However, on this Saturday evening, me & some buds were in the mood to try anew! Anyway, Adolf's has a cool/great vibe and friendly patrons & staff. Very lively atmosphere overall (see pics). Wings were great as expected, & blue cheese A+. We also tried the fried mozz which was scrumptious too. The one ding is that we had to wait 2+ hours for a table due to unfortunate circumstances: 1). The back dining room was reserved for private event leaving only the modestly sized front/bar area, and a big party consumed 80% of those few tables. Also, there seemed to be almost zero bar seat turnover. 2). Two schmoes sat at our eventual two top for the entire two hours milking just ONE beer each... yep, one small sip per ~20 minutes. We chalked it up to bad luck, but the staff were apologetic to us, and eventually gave those two their check. When they finally left, we were beyond famished, so it was nice to finally sit & order wings after all that time!

The kitchen is right off the bar and didn't look well kept, we decided against getting food here because of the look of things. Not sure I would come back, but it was interesting for a visit. Obviously a neighborhood place, the Blackthorn offered a full bar, cool vibe, an extensive menu, and friendly service. The Mr. & I both opted for the Friday fish fry special. It came with a huge piece of haddock, choice of potato (I opted for the baked potato and the Mr. got a sweet potato), macaroni salad, cole slaw, and an assortment of rolls + regular and herbed butter. Everything was delicious but I couldn't finish it all - so the Mr. got extra. He didn't complain! Haha Since we were both so stuffed, we took cannolis to go. Food 4/5 Service 5/5…read moreAmbiance 5/5 This is the kind of PUB ( really a pub) that reminds you of "Cheers" where everybody knows your name! It's a lot of fun to sit right up at the bar and watch the fellow barbecue your burger or grilled chicken sandwich, interact with the other diners sitting at the bar, and chat with the bartender. It really is quite unique. Very quaint. Woody. Comfort feeling. My grilled chicken Patti snake in the grass with spinach was very tasty. It's real meat not like a prepared chicken put together. I don't know what took me so long to coming here, but I definitely will be back! I knocked down one star for the food because they serve it with a bag of chips of which are very salty and really not tasty. If you're going to give chips on the side, make it at least decent chips. Also, I felt the $12 for a glass of house of wine was a little pricey. Oh and I should add that this is a very bare-bones establishment. There's no napkins. They put a roll of paper towel towels up on the counter and you can just break off a piece.
