dog park. They had water bowls for the pups as well!! My little dog had a great time, but it was mostly big dogs there. I will also say it's hard to completely keep your eye on your dog (at least for me it was). If your dog is super small or gets into fights easily then this might not be a great place to bring them. Since this dog park is only a mile away from my house I will be returning as soon as possible! My pup loved it and was completely exhausted after. A tired dog is a happy dog! read more

In theory this looks like a wonderful dog park, however, much of the time, much of the park is mud. In September and October when I would visit on a daily basis in the morning I expected to have to give my giant schnauzer a bath after every visit. I believe the park is over-watered. It sometimes was dryer if I visited in the afternoon, but not always. We have avoided the park this winter because I don't want to deal with the rain and mud. This off-leash dog park is very big! Mostly dirt and grass. There is good shade coverage from the trees and a tiny hill so your pup can run off some steam. Fresh water is available for the pups. There aren't any poop bags but they do provide pooper scoopers. Not too much poop laying around so that is a good sign. Small and large dogs share the same park, so be aware of your pup. Luckily, everyone I ran into was nice and the pups played nicely with all sizes. read more

I got a dog!! And I've already fully embraced the dog owner lifestyle which means that when I go to dog parks, I can recognize dogs on sight and tell you their name, gender, breed and how my dog will get along with them but I have NO idea what their owners names are. My first time here, I was pretty unimpressed. There are a lot of dirt patches and this one area of dirt that gets flooded with water so of course, it attracts dogs and produces lots of muddy tracks. Plus, on my first visit, there was a ton of dog poop. Gross. But since then, it's slowly grown on me and I've learned to appreciate it for what it is: a really large, fenced in, hilly area for your dog to run and play. If you have a dog that loves to run, this really is a great place for them to chase balls or other dogs. Tons of space, lots of hills, lots of water spots and chairs for the human companions. Occasionally some dogs get aggressive here but most owners have been responsible enough to break up the fights right away and pick up after their dogs. I think my dog loves it here and I know that it always tires her out. read more

Oh, how this breaks my heart! If not for this, I would say Partner Park tops all the other dog parks in Sacramento with its grassy hills, large shaded trees and tons of room to run. To those with outstandingly sociable dogs, this park is a must. If you have a dog - regardless of size - that is nervous or aggressive and working its way toward understanding doggie manners, I would not recommend it. Awkward large dogs could really injure the smaller ones out of defense. Awkward small dogs may provoke large dogs and get hurt that way, too. Because of the ample space, you could isolate your fun to a corner, but I think that defeats the whole purpose of bringing your furry friend to a dog park. They're there to exercise and socialize! Perhaps it's a "newer" design function for dog parks, but separated areas are a must in my book. You can tell this park has been here for ages since the trees are quite mature. I would love to see a separation gate placed to accommodate all dogs and their owners. If in the future this feature is added, 5 stars EASY. read more

This is by far one of, if not the best dog parks in Sacramento! The park is right off the freeway, easy to find. It is clean and the regulars are friendly. The setup of the park is great, it is a large gated off-leash area with a couple hills. There's a mix of dirt and grass and plenty of beautiful Sacramento trees that provide plenty of shade and fresh air. My dog had so much fun here and so did I. This park is big enough that I could actually get some exercise with my dog OFF-LEASH! It is just so great. You can plan a quick walk or job with your fury friend off leash in a safe environment. There are also plenty of waste stations and fresh water sources. I would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Best dog park in the Sacramento area, in my opinion. After visiting multiple parks in Sac like North Natomas, Sutter's Landing, and Granite Park, I have to say the three dogs, plus my wife and I, are fans of Partner Park. Unlike the other parks, Partner Park isn't just a big, flat, fenced off area with some grass and decomposed granite. Partner Park has tons of trees (which means plenty of SHADE), two large hills, and open spaces for our furry friends to play. The topography and shape of the park also gives the park three to four distinct sections, which makes it feel bigger than it really is. Like others have written here, the watering areas do tend to get a little muddy at times, but it seems to be getting a little better lately. Most owners here are good about cleaning up after their pet, but there are a few stray dukes out there, so be careful. It's not any worse than any other dog park though. The biggest downside here is that there isn't a small dog area here, so if you are coming with anything less than a medium sized dog, your little buddy might get a little stressed out. With that said, I have seen many a small dog come out here and have the time of his/her life. If you've never been, do yourself and your pooch a favor and stop give Partner Park a whirl. read more

We love this dog park because of how big it is. There seem to be a lot of dogs throughout the day which is nice for socialization for the dogs. When it rains, it's really muddy for a few days so I steer clear during those times. It also can be scary because of the large hills. It makes it hard to see your dog unless you are following them around. We usually follow our little guy around so it hasn't been an issue for us. People don't seem to pick up after their dog as much as other Sacramento dog parks, but we always try to pick up the messes when we see them. The location is nice but can be hard to fin if you haven't been there before. It's behind the community center so turn into their parking lot! read more

A fun place to bring your best friends to sniff butt! Named after a K-9 officer who died in the line of duty, this 2.5 acre off-leash dog park is also known by various nicknames in our household: "Bark Park" to our dog, Abby; "Poop Park" to our two toddlers. The fenced-in park consists of several grassy knolls with trees and lots of open space. Dogs and their people of all shapes and sizes come here to socialize and play. Amenities include a large communal water bowl, benches, a communication board, and dog waste bags. My only bone to pick here is that some of the dogs' people choose to just sit on the benches and do not go fetch Rex's finished "business". This is no fault of the City's, but does result in a squishy/stinky visit. Because of this (plus lots of mud when the ground gets wet) wear washable shoes and bring an extra pair of shoes/method for cleaning Rover's feet. Or do what we do and come here on Fido's/Fifi's bath day. read more

Our medium sized pup never seems to have a good time at Partner Park. Maybe it happens at all dog parks, but there are a lot of BIG dogs here and they play hard. Sometimes the aggression gets to be enough that it makes me nervous to be around them, and Hazel, my dog, seems to be thinking the same thing as she runs and hides behind us. While I agree that the owners are generally pretty good about keeping an eye on their dogs, the last time we were here a huge german shepherd was humping everything in site (humans and dogs) in a very obnoxious and aggressive way, and the owner didn't do anything about it though he was standing right there watching. On the other hand, if you have a big, dominant dog, this is probably a great park for letting your dog get out it's energy. It's big, has lots of hills for running around on, benches and lawn chairs for humans, and has a water station for your dog. read more
