Terrible service, nothing was open, staff were just sitting around and talking. Very rude cashiers.

Our first time here and new to area Great food amazing service definitely our go to coffee placeread more

Black & Brew in downtown Lakeland is exactly what a neighborhood café should be--welcoming,…read moreenergetic, and full of flavor. The standout for me was the Holiday Ham breakfast sandwich, and it absolutely lived up to its name. Built on a flaky buttermilk biscuit, it layers a light, fluffy egg soufflé with thinly sliced ham, praline bacon that adds just the right touch of sweetness, and a cranberry orange jam that ties everything together with a bright, unexpected pop. Every bite tasted thoughtful and seasonal without being overcomplicated--comfort food elevated. I paired it with Jennie's Dolce seasonal espresso drink, and it was so good I immediately wanted another. Even more impressive? The second one tasted just as perfect as the first--a small detail that says a lot about their consistency and care behind the bar. The coffee shop ambience immediately stands out, with a relaxed yet polished vibe that makes it just as ideal for a casual morning as it is for catching up on work or meeting friends. Service was warm and efficient, and you can tell this place has become a staple in the downtown community. If you appreciate creative twists on classic breakfast favorites and expertly crafted coffee drinks, Black & Brew is well worth the stop. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

edit: there's so much to address here, but you're…read moremanipulating the stories to paint yourself as a frail old woman who can't do anything wrong. that's a lie. first of all. i never gave you permission to call me "Sky", you just started doing that because you couldn't be bothered to put the effort in. my name is Skylar. second. i have experienced quite a few things i mentioned here. otherwise, i wouldn't have mentioned it! i know how you are and im not stupid. i wouldn't speak on something i don't know about. however. we're not the mean girls - you are. but you're too stuck in your own way to realize your wrongdoings. not naming names, but we are not the only people to feel this way. you talk badly about volunteers, employees, interns, and customers behind their back - all while talking sweetly to their face, calling them "Lovie". you have no right to tell us that we are "mean girls", as we're just standing up to you after the things you've said and done to us. also stop stalking my social medias from the KCL accounts. i see it and it's weird. :) original: this review is based on my personal experience as a volunteer. this was previously a 5-star review, but after spending more time around Cindy, the owner, I've changed it to 1 star. i volunteered at KCL for a year and consistently saw sick cats (worms, respiratory issues, vomiting, etc.), largely because Cindy refuses to use proper disinfectants. aside from one product mandated by a vet, cleaning relies on essential oils and herbal soaps, which are not sufficient for disease control. the employees and interns are genuinely kind people, and my opinion of them hasn't changed. However, due to Cindy's behavior, i stopped volunteering and visiting entirely. the lounge was once under investigation because of her behavior, and based on my experience, those concerns were valid. Cindy presents herself as compassionate, but she is manipulative, unprofessional, and often cruel. She talks badly about employees to others, slut-shames staff, dismisses sexual harassment, spreads personal and intimate information, and retaliates when employees or volunteers set boundaries. volunteers are guilt-tripped into overworking, and those who say no are treated differently. she also speaks disrespectfully about paying customers and regularly gives unsolicited medical opinions despite not being a doctor. when concerns are brought to her, she deflects blame, refuses accountability, and dismisses criticism. Cindy claims KCL is struggling due to lack of visitors, but the high prices, tense environment, overall mismanagement, and homeless camp in the parking lot may be why. i sent her a detailed message explaining my concerns; her response was dismissive and condescending, and she took no responsibility. the cats, staff, and volunteers deserve far better than this leadership.
