There's no loudness or inappropriate conversations. All of the barbers do good work (I go to Marcellus). I also like that it has very diverse clientele. It's in a quiet uneventful spot and their pricing is fair and reasonable. All of the barbers are friendly and acknowledge you when you walk in. The experience is definitely different from the norm!! That's ok, but his customer service and attitude just suck. At first, I thought it was an act and was amusing, but it was not an act, and it was not funny at all. His macho, bro-like attitude, permeates everything that is said in the shop. As a liberal gay man, I felt like I was in a time, warp and taken back into the Reagan-era 80s. The constant misogynist jokes and racial innuendos were really hard to take. He berated nearly every African-American political leader with the implicit suggestion that it was because of their race. Everything culminated one day when a guy came into get a haircut for his wedding. The owner gave some unsolicited marriage advice to him. His advice was that the customer needed to start the marital relationship by showing his wife who the boss was and by giving her a good beating. Yes, you read that correctly! Whether this was a joke or not, I was appalled and have never returned. I'll never spend another dime in the shop and regret that I didn't tell the owner how I felt.

The barbers are very friendly, and the shop although small is neat and clean. My first visit I chose Josh at random to cut my hair,which proved to be an excellent decision. He is very courteous and professional. Josh is meticulous in cutting my hair and makes sure that I am satisfied with my haircut. I was a walk in the first two times that I visited the shop, and was able to get Josh's service both times. He gave me his phone number at my last visit so that we could schedule service times that would be covenient for both of us, He will be my barber of choice for as long as possible, however I would be comfortable having any of the barbers at Carribean barbers cutting my hair, I highly recommend Carribean barbers to anyone looking for good service. My appointment was with Darren. Darren took his time by asking me specific questions regarding how low I wanted my hair, the sides, what kind of edging I wanted, etc. I was nervous. I'm not going to lie! I'm used to my hair stylist, washing my hair and then cutting it and I've been going to her for so long. She knows my hair, my style, etc. So I answered all of Darren's questions and chimed in when I wanted something done and he obliged. I use gel in my hair so after every haircut I normally go home, add gel, to see how it looks.
