Only Place for Brake Service! Went in for front and back pads and rotors. Jim serviced the car and disclosed that only the front needed to be done. The rear brakes were fine. An honest mechanic?! WOW! A rare thing, indeed. Overall final price for the entire job was about the same price the dealer wanted to charge me for the pads alone. read more

I always bought my tires here and was satisfied. Today i bought 4 michelin tires and was charged a surcharge on my debit card, when i hot home i noticed a 3.5% add on unexplained. Very disappointed as surcharges in Ct. are illegal. I felt he should have mentioned it at the time of check out. read more

I thought I had a nail in my tire, so I called up Parsell's. A very welcoming gentleman answered the phone, and told me to come past 1:30pm. I show up, leave my keys in one of the workers hands, and they take my car in immediately. As I get done shopping for cleaning items for my car next door, I come out, and see my car outside already. I went to Parsells twice in the recent past. The first time I went was because I had a nail in the side of my tire. I did some research before I went and discovered that I could not get the tire repaired but instead had to have the whole tire replaced. I went to Parsells and that's exactly what they told me. I ordered a new tire through them and the next day I had a new tire put on. The service was great and the price was fair. The second time I went I had a nail in a different tire, this time in the tread of the tire. I walked in, was promptly taken care of, and about 30 minutes later my tire was repaired. Total cost $20. I was very happy both times I went and would recommend going here for tires or tire repair. read more

After hearing neighbor recommendations for years, we finally had reason to bring our 10 yr old van to Parsell's for a 'second opinion' after a local dealer diagnosed an expensive problem. Parsell's confirmed it but also quoted a price that was by far more reasonable. They did the work and the fix continues to be great. Since then, this old vehicle has needed other minor things which we have had them complete and it has always been done right! We now bring all of our cars to Parsell's because the work is done right, on time, and for a fair price. Flat tire on my way to work this morning, pulled in 10 minutes before they opened (7:50am) and they took me right away - put 2 new tires on the car since the tire was beyond repair and it was fast, fair and friendly service. They got me back on the road so fast I was NOT late for work. TERRIBLE TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS!! RUDE + ABUSIVE !! Someone recommended I try Parsells' Auto so I called to make an appointment and was treated so badly; yelled at over basic questions and then hung up on. The gentleman said he was Parsell himself! (altho I can't be sure that's true) I will NEVER use this dump for service and DO NOT recommend them to anyone especially an elderly person. I would give 0 stars if I could. There are plenty of other places to go where you're treated with basic decency. read more

While they may be friendly, they also will not install Best Quality Performance parts that you bring. So if you are ok with standard, run of the mill parts for your vehicle then this place will be a great fit for you. But if you want them to install high-end Quality Parts.,, best go somewhere else. read more

I have been using this shop for the past 5-6 years to mount and balance my tires. I have sent multiple family members there to get work done and I have never had a problem until recently. I made an appointment to get my tires mounted and received a quote to do so (same price it has always been). Upon arrival the employee at the front desk informed me that the price HE HIMSELF quoted me was no longer valid because I didn't buy HIS tires. He now wanted $100 more to mount the tires. When I spoke to him on the phone originally to make the appointment I was asked if I had bought the tires from them and I responded "no". Although I do always check their prices first because I like to support local businesses, I always find their tires to be extremely overpriced and I have never bought a set from them but it has never been a problem in the past. I showed him my past receipts of the price he quoted me and asked why all of a sudden the price had tripled and he was told "I don't make any money if you don't buy my tires". He then asked if I wanted them mounted or not and I said absolutely not and told them to put the tires back in the car. I left after that. I will NEVER be taking my car to this shop again and I will not be suggesting them to family members or anyone in town. Great way to lose business and loyal customers. read more

It's interesting that the first review of this place is positive. I had a completely different experience - I was overcharged for a service that probably took the mechanic less than 10 minutes. In addition, the service was performed without even consulting me as to the overstated pricing! Went to pick up my vehicle and the guy that checks you out was extremely rude. Was asking normal questions like any paying customer would about their vehicle and trying to troubleshoot the possibilities of what could cause the problems. He was very short and became a little upset and hostile about us asking questions. I had already paid for current services so as soon as I saw his rude reaction to our harmless conversation, I ended our services and said thank you and goodbye. what an asshole! read more

They are honest and fair as any auto repair shop out there. I would say they always look to keep your cost low as they can for what is in their control. We live one town over so it is a little bit of a journey to do business with them at times, but someone of their skill and honesty is hard to find. I would strongly refer their services. read more

We moved to Southbury nine years ago. Unable to loosen the screws to change my license plates, I pulled into Parsells and asked for assistance. Jim the owner of the family business immediately came out and was able to remove my old license plates and would not accept any payment. Jim and his team have been taking care of our cars ever since. They are honest, quick and professional. Numerous times I have asked Jim in advance of a project how much it would cost, and 9/10 the bill is less. They NEVER try to sell you more than is required. If I have any concern at all it would be that Jim and team at times should recommend additional preventive maintenance steps. BTW, this recommendation includes tires as well. As a member of Costco, which we love, I compared tire prices with Parsell's and Parsell's was better and of course much more convenient. BTW, when you buy tires from Parsells they rotate for free which we take advantage of during oil changes. We have been driving Lexus vehicles while living in Southbury and have know hesitancy having Parsells service our vehicles, for big jobs as well including timing belt change. They know what they are doing and their prices are very competitive. read more
