    AGGRESSIVE GERMAN SHEPARD
    Clarissa P.

my dog Lexi and her brother Champ have been going here since they were puppies. I've seen a handful of dog fights but never with blood. Both my dogs (especially my Mail Lexi) have gotten been through a board + train program. July 9th 2023, Lexi was MINDING HER BUSINESS looking at a squirrel when a German Shepard came up and brutally BIT HER. The lady ran away extremely fast that my husband wasn't able to catch her. We are stuck in debt now due to this. Description of lady: Caucasian female, 40's , athletic wear Vehicle: blacked out Ford SUV Due to the bill being over $1K we added a go fund me, anything is appreciated. Thank you.

This is an awesome dog park if you're looking for space for your fur baby to run around and have fun! I was shocked at how big the "large dogs" side was, it's sooooo spacious! The bread is well taken care of, they supply doggy-poop- bags, there's also a a water fountain to keep our fur babies hydrated. There are benches throughout the park. Also, I love how shaded this dog park is! We all know how hot it gets in Sac, so the shade really helps not only the puuups but it also helps us, dog parents ;) I would highly recommend this park to all future fur friends, hope to see ya there!

This is by far my favorite dog park to take my fur baby to! She's always super excited to come here! It's definitely her happy place. There is an area for small dogs, and big dogs, which is divided by a gate/fence, sometimes the big/small dogs like to chase each other through the fence...xD The park is pretty clean, 90% of the people actually pick up their dog's shit....& thank you to those who pick up after other dogs as well. I love that both areas are filled with grass, so on days that it doesn't rain your pup doesn't get tooo dirty. Both dog owners and dogs are well behaved, but there's always gonna be a few that you have to watch out for. If you keep an eye on your fur baby you should be okay! Tip; teach your fur baby to come to you when you call them! Another cool thing is that there's an adoption center right next to it. I'm pretty sure they do vaccines and spay/neuter as well. But ya, come on by there's plenty of parking right next to the park all the time. I'm sure you'll have a great time with your fur baby!

We love taking our dogs here! One goes in the small dog area and one in the large. Lots of room for them to run around and seating available. There's poop bag stations and it's a great place to take the puppers

I come here daily, sometimes twice a day. My pup loves it. He even made a bunch of doggy friends. Most of the people are really nice and pay very close attention to their dogs. The only reason I didn't give it more stars is because some of the people bring their agressive or unaltered dogs, or don't know how to control their dogs. My dog's been attacked 3-4 times now. Also the small dog people are very rude to the big dog people.

We love this park. It has a large fenced area for big dogs and another one for small dogs. There are 2 benches and a water fountain. It's clean and has grass, much better than the gravel dog parks we've been to. It's a large area where dogs have plenty of space. Prime time seems to be after 6pm. Lots of cute dogs to play with. Zinnie can't wait to comeback.

Very very very muddy from the rain last night but that just made the dogs that much happier to play in it!

It's a great park but doesn't have many trees and depending on the day and time there can be aggressive dogs with rude owners

Great interaction. Friendly pets. Like dog size park separations. Water area sometimes a little mud so bring towel for messy paws.

I've rarely seen any issues with dogs being aggressive .. Most of them get along so well , it's so fun to watch dogs play with each other .

Not sure. Can fish there! Playground: With climate change, unpredictable weather, and summers with many days over 100F, would be nice if all parks in the sac area provided shade. This one has shade only over a small set of swings by a picnic area/ by the trains & barn. The main playground had shade near it but no shade over the play structures. Kids going down the slides could get burned- recommend putting up shade to avoid future liability issues. Overall a beautiful park w a good amt of shade, multiple parking lots and multiple picnic areas. Too far for us to come regularly but likely coming back for the train ride during holidays when I think they usually have a Santa there. (You need advance tix for this)

A few chairs are available for owners, plus a little swimming pool filled with water for the dogs. The grass and shade trees make it extra inviting. It's clear this park is very well cared for.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to write about EG Park, but after the past visit, it was such a nice experience that I just had to tell the world. This park is huge and has everything - trails, picnic tables, duck pond, frisbee nets, dog park and bike park. The bike park is across the parking lot of the dog park, with plenty of dirt hills for practicing jumps. I've never seen a free bike park before. The dog park isn't separated by big/small dogs and the grass is spotty, but there are some training obstacles and the area is big. I'd rather walk my dog in the actual EG park instead. The weekends are always busy with birthdays, photoshoots, and other parties, but they are spaced out so there is privacy and even low noise when walking around on the path. On rainy days, the canopy of trees keep the path dry in most parts. I love the large pond and watching the ducks, geese, and squirrels. There's always something interesting to look at every season. In the spring you can spot eggs on the island and lots of adorable baby ducks. You used to be able to go on the island, but the bridge is now gated to allow for bird breeding. On this particular day, it was sprinkling and the rain softly falling on the pond with ducks, geese, and their babies' pitter pattering along were just so zen. The majority of the park is lush with green grass and hardly any trash around. There's plenty of trash bins along the path and benches to relax on. If you're lucky, you'll spot a unique bird or two. My favorite is the cormorant that dives for fish on the pond. Whether it's a stroll in the park, a party, doggy play date, or a zen place to run away from your problems, EG Park is my go to.

Small dog side had a crap ton of feces early October 2025. No excuse for it - there were tons of dookie bags tied to the fence. Dookie blended in with the loose dirt and tree dander. Small dog side also had burs and some other weeds. Unappealing. Large dog side maybe had 2 dog turds but was bare/clean, much better. It also had heavily used scoop pans. I'll stick to my quality poop bags and having her do her business on cue, in peace, elsewhere, thanks. Decomposed granite only, no grass either side. Both sides small to medium in size. Larger joint transition area compared to other parks. Right outside the dog park are several metal tables with 4 charcoal grills. Dog birthday party setting? Haha. Plenty of street parking including spaces under the overpass for warmer days. Loved that there's a large grassy park across the street with benches. We ate there and it was peaceful enough but the road noise from Howe Avenue is a bit much. The overhead power lines at the two parks are a bit much, too, particularly at the dog park. One great feature is the easy access to the American River Trail and the levee trail. Go for a road run, trail run, or walk towards Watt Ave or Cal Expo. Overall, my dog and I don't need to come back because it grossed me out, but it was a great outlet for my dog to get her sniff on.

There's street parking only, but usually plenty of spots available. It's right next to a running trail, so if you can't dog park for whatever reason you could walk as an alternative. Pros: tall fences. Separate big and small dog sides. Working water with new water stations. Trash cans and scoopers provided (unless they get stolen). Plenty of bench space. Shade some hours from the big tree. Cons: small side has A LOT of dead grass with stickers. The big side has flooded near the gate the last few winters. It's a dirt floor, so it gets super dusty. The benches usually have pee on them (but it's a dog park). The small dog side is really big and could've been made a little smaller to adjust for the big dog side to be bigger.
