First time outdoors at the Parthenon and it was wonderful. There were three of us and we had great service and delicious servings. This area was quiet and in the early evening as the sun went down, the setting was perfect. We weren't rushed and each of us was able to order from the menu and meet our taste buds. Two of us dine at the Parthenon every few months and we haven't been dissatisfied with the bar area or now the outdoors. Amazing food! Loved the laid back atmosphere. We both had the Belgium waffles. I had sausage on the side an a fruit cup. All was delicious! He had scrambled eggs with cheese and fried chicken on the side. Chicken was flavorful and juicy. Eggs were seasoned well and flaky. Drinks were great! My husband and I have been going to Parthenon for years! The staff is SUPER friendly! We love going on Wednesdays and Sundays when the appetizers are 6.00 each! We make a meal out of them! Well... Calamari came out burned. Idk how they served that. But they replaced it with a better one. The cocktail sauce is simply catch up w a hint of horseradish. Bland. The servers are mostly inept and/or argumentative and rude, and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant is far worse than it once was. We stopped in for lunch on the way back home from visiting family. I Googled places to eat and found this and it had almost 5 stars. This place was wonderful. Great food and service. They start you off with bread and olive oil with some type of balsamic vinaigrette, it was very good. I got the lunch mini gyros and sweet potato fries. Update in regards to my first review: The owner contacted me and sent us a gift card because of our previous experience. So, we decided to give it another shot. The waitress we had the last time we visited came to our table and apologized for the misunderstanding about the Yelp discount. I actually didn't remember what she looked like so it was a pleasant surprise for her to come to our table and personally apologize. Much appreciated. We had excellent service tonight. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgable about items on the menu. Our food was delicious! We had the spanakopita as an appetizer (YUM!) and some gyros/pasta for dinner...with Greek salads, of course. I spent some time in Greece and love Greek food...this place is as genuine as they come. I hesitate to give this place 3 stars. I really want to give it 2 and a half. I'll break down why into 3 segments: Building: Living in the boro, I've gotten use to drivng to downtown Nash for a decent view. The location is in Murfreesboro, and is a new build. The decor is very well selected and with low lights and plenty of windows, it is quite romantic. When you pull up, it looks like a car dealership in the parking lot. beamer, benz, audi, jag, you name it. It seems like the place to get a great meal. Service: Depending on who's at the door. the hostest I had was not dressed properly befitting the level of service told to me by the building. She is an older woman and seems like she might be related in some way to the owners. It seemed like she just woke up. She seated me for two. My husband was arriving later. Our waitress, Molly was wonderful and very attentive. Food: Eh....I'm had better. I've done better at the house. What I will say is for the happy hour deal of 2 eat 3 courses for $20 it was money well spent. We both had 7oz steaks, smashed potatos, and angel hair pasta. The other two courses being, soup or sald, and a key lime pie or caramel. The crab soub was very good. The steak was ok. A bit blend and a touch on the rougher side. A couple years ago, fresh out of college I would of said it was the best. Now I've been some places and ate some things, and I have to say it falls low on my list. Price is my reason for considering going again. 2 for $20 deal at Chili's on the Avenue is better tasting food but the atmosphere lacks this particular place. I have visited the Parthenon Grille at least twenty times during the last two years. I consider it the best non-chain restaurant in Murfreesboro and the surrounding area and, without exception, it is my favorite. I have never been disappointed in any capacity. Dinner can get expensive (a relative term I guess). On New Years Eve, I took my family (two adults and two children). The total bill with tip was $141 (no alcoholic drinks, three adult entrees, one child entree and two deserts). On New Years Eve they presented a limited menu. Once again, the food was fantastic and in my opinion, worth every penny. The limited menu was clearly marked up compared to the regular menu. Just keep in mind, the regular menu is not inexpensive by any means. But- you get what you pay for.The steaks in this place are out of this world as are any of the seafood pasta dishes. All my experiences with service at the Parthenon Grille have been exceptional. On New Years Eve we had Katie, a college student, who was the absolute best server I had in 2014. The atmosphere is great as is the decor. Parking is not an issue at all and the location is accessible (about 2 minutes off I-24). Acceptable dress code at the Parthenon Grille is casual to dress. Laid back. Coupon use at the Parthenon Grille can be hit or miss in my experience. On New Years Eve, they did not accept my Yelp coupon (for checking in). Another time, they did not honor a discount card for some reason. Not a deal breaker for me by any means, I keep going back. read more

We drove by this place on 3rd of July, thinking this will be an excellent choice for a romantic dinner...... WRONG!!!! Decor was very classy and upscale. Once we got inside, we stood around like idiots before anyone acknowledged us. The girl from the bar had to go out of her way and serve as the hostess in order to seat us. Then we requested to be seated on the front porch. The bartender girl said that there was no table, and she would move one over for us. So she left us standing in the middle of the dining room and walked away, thinking that this was not her job. Meanwhile the real hostess girl was no where to be found. So once again, we stood in the middle of the dining room like idiots, not knowing what we should do. So we went back to the lobby and sat down. Once our table was ready, the hostess girl came and seated us. First we started looking at the menu, the waiter came and took our drinks. Recommended the Greek chicken soup. Wife ordered the lamb chops, since that was the waiter's recommendation. He also recommended the scallops and Shrimp pasta (not sure why he recommended Italian pasta to me in a Greek restaurant). I also wanted the calamari as appetizer. The appetiser came in with the batter still wet. Octopus was not cooked all the way. Most importantly, it was raw octopus mixed with raw batter. So they took the dish back. At this point, we are starting to get afraid about our dinner in general. Then the Greek Lemon Chicken soup came. The spices are alright, but the chicken tasted like its been around for 2-3 days. It was overly sour for my taste. Certainly didn't taste Greek to me. Finally the Lamb Chops came in with French Fries. I must say the best thing all night were the fries...... deliciously heavenly. Lamb chops were so-so. Once again super sour. I think they believe anything Greek should be soaked in lemon. My Shrimp and Scallops pasta was not cooked evenly. Some scallops were cooked on one side, some were not cooked, and only the top side was leukwarm. The bottom side was raw. Pasta tasted like some amateur kid threw the plate together, bland, no taste, not sure what the point is that the dish is trying to convey. I took two bites and stopped. I finished off the wife's lamb and fries. What a disappointment. Now I understand why they have no customers on the 3rd of July. Waiter did apologize and did not charge us for the dinner. But I walked out of this fancy restaurant still feeling hungry. What a terrible experience. I left him a big tip because I felt bad for him. The restaurant was totally not worth it. the lamb chops would have costed us $27. Pasta would have costed us $21. Calamari would have costed us $8. Honestly, I would not pay money to eat there again. However, the service was good. I wish they can just stick to traditional Greek dishes. I do not understand why they changed to semi-Italian, semi-American, and half-ass steak house, yet failed miserably at all attempts. DO NOT GO THERE!!! read more

The last time I went to the Parthenon Grille several years ago I think it was called the Parthenon Steakhouse and was located on the other side of Church Street and was very much a restaurant past its prime. I finally made it back to the Parthenon this weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. I love the new location and the new decor. The lighting was low with a lot of candlelight and it would have been very romantic if not for the live music. The live music was loud and consisted of some guy doing bad cover songs. My boyfriend loves raw oysters so we started with a platter of oysters. They tasted really fresh and got a thumbs up from him. For my entree I ordered the shrimp and scallop linguini and he ordered a 6 oz sirloin with shrimp and asparagus. Both meals were delicious. My linguini had a bit of a zing to it which was unexpected but really added to the dish. My boyfriend enjoyed his sirloin and shrimp and I tasted the asparagus, which was cooked perfectly. The people at the next table ordered desserts and they looked so good that we decided to get dessert too. I ordered the chocolate creme brulee and my boyfriend got the tiramisu. Both desserts were fantastic. Overall we had a great experience here and will definitely be back. The Parthenon Grille will be my go-to place for nice evenings out, particularly as the quality of the Maple Street Grill has dropped. read more

This restaurant has been around for many years and just a couple years ago moved across the street to it's new location. It used to be one of my favorite places in Murfreesboro to have a nice dinner, but ever since they moved it has never been the same. Last year my wife and I ate at the new location and were not impressed. The service was below average, the server could not answer questions about the menu, and our table rocked back and forth. Recently we decided to give the new location one more time before we took it off our list of nice places to eat. I am sad to say the 2nd experience at the new location was not much better. The Greek salad looked great, but was so bland you could taste the water droplets on the lettuce. I had to order three different wines off of their wine list before I picked one they actually had in stock. We did have terrible waitress on the last visit... But the first was good. The problem really is the food quality. Wow! Such a nice surprise. They have a cute outdoor patio, cool bar section, great remodel with nice decor (wood ceiling, concrete floors), very clean. Portions are great. Yummy warm bread basket with balsamic vinegar dipping sauce. Food was quick. Premade but tasted and looked fresh. Service is amazing! Hostess (I think was the owner) checked on us several times, quickly turned tables over. Prices are low too, considering the great service and quality. Wow! What can I say about The Parthenon Grille? The exterior from S. Church Street is not spectacular. Actually, must would probably say, "I am not going there." DO NOT let this deter you from going inside and enjoying a meal. The exterior from the back is very inviting with a very nice seating area outside for the nicer days and evenings. The have an upscale inviting bar area with a great bourbon and whiskey selection. One of the better ones in Murfreesboro. Now the food. My wife and I went for a date night. This is a great date place. We were not very hungry that evening so we went with appetizer and salads. We had the fried pita and dip app. It was very flavorful. You could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. The salads were also fresh. We had a night cap from the bar. My wife had one of their specialty drinks and I had a 7 and 7. They were both very good. The bartender was very friendly and made some good drink with health pours. We have heard a lot of good things about the other items on their menu especially the steaks. My husband and I had The Parthenon on our list of local spots to try for awhile, and were very much looking forward to it. When we arrived on Saturday early evening, it was pretty quiet. We were seated immediately and liked the ambiance. It appears to be a 70's building with a decade old rebranding maybe? We're in our early 40's, and we were one of the youngest couples there that we saw. It's still nice though, and the bar looked enjoyable. First impression at the menu, meh...we actually considered leaving, but decided to stick it out. Jordan J was our wait staff and promptly brought drinks while we continued to struggle with anything on the overpriced menu. Again, we considered leaving, but decided we were all in and committed. We ordered the Tortellini and Shrimp & Scallop dishes, and now for the bread. Another meh...yeast bread that tastes like it's warm enough to be fresh, but processed like a box maybe. The oil and vinegar was mostly vinegar with maybe herbs in it? It overpowered everything on the mostly flavorless bread. It wasn't long at all before Ms. Jordan brought out our entrees. That was a bonus since there's no salad option unless you want to fork over more money (think high end menu/prices, middle of the road place/quality). The dishes are huge, so that's a bonus if you're a fan. I could easily have made 4 lunches of the tortellini which was clunky and extremely rich. It had reasonable flavor. The shrimp and scallops were cooked BEAUTIFULLY. Seriously, whoever cooked them, perfect execution. WOW! The pasta was bland, the cheese was caked on and way too thick, and the mushrooms were old and brown spotted, but I may never forget the perfection of those scallops....ever. During dinner, another couple was seated beside us and we found out there was a lamb chop special, and her 2 or 3 recommendations. Kudos to that server and the others we heard following suit. Overall, meh, we won't return. It appears that it may have been a fabulous place once upon a time, but those are days of old now. Usually I'll try to return to a place before reviewing it if the first time wasn't that great, but for the price, that's just not going to happen. Calimari was WAY over cooked and didn't come with lemon..... We would have asked s lemon if our server had come back before we decided to stop eating it. The portion size was great, but the sauce tastes like it came from a can and there wasn't nearly enough if we had wanted to eat the whole thing. Cocktails were really good..... But a little overpriced for M'boro. Salmon was over cooked (well done). And the scallops from my date's dish were (oddly) not seared but still over cooked as well. The sauce was nice though. I recently visited the Parthenon Grill with some family. The pro of this establishment is excellent service. Our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. The portions were also nicely sized, though the side salads are a bit excessive. (Be aware if you select a salad other than the house side salad, there is an increase in price. The menu states this, but our waitress made no mention of the high price.) The real let down of this place was its steaks. As a restaurant that tries to sell its self as an upper class steak house, their steak game is weak. I ordered a New York strip, sans the fancy toppings. I ordered my steak rare. When our food came out, I cut into my steak. The first issue was that it was way over cooked. The second issue was it was unevenly cooked: parts were medium well, other parts were medium rare, and some of it was well done. I alerted our waitress to this issue. She thoroughly apologized and returned to the kitchen to get me another steak. When the second steak came out, it was in fact rare . . But it was also cold. There was absolutely no sear on the steak. It was clear that it had gone straight from the fridge to the grill for less than a minute. If you have ever had a well prepared rare steak, then you well know that rare steak should never be cold. At this point, I knew my steak was a loss. This place gets 3 stars for great service. The rest of our food was also quite tasty. But be wary of the overly priced, underwhelming steak. read more

I happened to be introduced to this place through a work related function. I had no idea it was a steakhouse, and a good quality one. The building looks like it used to be a Ponderosa Steakhouse or other low-priced buffet place. I'm not sure if it was, or if Parthenon has been around since the 1970s. It is a steakhouse, but it's also a Greek restaurant, well, it has a Greek steakhouse theme, which is kind of difficult to explain. The food is good though, with classic American steakhouse food intertwined with Greek flair. The house salad is delicious and the steaks are worth going for. I have also eaten seafood pasta here. They do have a nice selection of seafood. It's a strange, quirky little place and the inside looks very 1970s, with lots of wood and stone. We had a recommendation for Prime Rib at Parthenon Grille. Both of us ordered the Prime Rib. I wouldn't recommend the Prime Rib, covered in Rosemary including the au jus. The Greek salad was excellent! Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere - great for dates or business. I would definitely recommend ordering other dishes, even other cuts of beef, they looked wonderful. We had planned to go here (based on Yelp reviews) and got steered into ordering Prime Rib through a business colleague. I am sure if we had ordered something else, would have been five stars.
