My family has been coming here for years! Le Château in La Crosse is owned by a lovely married couple from France. They catered my brother's wedding and this year I had a wonderful Valentine's Day date. Must try: the Escargot, Risotto, crème brûlée & fantastic white wine!!

She had to go get another host to come point our name out. After finally being seated. Our waitress took our order right away. We were the only diners and came along 2 other tables. Le Cave was quite busy so it took a while for us to get our two drinks. We finally got our food after a little over an hour. My husband got the lamb wellington but they didn't have lamb and offered beef instead. The sauce was overly salted. So i couldn't try more than the tiny bite i took. I got The lobster risotto. It had mixed reviews but i thought i would try it and have my own judgement. It was also the waitresses favorite. I will say, the herbs in the risotto was over powering and the lobster which was supposed to be poached tasted grilled and was over cooked. Like many other reviews, i couldn't cut it with my butter knife. Perhaps a steak knife would've helped. But it still doesn't help the fact that it was over cooked. The side of butter was unnecessary as everything was too flavorful. And the edamames were just a tad bit too much. Escargot was over cooked. The herb butter was flavorless. We were very disappointed as this was what we were looking forward to the most. Fois gre was ok. $200 dinner and we were not impressed. But it was worth a try.

The restaurant was clean and chill the entire time we were there. We appreciated the tapas menu, as it displayed variety without being too big. We went with the chips, salsa & guac; chicken salad with pita chips, and bang bang nachos with carnitas meat. We enjoyed the dining room, food, and drinks: all were solid. The dings were for how hard this place was to find, and that our waiter Brady was like a human icicle in personality and didn't check in with us after the food was delivered. I'd come back, but my husband said he wouldn't.

A group of four of us met there today, and we were all in a great mood... And I'm still not sure what happened with our server, but her obvious displeasure with us took our whole experience down a notch. There was a waiter who was charming and helpful, but "Olivia" must've been having a bad day. The four of us felt really bad, trying to figure out what we must've done to perturb her. What could've been a really nice lunch became stressful. I hope that she's feeling better by now.

Cate G was an excellent server and totally not ruffled by our large group. It was no problem when we asked for separate checks - she just asked that we not play musical chairs! We were chilled from our hike so the tumeric antioxidant tea with honey (extra charge) and lemon hit the spot. We had only planned on staying for a warm beverage before heading out to lunch elsewhere but the food menu enticed us so we decided to stay. The menu offered food I love as a vegetarian! I had the Ancient Buddha Bowl with farro (quinoa is an alternative). Tumeric toasted cauliflower, roasted sweet potatoes, beets, sumac roasted chickpeas, crisped kale/brussel sprouts mix with a lemon tahini dressing. So much goodness in a bowl!! There were so many other choices but if I were to eat here again, I would try the housemade vegan burger or one of their salads. It was a bit noisy with so many people but not so that our group was not able to enjoy conversation. Family friendly with a kids corner stocked with toys.

As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted right away and shown to our seats. The restaurant's decor was very festive and colorful. As soon as we got seated, we were served complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were warm and tasted freshly fried. The salsa was very mildly spiced, but still tasty. We ordered a Combination of Three dinner (enchilada, tamale, chile relleno) which came with rice and beans. The chile relleno's batter tasted weird and the texture was kind of spongey, but the rest of the dish still tasted good. We also ordered the Mojarra Frita (deep fried whole tilapia), which came with rice and salad. The salad was not dressed, which I didn't mind, because it paired nicely with the fish. The rice had some cheese melted on it and was very lightly seasoned. The fish was fried perfectly, and it wasn't too greasy. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I recommend squeezing some lemon juice over the fish to cut through some of the oiliness of the fried fish. I really enjoyed this dish and would gladly order it again. Service was fast, friendly, and casual. Overall, the food was good, portion sizes were very generous, and prices were reasonable. Definitely worth checking out if you are craving some Mexican food.

Well, it was good until we ordered... the waitress was nice but once we ordered we were quickly disappointed. We ordered meals that is supposed to come with beans and rice, as usual. After the waitress taking our order about 5 minutes later she came to tell us they didn't have beans, beans! I was disappointed but I put that aside for my daughter's sake on her bday. The waitress advised she could substitute with more rice. We all said ok. Then I wanted to order a soda because the horchata I ordered wasn't good I waited 10 minutes with our waitress not in sight. My husband wanted to order us an alcoholic drink so we went to the bar to see if we could order it there to drink while we wait. We ran into our waitress and Then we were sadly advised that they were also out of rice!!! Rice?! How?! It's a Mexican restaurant! It doesn't take long to make Mexican rice. The waitress provided alternatives (mashed potatoes, fries or a salad). Then I was just irritated! It took them that long to tell us they were out of staples! Again I pushed my irritation aside for my daughter. Once we got our food, I ordered tacos the tacos were small and barely any meat in them. I got steak and it was so gross! It was grisly and I had to remove 1/2 the meat of my already small steak tacos. This was the worst food experience I've had! I will never be back or recommend! They did comp the fries we ended up ordering because who eats mashed potatoes with Mexican food? I felt like all of our food should have been discounted! I was highly disappointed!
