La Locanda di Andrea - Mediterranean Salad with vegan feta option

Delicious Italian - no matter your dietary restrictions!…read more I came here after reading reviews and seeing from the menu that they accommodate dietary restrictions. I have to be gluten-free and dairy-free, but I still had a good meal here! Their menu is available in Spanish or English and they use symbols to denote vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. I'm not sure why it's not marked on the menu, but I'd seen a review that their gnocchi is the gluten-free pasta option, so I asked about it when we got there. If you're gluten-free, mention it and ask about gluten-free gnocchi (not sure if all their gnocchi are gluten-free or if it's different). They have two vegan pasta options and three gnocchis, but they're good so if you have any dietary restrictions I'm sure you'll still enjoy what you have here. What we ordered: -Mediterranean Salad: Spring mix with tomato, raisins, and Gorgonzola (subbed vegan feta - I think they use Violife which is good) with a red pepper vinaigrette. It had an interesting mix of flavors, but I would've preferred the tomatoes to be incorporated into the salad (I think it was more form over function), possibly using a San Marzano tomato sliced in halves would've been better. Pine nuts and or bits of olive could've complemented the flavor too. It was nice to have something fresh to go with the meal. The dressing was light but nice and tangy. It was decently large so we shared it as a side salad for both (large for a side for one). -Gnocchi Gorgonzola: This is what my mom ordered, so it isn't dairy-free, but she enjoyed it! -Gnocchi Pesto Pugliese: I ordered this. It's vegan and gluten-free (I said gluten-free gnocchi, but again, not sure if all the gnocchi is gluten-free or it was different). The gnocchi was doughy but not too mushy and the sauce was light with little bits of crushed almond and pine nuts throughout. Sort of like a sundried tomato pesto. It was good and I was happy to have an option, but it was a bit simple so I added some of the vegan feta from our salad and bits of the complementary olives to it to add more flavor. I think it could have used the extra cheese, larger bits of nut to add more texture, or Italian sausage crumbles (obviously this wouldn't be vegan, but if I were to remake the dish at home). You're just missing something crispy and textured or a richness. If you're dairy-free or vegan and need an option, it's nice to have this. The gnocchis were generous and we each took home half our portion as leftovers. If I didn't have dietary restrictions, we could've shared one along with the salad. They have a good selection of Spanish wines available by glass or bottle. We didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately. The staff was very nice and it was a nice environment.

The best food I had in all of Seville.. stopped by this place for late dinner during my recent trip…read moreto Seville and this place did not disappoint. We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for. This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.

Tables perhaps a bit close together, not terribly comfortable. Loud, busy. As far as the service, it was our impression that our waiter was the only person serving the 30 or so tables in their dining room. Suffice it to say the service was not fast and not good. Inexplicably, every time we ordered a Coke we were asked if we wanted a Coke Zero. If I wanted a Coke Zero I would have said the words Coke Zero. Even when I asked for another Coke, he again asked "Coke Zero?" It took next to forever to get the check, and forever to get a cappuccino. At one point I took it upon myself to point the waiter to a table behind us that had been desperately attempting to get his attention. This was all not good. As to the food. First, our fault for not knowing what tataki meant. We did not expect to receive salmon that was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. So that one is on us, although we also think the meal came tepid at best. The lamb on couscous was dry and tough. The pork cheek stew was actually pretty good if a bit gluey. The calamari was good. The sushi as they called it was average. What they called the tiramisu was more like a pudding with some liqueur and chocolate on the top, and a little bit of breadish stuff in the bottom. Not my idea of tiramisu, and probably not yours either. So we could not get too excited about these various dishes. But what was particularly frustrating and bizarre was that two people sitting across from us ordered food that looked absolutely delicious. So we got to sit there wondering why we didn't order what they ordered. They ordered a large beef dish with potatoes which is on the menu, and we think they ordered a large octopus meal although we are not sure. Everything they had looked better than anything we had. So it may be that we somehow just picked the wrong items. So it was a strangely frustrating meal. This place has good reviews and we expected good tasting food. Unfortunately it did not work out that way, and the ambience and service were negative contributing factors. I can't entirely write this place off, only because the food other diners received actually looked very good. But I don't think I would go there again.

I was absolutely blown away by the texture and quality of the "chicken." I also enjoyed talking to our server, who was super friendly and even told me how they make the "chicken" look and taste so authentic. For dessert I had the cerveza negra cake, and had a hard time believing it was actually vegan! That cream frosting would have even the most professional bakers fooled! The only downside is that they make large batches of the food each day and once customers order it all, they run out for the day and don't offer more. There were quite a few items on the menu that had run out by mid afternoon, so if you want to go, definitely go for early lunch!

We ordered the castillas (ribs) de seitan, the Vegan Chorizo & the Seitan con salsa porcini. We loved the chewy texture of the seitan castillas & the BBQ sauce served with it was really good. The Seitan porcini was worth ordering for the sauce alone. The Chorizo was really disappointing & a fairly small portion for the money. The other week we returned & ordered the super Mauser burger. We were really excited by the Jack Daniels sauce, which was disappointingly lacking.. The burger was really poorly presented too, with a cheap bun, a large lettuce leaf, slice of tomato & some red onion accompanying the seitan burger. I really want to give this place four stars for the good dishes (as well as for being a purely vegan bar) but the lacklustre other dishes drag it down to @ 3* rating
