Hawaii Loa Ridge - 12.31.2022 1744

Hawaii Loa Ridge

Loved this mostly shady challenging trail…read more Hawai'i Loa only allows ten parked cars at the hiking parking lot. Make sure to have an ID Plan a few hours if you are going to the top. It's under 3 miles one way. There are some fairly steep spots which makes this hike beautiful and rigorous exercise. I'm no fan of heights so I stopped just at the 2.10 marker while my friends hiked to the top. It took 1 hour 20 minutes for us to casually get to this point. Bring a backpack to hold water rather than trying to hold it as you need your arms and hands for balance. I wish I would have worn hiking boots or shoes instead or running shoes for better grip. Beautiful views of the ocean. It's super peaceful and not the normal tourist trap so locals love this hike. What I suggest is to plan two hours-ish each way. Being water and a light snack and wear proper hiking shoes. Of course sunblock. Lol. There are some dogs with owners who are on a leash. Enjoy the views while being safe. Also you may want to check weather if a storm is in the future to make sure you don't get stuck.

Trail is well established but as you ascend going to the last ridge you'll encounter muddy and narrow trail which make it just a little bit difficult but it's manageable still. For those who are planning to hike w/ their dog nake sure leash is on and because it is a long hike and going to the top is really a tough one being on the 3rd or 4th ridge will actually give you an instagrammable picturesque perfect snap. But being on the top and end part of the hike unveil a much awesome view to feast on. It's really worth for all those stairs that you will go through. Pretty much this stairs are high I hope they'll renovate it. Hahaha. LoL. ~ It is a private property land so you better follow the instruction that the guard is instilling you and park on the designated area for hikers if you don't want your car to be towed. Closing time is 0700pm, but the guard will advice you to be at the parking lot at 0645pm. ~ But in our case we arrive at the parking lot at exactly 0710pm and luckily nobody give us ticket or towed our car. It took us 5hrs. to finish the hike (back-&-forth) because my husband took a lot of stops because of taking photos and live videos on Facebook. But if you guys are not like us who took a lot of photos you can hike this for maybe 3hours minimum, back-&-forth. It really depends on the pace you give it. But might as well to enjoy the trail by taking a moment to savor the most beautiful and wonderful view along the way. ~ The muscle pain is worth the hike on this. It will definitely give the challenge you are looking for in a hike. ~ Aloha and HAPPY JUANDERING!

Hmmm, what can I say...well, I love Mililani Mauka! Why? I'd probably have to say that this place…read morereminds me (a little) of my hometown in Upcountry Maui. I grew up in the country, so when my husband and I moved here to Oahu in 2001, we had our minds set on finding a place that we could call home away from home. One of the great things about Mililani Mauka is the family friendly amenities. One of them is the bike/walking trail, aka the Mililani Ravine Park. It's great for my runs or bike rides throughout the neighborhood. I pass through this park as part of my normal route on my runs. It's normally never used when I'm there. I'll maybe see one or two other people, but no more than that. So it's always nice and peaceful. Mililani Mauka also has several parks and recreation centers. All in all, it's a great town to raise a family or if you just want to get away from the city, but still be fairly close to everything. It's a safe community. Not too crowded. Well maintained. Country feel. Perfect.

Two elementary schools and one middle school occupy Mauka side. Also a self storage place as well. It is the perfect town to raise a family in. My parents live in this area as long as I can remember it being all red dirt everywhere, at the beginning when all of the housing were still being developed. Crazy how in 20 years how Mililani Mauka developed and came to be. I think they could have planned better about the in and out of this area during rush hour traffic though. One way in and one way out type deal. It is very safe to walk or jog at night, there are walking paths but i would walk the streets at nights vs dark paths. I always see families or single joggers up and down the main street of Meheula Parkway or side streets. There are neighborhood watches and your neighbors look out for each other in this community. It is just a great neighborhood to be a part of.

I've never met such RUDE, MONEY HUNGRY and ENTITLED people in my life. DO NOT give your hard earned vacation money to these literal dirtbags. Simply put, we pulled up with our rental car, paid $200 cash for a parking pass and as we were going into the garage to park, our rental car broke down. Of course we ended up getting a new rental car that came with (of course) a new license plate. New car = new license plate = need a new updated parking pass. The girl at the gate (who later boasted that her family owned the company) gave us a hard time about "pulling into the entrance incorrectly" and made us do a complicated and time consuming turn in order to enter the way she wanted. When we returned, she AGAIN decided to play her power card and gave us a hard time by pointing out that our Parking Pass license plate didn't match our current license plate. Valid. We explained the situation in which our first car broke down and got towed, NEITHER of which was OUR fault. Hoping they'd understand and SIMPLY WRITE US AN UPDATED PARKING PASS, the girl snarked and said "wellll actually you'd need a whole new pass and pay ANOTHER $200". We were so dumbfounded and tried to explain again hoping she'd see how the situation was not our fault. The girl continued to be rude and dismissed everything we were trying to say, rolling her eyes and staring at her phone while talking to us. She kept saying it's "part of policy" but when we requested to see a copy of such "policy" she made an excuse of "we don't have a copy". We then asked to speak to a manager and she declined that too. We then asked for a customer service number and she (again) declined, stating that "it wouldn't work". She then remarked that her family owns the company as if that made a difference??? She ends up calling hotel security so we called the cops because the situation was just ridiculous at this point. The funniest part is once the cop arrived, THE COP AGREED WITH US TOO. The cop literally said out loud "these people just look for a power trip and entitlement." Finally the girl called her manager aka her mommy who literally could not give a shit about anything but the phone glued to her face. Upon arrival, the star Momager of the Year obnoxiously waved her hand and said loudly "I only have a minute here, I NEED TO GET ON A BOAT SOON" while checking her phone just as much as her daughter. Even the cop raised her eyebrows in disbelief, I swear this disgusting company should be on a sit-com. Momager refunded us minus some and then whisked away in her car. Some other hotel guests came up to us after and stated how they see an altercation like this happen almost EVERY MONTH. We have travelled all over the world and this is the WORST customer service experience we have EVER had. This company is an EMBARRASSMENT to the good people of Hawaii and I hope others just trying to enjoy their vacation never come across this type of BS.

They own 4-5 vehicles (on both sides of me & then one over) for each house hold. They literally exchange cars everyday into the guest spots. I've also been towed for now reason! My car wasn't in the red & had a pass.

No one likes to be lied to right? These jokers alleged to have dropped off flyers regarding termite treatment. They did not. No one got them. Then they tried to blame it on all the owners. Lazy lazy up at the zippys probably eating pupus instead of working. Spending your money. Now I like the grounds keepers, nothing against them. But do you really need to have them leaf blowing 6 days a week? How about spending the money on a little more useful projects? Security guys, nice guys but really don't have enough. It's gotten shady though. HOA members play favorites and let people get away with double parking, parking in guest spots, or allowing some to work on their vehicles while on blocks. For sure picking favorites. Ask yourself..is this a place you want to live only to toss a ridiculous amount of money on? Hear loud neighbors all the time, no guarantee of mutual respect? I sure wouldn't..
