After 20 minutes, I was told to go home and somebody would call me to reschedule because they were busy. Her prognosis was grim at first, but she is exceeding their expectations and is now on to skilled nursing here at the rehab. I was told it is called TIRR, but nowhere on the building does it state this so don't let that confuse you. The facility is easy to find, parking is a breeze and navigating through the building is simple with everything marked so well. During my visit, I was pleased with the cleanliness, attentiveness, responsiveness and overall room layout. She is in a private room with a private bathroom. I'm not sure if all rooms are private. A schedule is given to the patient each night with what is expected/planned for the next day. The goal is for her (and all patients) to get better and stronger, so I like the planned therapy and for her to know what is expected of her to achieve the results needed. I've heard excellent feedback from other people about this place. Everything I have read and now seen/experienced is A+++. My friend even said the food was good. The Houston Metroplex is home to fantastic healthcare and I think this is another representation to that statement. Anyone going through tough situations like this, my blessings to you. Stay strong.

We had all of the therapy approved in advance - in writing from the hospital - and they charged $2200 for speech therapy which the insurance would not cover. Let me be straight not all nursing staff, those on the 6pm - 6 am to be criticizing, demeaning and unhelpful. They fail to have respect for the patients who are rude. Communication with about 55% of the CNA's Is mostly unfamiliar careful wording is needed for expression. This is called now Avir. The administration is cold, distance, and totally unavailable. For instance, I was requested to submit a sample of my urine. This was a 2 day attempt. First the bowl wasn't very secure, fell in the water. Second attempt was much better, caught what was needed, they failed to be picked up my the 6 pm - 6am, so my 3rd attempt I was successful. Now I have to wait to see if it will be picked up. Another insult I was waiting outside for my 98 year mother to arrive which made me late for lunch. A troop of culinary staff came to my door asking when I would be finished with my lunch, I explained I had received my warmup food and was eating it now. When I finished with my one plate, bowl, and dessert. Called for the pickup, no one showed. Most recently the fire drill was blasting, being from the public sector I am aware of the procedure if I was informed of the drill. Was not informed. A staff member hurriedly past me grabbing the extinguisher. Didn't say anything about a fire drill so I continue on the hallway, as I got into view of the gather CNA's/ maybe maintenance member. One pointed to me saying "why is out". It could have been a better way of communicating to me such as "we are having a fire drill please return to your room" no one told me it was a drill, if someone had said this you me I would have wholeheartedly participate correctly. My linen hasn't been changed in over a week. Asked for a change nothing happened. There're are other incidents I would like to mention I have written to long. Hopefully I have given you a view of what to expect. Oh last observation when you call for assistance in your room, plan on waiting 20 - 30,40 minutes for an answer

I would give it 0 stars if I could. This place needs to be shut down!…read more My experience there was worse than anyone could ever imagine. The social worker and the director of hospitality both are there only for the paycheck. They do not care about the patients at all! My husband had a terrible experience. I just wish I would have known what I know now. My husband was there only a few months ago and I DO NOT believe they have changed for the better as they reply that to eveyone that gives them a negative review! They meds were continued to be given incorrectly, they broke his glasses and would not replace, they lost his wrist brace that he was required to wear as he came in with a broken wrist. I could go on and on but these are some of the more serious actions that happened there. I never got updates on his rehab. He was home 6 hours and fell again and ended back in ER. I do not believe he was ready to be released! They want to admit patients, collect their money and move them on. The patients are not cared for at all Please please consider other places over this awful place!!! You will regret it if you put a loved one there.

With any facility, the staff support goes up and down, and we were fortunate to have caring staff at the time of our visit. We were impressed by the hands-on Physical Therapy in the gym room I did stay overnight the first night with my family member and found that staff were there to keep an eye on the residents Appreciate the care for my family member from all the staff. Being in the medical profession, we had a positive experience with short-term rehab here

When you are searching for an assisted living or memory care location for your loved one, trust me…read moreNOT ALL are the same and sadly many will promise things they cannot and do not deliver! We are so lucky to have found The Abbey at Westminster Place. While some may say it is too pricy or only consider price when looking that the care is all the same. THAT IS SO FAR FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY!!! The Abbey is worth every penny! So far, I visit my father with a smile each day rather than worrying what "problem" or lack of care I would discover. The Abbey follows follow protocols, are professional and compassionate, are willing to work with family members to address requests or concerns, have safety procedures in place to ensure your loved ones safety, kind staff who truly enjoy working there (that is hard to find), and most of all acknowledges when the ball was dropped and willing to make changes when necessary. Tameka (Wellness Director) truly listens to your concerns and requests and creates a care plan to best assist your loved one. If you a concern, she is quick to investigate and get back to you. Rukayat (AL Director) is truly compassionate and is so kind during her assessment of your loved one. While she needs to do an assessment to recommend the best fit for your loved one, she does NOT demoralize your loved one! Jill and Norma (Activities Directors) put together a wonderful calendar of events that my father truly enjoys! Raquel (Move In Coordinator) assisted me throughout the move in process and followed through after to make sure everything needed was completed. Ashley (front desk receptionist) allows greets me with a smile and ready to answer my questions and get me answers as I learn the ropes. No place is perfect but The Abbey checks so many boxes which were not provided at our previous location. Most of all, both my father and I enjoy just being part of this community! The level of activities and healthy yummy food here at The Abbey is amazing!!! Each activity I have been to, I see the staff engaging with the residents and the staff leading the activity excited to be there and offer this for the residents! My dad's bubbly spirit has returned after moving to The Abbey! The care staff whom I have seen are ready to help you and point you in the right direction if they cannot. They truly enjoy their job and helping their residents! The administration attend many events and know the residents. The are professional and polite. Sadly many assisted living and memory care facilities take advantage of the elderly who are the most vulnerable and silence their voice or twist events and then blame on the residents lack of memory! Remember most of all, no location is perfect but what I have seen in these past weeks, The Abbey at Westminster Place is BY FAR superior and I look forward to attending the activities which truly occur when they are stated and well attended. The residents I have met so far at The Abbey, greet me with a smile and often ask me to join them or sit down and chat with them. They truly look happy. If you are need for an independent, assisted living or memory care facility, please consider contacting The Abbey at Westminster Place. Renee will be happy to give you a tour and answer your questions.

Selecting The Abbey at Westminster in Houston was a wonderful choice for me. Although you may not be in this area, look at the description of this place for comparison wherever u are. There are several layouts here. I chose one bedroom with 1 & 1/2 baths. Closet is huge. Living area while not what I used to have is lovely and ample. Food that is always an issue is wonderful. There are choices for all meals, substitutions are available, special dietary needs are accommodated and Chef will work with anyone. T he only drawback is that you are likely to gain a bit of weight mostly because the desserts are fantastic. One of the things that mattered to me was how to maintain my physical shape at my age. The exercise choices are unbelievable and will suit whatever you need. There is also Hydrotherapy included in the monthly rent. It's rare to have it and helps me so much. You will have to look up what it is. The moving in process has been as good as it can be. Staff have been so accommodating in this very difficult process. Also, must mention that the other residents here have been kind and welcoming. They all seem to relate to how hard it is to make such an enormous change in these later years. Good luck to whoever is reading this. Life can still be good!
