Tried 4 times to make an appointment and someone picks up and places you on hold for 30 minutes!!!! What a horrible experience and I haven't even visited the office yet . Calling my Dr. for an alternate referral if the office is this inconsiderate and I haven't made an initial appointment or stepped foot in the Inglewood ,office imagine if I actually went to the office . Be incredibly careful. My experience with Dr. Parnell was a nightmare and landed me in the hospital for a week. I went in for an endoscopy and ended up in the hospital vomiting blood.The option to be anesthetized was never discussed with or offered to me and the doctor gave me so much sedation that I was knocked out for many hours after my procedure. The doctor's staff discharged me when I clearly wasn't conscious or in any condition to be discharged, and as it turns out, I was bleeding internally from a dilation the doctor performed without discussing with me. I was so drugged up that they jammed the paperwork between my t-shirt and hoodie because I was unable to hold on to it. They were running several hours behind schedule on a Friday afternoon and rather than hold me for observation as they should have, they loaded me into my caretaker's vehicle while I was barely conscious. Within an hour I was vomiting blood and had to be rushed to a hospital by ambulance. I also needed a colonoscopy, but because of the doctor's schedule he scheduled the procedures separately, which as another doctor explained to me doesn't make any sense. A year later, I have thousands of dollars in medical bills as a result of the emergency the doctor caused, and he never even had the courtesy to apologize. Dr. Parnell has been a blessing in my life! I have had Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome since 2008. My episodes were non-stop every 3 or 4 month, and landed me in the hospital countless times. I found Dr. Parnell through my insurance's in-network search and decided to reach out. Although his next available appointment was months away, I went ahead and booked it. In the meantime, I saw another gastroenterologist who had a sooner opening and that turned out to be a big mistake. I ended up spending over a thousand dollars out of pocket on unnecessary tests. When I finally saw Dr. Parnell, the experience was completely different. He truly listened to my symptoms, prescribed a more effective medication, and even followed up with a personal phone call (and wished me a happy birthday!). His calendar might be full, but he's absolutely worth the wait. read more

I really wanted to like this office. Git therr on time ans The team apologized for waiting an hour to be seen. But after meeting with DR Parnell and feeling like I was dismissed, I felt like a number. He kept telling me that I didn't have a real problem without LISTENING. I then go to my car after being there for 2 hours, and had to pay extra after it was validated. When I called the office, I was met with a dismissive team after asking them to validate the rest of the parking since inwas at the office much longer than I needed to be due to their issue, not mine. I at least asked them to notify people of the partial validation if they are at the office over an hour and got hung up on. I felt treated like a number the entire time. I will not be going back. And Dr. PARNELL, if you are jaded with your profession and don't like what you do anymore, please find something else to do. People are TRUSTING YOU with their lives. read more

We drove all the way from OC only to see Dr Parnell, we are very pleased with the procedure done to my husband, as he immediately felt better after months of sickness. I was scared at first since this was my first time getting both procedures done, but Dr. Parnell was so friendly and professional and assured me that everything would be awesome. The staff was also very professional and helpful from beginning to end even with the follow up. I'm so glad I decided to make my appointment with this office. Consultation appointment. Arrived at 11:30am. Appointment was at 11:40am. I didn't get seated till 12:55pm. Waited for the doctor till 1:25pm and only sat with him for 5 minutes. Doctor seems nice but the wait is unnecessary!! There were only about 4 patients ahead of me. read more

The only good thing about my experience with Dr. Parnell was his bedside manner. He's generally a pleasant guy to deal with. And Alex at his main office was helpful and competent during my otherwise aggravating experience. That's about where "the good" ends. I saw the Doctor for a consultation, and as far as actually getting any help, it was useless and awful. I've had many stomach issues throughout my life, but recently there were some new symptoms prompting me to see him. To summarize the main points: 1) He literally said to me that because I've had a lot of stomach issues, he probably cant help me, and needs to "CYA" himself. This is EXACTLY what's wrong with Western doctors. No interest in diving in, trying things, trying to help figure out what's been going on with me, much less the lower hanging fruit of what's newly been going on with me. Nope, just CYA cause I've had issues for a long time. Nice. Kind of goes with the "you agree to arbitration instead of being able to sue me" form I mention in point 3. He seems really worried, probably not a good sign. 2) He had zero helpful information. I mean zero. The one idea he tossed out there, a dietary adjustment, my mother (!) had already suggested to me. Good thing I saw a professional. *rolling eyes*. Moral of the story, just listen to your moms folks. Although, I did get some entertainment value out of the following anecdote "Oh, yeah, gas...everyone has gas, and no one knows what to do about it. About 30 years ago, I saw Dr so and so...he was known as 'the father of gas' he told me people would come to see him from Saudi Arabia....Russia....all kinds of places. But he couldnt do anything for them. And you know, we really haven't learned much more than that since then." 3) He has multiple offices, and it's a nightmare dealing with them. One office makes a point that they don't bill you (the other office does) but they need all this other info, including attempting to get you to sign a form that you'd have to use arbitration (can't sue) if the Dr screws you up. Uh, no. They also like to shade his other office by telling you that you'll wait hours there, but not at this location. So I saw him there, and he referred me to speak to his assistant, Rosalinda, at his other office, in order to go to yet a 3rd office for a test that even he admitted was probably useless. I only opted it for the test because his original idea was to try giving me antibiotics for 30 days without having ANY IDEA WHATSOEVER if I have any specific issues that would be helped by antibiotics. Anyway, when I finally get the call from the assistant at the other office, she starts spitting all this stuff out at me that doesnt make much sense, I have to be like "what are you talking about??" - OK, all I needed to know is the 3rd office will call me, and she gave me a # to call if they dont. Thanks. A week later THAT office calls. They grill me for about 20 excruciating minutes asking all kinds of details, and I'm like "why do I have to do this on the phone with you now, we havent even set up an appt? Can I just have your address and a billing code so I can check with insurance?" (Rosalinda told me they'd give me that) They say I'll get that info in an email. Email never comes. I end up needing to reschedule, and I never got the email/info anyway, so I try to call them back at the phone # Rosalinda gave me, but keep getting automated messages and voicemail. So I call Dr Parnell's main office back to get help. I didnt remember Rosalinda's name, but I start telling the lady on the phone whats going on, and she says I have to speak to either Veronica or Maria, who Ive never dealt with. I ask her why I'd need to speak to them, there's no record of what's going on in their system? She says no. What? nothing? Nope. Eventually a helpful guy named Alex calls me back, and tells me that Rosalinda is actually who I spoke to. So, not only dont they have anything about this in their system, but the lady who I spoke to multiple times didnt remember it either and tried to pawn me off on other people who would know even less. Very organized. Alex gets me the correct # to call the 3rd office, and off I go over there again to reschedule at the 3rd office. You know what? I didnt reschedule, I cancelled. And I'm cancelling any further involvement with the useless mess that is Dr Parnell's practice too. read more

I have ulcerative colitis. Dr. Parnell is patient and understanding. He gives outstanding service in that he is very responsive to my concerns and regularly checks on my health. He has a great bed side manner and will make sure you only get necessary tests. For example, I went to another gastroenterologist who insisted I get an MRI of my small intestine. This was ultimately unnecessary and I was left with a hefty bill. Dr. Parnell is a great doctor to consider if you have Chrons/Colitis. read more

We did a preliminary meeting, he explained the procedure and his staff did an excellent job preparing me for the procedure. I had questions about co-pays and his office did 2 follow up calls to ensure my concerns were addressed. On the day of the procedure, his staff and nurses were all excellent, warm, caring, concerned. Went in and had an appointment to meet Dr. Parnell and schedule my first colonoscopy. He is professional and personable. His staff was helpful and I scheduled my procedure. On the day of my colonoscopy I was very pleased with the nurse's. They were great. Dr. Parnell came in, we spoke and the nurse started the medicine. I was done and on the way home before I knew it. Dr. Parnell was my doctor for 3 years before I moved. He managed my Ulcerative Colitis with great care and understanding of the disease. He was very prompt, easy to get ahold of, and has a very helpful and nice staff. I have found very few doctors who are as kind and respectful as Dr. Parnell.
