The best food I had in all of Seville.. stopped by this place for late dinner during my recent trip…read moreto Seville and this place did not disappoint. We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for. This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.

Where do I begin? Let's talk about the ambience. To call this place rustic would probably capture…read moreit best, it's really probably more like a cafeteria or a school room at a very old school. Tables perhaps a bit close together, not terribly comfortable. Loud, busy. As far as the service, it was our impression that our waiter was the only person serving the 30 or so tables in their dining room. Suffice it to say the service was not fast and not good. Inexplicably, every time we ordered a Coke we were asked if we wanted a Coke Zero. If I wanted a Coke Zero I would have said the words Coke Zero. Even when I asked for another Coke, he again asked "Coke Zero?" It took next to forever to get the check, and forever to get a cappuccino. At one point I took it upon myself to point the waiter to a table behind us that had been desperately attempting to get his attention. This was all not good. As to the food. First, our fault for not knowing what tataki meant. We did not expect to receive salmon that was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. So that one is on us, although we also think the meal came tepid at best. The lamb on couscous was dry and tough. The pork cheek stew was actually pretty good if a bit gluey. The calamari was good. The sushi as they called it was average. What they called the tiramisu was more like a pudding with some liqueur and chocolate on the top, and a little bit of breadish stuff in the bottom. Not my idea of tiramisu, and probably not yours either. So we could not get too excited about these various dishes. But what was particularly frustrating and bizarre was that two people sitting across from us ordered food that looked absolutely delicious. So we got to sit there wondering why we didn't order what they ordered. They ordered a large beef dish with potatoes which is on the menu, and we think they ordered a large octopus meal although we are not sure. Everything they had looked better than anything we had. So it may be that we somehow just picked the wrong items. So it was a strangely frustrating meal. This place has good reviews and we expected good tasting food. Unfortunately it did not work out that way, and the ambience and service were negative contributing factors. I can't entirely write this place off, only because the food other diners received actually looked very good. But I don't think I would go there again.

Although we still got right to business..... Delicious food. A great variety of dishes in the menu for all tastes including lots of exotic and yummy treats. Major props to the waiter who advised us against our post-work hunger-induced ordering frenzy. We cancelled one thing and he put our order into a sequence on his pad with a question mark beside the last tapa in case we got too full. We powered on but ended up struggling with the last dish. So he did know best in the end. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating and very efficient and relaxed simultaneously. They were on hand when we had questions and didn't rush us out the door even though we were the last to leave late on a Tuesday night. My recommendations are the biryani and the tagine de albondigas.... caution though....They're both very filling and quite rich. We ordered 5 tapas and 5 drinks between 2 and paid 16euro each. We left feeling super full so we could probably have knocked that last dish off the menu, saved a fiver and still been raving about the place..... so overall I'd say the place is pretty amazing! I'm going back with some visitors this weekend!

Some items were your typical tapas but others seemed more fusion or tried to be. For instance, the shrimp with aioli were presented in a bao bun and fries. I also got the stroganoff of steer which was tender chunks of beef in sauce and a few slices of fried potatoes on top. A nice meat and potato dish. I also got the white truffle risotto, the truffle flavor subtle but the risotto was perfectly cooked. I also tried the pork with crispy mustard. Not sure if the English menu was mistranslated, I think it's probably crispy pork with mustard. It was ok I'm just not a fan of mustard. We shared a couple of desserts. The brownie with peanuts and ice cream and some kind of fried brioche with ice cream and caramel sauce. I liked how the brioche soaked up all the caramel sauce it reminded me of a bread pudding. The brownie was a bit more dense and more fudge like and had crispy peanut bits inside which were nice. Service was good and I liked that they had an English menu.

One of the best things I've eaten in Sevilla. Still hungry; we ordered the carpaccio de buey, served with a sprinkling of similar salt flakes and nueces, or nuts. The flavor was absolutely amazing, I could've eaten the whole thing myself. Hands down best carpaccio I've ever eaten. Will be back!

I don't remember the rest of the prices since I didn't order them haha. I tried the first two. I died eating the solomillo. It was an amazing blend of savory and sweet and crunchy (the bread was toasted) and soft (cheese). It was perfect. The papas bravas were piping hot and the sauce was just right. I didn't try the other dishes but my friends seemed to really enjoy them. A 25cl Cruzcampo was only 1 euro, which was what drew us in in the first place. Ambiance: Busy and lively. We didn't have any trouble getting a table for 5 but it quickly filled up thereafter and there was a steady stream of guests peeking in for open tables. Service: The guy was super attentive and it seemed like he and the other waitress worked well together to serve their tables. He was always smiling even though all the tables were filled, which we appreciated. I would recommend to everyone. Do yourself a favor and try the solomillo. Seriously.

After visiting one of the stops with my tour group, i opted not to take the bus back to the hotel…read morewith everyone else and instead walked back. We had the afternoon and evening on our own anyhow and i wanted to explore and find someplace that was outside of the touristy areas. After getting lost for a bit, i finally got my bearings and headed toward the hotel. I found a few places that i might stop in for a bite but some were just coffee shops, others, i walked into then got intimidated by them not having an english menu or pictures. I finally told myself, the next place that has food, I'm going to eat there. I walked in and it was a nice little bar, i looked over the menu and drew a total blank, there were some words that i understood but for the most part knew almost nothing. The waitress helped as well as she could and went over the menu with me and pointed out items that she knew the english to. I ordered a beer which came with olives which were really good, the beer was nice and cold and hit the spot. I liked how they kept the beer glasses in cold water in a bucket on the bar. The pour of the beer was only half the glass but it was only 1.30€ each so no problems there. I ended up ordering croquettes and a spinach (2.50€ each), the croquettes were nice and crispy and tender and soft inside. So good, the spinach was good but i wish i could have chose something more exciting, but it was good and also filling. The beer was really good, very smooth and refreshing, so i ordered another one since its only a half glass. My total bill was under 8€ which was awesome! Great little place thats away from the tourist area, it's where locals eat, so i was glad to find it, i just wish i understood the menu better.

Every afternoon, the city shuts down for a few hours. But other stuff is trickier to decipher. When do people in Sevilla eat, for instance? That might be the biggest mystery of all. Some days at noon, this lovely little pita joint on the Plaza Calderón de la Barca is totally empty. Other days, it's a madhouse, and it seems like the whole neighborhood is sitting out front in the sunshine drinking cañas of beer. When you don't know the local schedule, you get paranoid, and you start to imagine that everything is following a schedule that you're not privy to. Like last night. I saw several unrelated groups of little kids on rollerblades, and I wondered if it was "Rollerblade Friday." A few days before that when I kept seeing people wearing the same kind of knitted scarf, I convinced myself that it was "Knit Scarf Tuesday." That's how it is when you're a stranger. You find yourself at lunchtime sitting alone at Pitacasso eating a plate of yummy falafel balls, wondering where everybody is and how they figured out that's where they're supposed to be.
