During my last visit there the Sales Counselor, Kara, took the time to step outside and talk with one of the residents about a problem he was having, and she showed such a lovely compassion and way of following up on the issue. There's a noticeable culture of kindness and respect here, not just toward visitors and families, but most importantly, toward the residents. It's clear that the staff are well-trained, engaged, and truly care about the people they support. In a region where finding quality care at an affordable rate can be a real challenge, AlmaVia offers a meaningful balance. Some are really amazing and have their hearts in the right place and do an amazing job of caretaking for a very vulnerable and challenging clientele. There are others who do the bare minimum and you can tell that they hate their job and are only there for the money. The manager Aaron is the worse. So unresponsive and does not manage the staff well. He's hardly ever on site so he doesn't see what is going on. Sometimes they are so understaffed, it's not only negligent, it's dangerous. I couldn't recommend the garden area (the memory care area) for anyone I cared for. Oh and it is soooo expensive for the really crappy food and super small rooms and problematic service. Don't be fooled by the great tour they give, you won't get all of the amenities that the regular residents have access to.

I've been so impressed with Janet's Residential Facility that I've referred many families and even my physicians have her on file for referral. Two families I know personally have placed their parents with Janet and are very pleased with the care. Janet only cares for a handful of residents. She's a best kept secret. Marie, the scheduler, followed up promptly and worked quickly to find the right caregiver for our 98-year-old mother. She made the process smooth and reassuring during a time when that meant a lot to us. And then there's Luzandra--truly wonderful. She was caring, attentive, and brought such warmth and joy into our mom's day. Our mother felt safe, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyed her time with her. In fact, she said, "she's a keeper." My sister was in an assisted nursing care facility for 6 months, and the thought of her continuing to reside in a similar environment was heartbreaking. While there, the numerous and almost monthly visits to the ER due to UTIs, inadequate doctor and care oversite, lack of consistent and timely drug and therapy services was truly unacceptable for her health. My sister is now living with my family in our home, and CrossRoads has allowed us to find an alternative path to her care along with using other support teams. From CrossRoads, we received scheduled physical, occupational and nursing services. Shanel de-escalates the stress and uncertainty surrounding medical situations. Shanel provides the confidence that home care is a viable and very workable situation in partnering with my sister's medical team. It's very obvious that Shanel enjoys her work and patients, and truly focuses on the customers' needs. When my sister arrived at our home, Sabrina, Occupational Therapist, immediately identified tools, equipment and recommendations that provided additional comfort to my sister and to our family and support caregivers in mitigating our physical demands. She was incredibly efficient and facilitated accommodating our needs immediately with her experience and resources. I feel our sister received the best care from Sabrina and CrossRoads in tailoring our home as effectively as possible in maximizing my sister's care. Equally important as the effective direct skills of the CrossRoads staff, is the intangible support they provide my sister and to us. Traditionally, Chinese families will eat moon cakes whilst enjoying the view of the bright round moon, so Mid Autumn Festival is an important Chinese celebration.. I did not find Larry di Giacomo to be very responsive to my needs. Whenever I called, I would get a secretary and when I finally did get him on the phone, he would always remind me to 'just call the 800 number', which made me and my business with him seem unimportant. I personally prefer to transact my business and follow-up needs with the same person who SOLD me the insurance. In short, his demeanor and the language he used really DID make me feel unimportant. It's not like I call him once a week, I called maybe once or twice a year, tops. But he always made he feel like I was somehow imposing on his precious time! When my needs expanded to include additional insurance coverage(liability+umbrella ,when I moved to my new residence) he seemed very unwilling to do the extra research for me. I frankly asked him if my business was "too small of a commission" for him to bother to go out of his way to get information for me. He seems to me to be an old school kind of insurance agent, but without the old school kid-glove service. Maybe he is independently wealthy and living off commission from ongoing policies, so there is no impetus to really "wow" you with personality and/or service. So ------- there was no impetus for me either to stay and give him my business. So umimpressed was I with our most recent interaction that I finally I switched to a friendlier, more accommodating insurance agent who based in Marin. I am much happier now, after I switched.
