Love this deli. They chose the perfect spot to open. My co-workers and myself frequent this location daily. They have fruit, regular deli sandwiches and platters, good beer selection and other treats. The workers are very friendly and even know my usual. Live right near this place so I've tried to come here for sandwiches, quick beer pick ups, OJ runs and more. Every time I try to buy things here, I get upcharged. They don't put prices on most of their items and I'm pretty sure that's on purpose, so they can tell you whatever they want to charge you once you go to the counter. I've taken orange juice to the counter and been told it's $7, a pack of beer and told it's $20+. Now I'm from NYC so I know when I'm being scammed, and I confront the situation like WTF you trying to do here? EVERY TIME. Then they say 'oops sorry it's actually lower price' and ring it up again at the actual price. Actual price is often still higher than what I'm used to at bodegas but Williamsburg is a bougie place so like we get it, but also the attempt to scam every time I've come here is disgusting. Food's ok, service is good. It's overpriced because of its location. Not so overpriced, but delis near Montrose Avenue are like $6 for a chopped cheese and made way better. They charge $9, just because it's next to Mccarren park in a "nicer" neighborhood. Side note that no one asked for: the gentrified areas of Williamsburg have no culture or sense of community. This deli/bodega is everything North Williamsburg needed. The sandwiches are solid. I've tried the tuna melt, the one that is roast beef and hot sauce, and the buffalo chicken sandwich. All were enjoyable. And the best part? It didn't break the bank. Whenever I check out I'm pleasantly surprised by how low the total cost is, whether I'm just getting a sandwich, or also adding in a seltzer and chips. The beer prices are pretty decent (for NYC) as well. As I've waited for my sandwiches to be done, I've browsed the aisles and the prices seem to be good across the board. When Millennium Market has been your only option for something quick and close by for so long, this is a welcome surprise. TERRIBLE!!!!! Literally so gross. They put A slice of meat and A slice of cheese and GLOBS of mayo when I specifically asked for a small amount. I can't even give them the benefit of the doubt and say "you get what you pay for" because I've been to a million delis with the same prices that are 100x better. Moved into town in April and was excited to see a quality looking bodega right across the way. Was not disappointed one bit! The guys that run the place are wonderful people and will make any kind of meal any time of day and have everything you'll ever need to shop for in a pinch. This is my go-to spot for sandwiches. The price isn't bad and I have never had an issue with my food. I like that they don't upcharge my order just because I add avocado to it!
