My memories at Parkside Candy start as a little girl in the 80's when my gram lived up the street. I remember going to see the Easter bunny and getting chocolates. Was just in the Brighton location for dark chocolate pretzels and chocolate coconut clusters. Very expensive and quality has gone down. The coconut clusters tasted waxy and there was hardly any chocolate on the pretzels. Coconut clusters were $18.00 per pound!!!! read more

Today I went into the new store on Main Street in Williamsville to buy some sponge candy as a gift. I wanted to purchase a one pound box and a half pound box. Only the pound size was offered in a box, I asked the sales person to please box a half pound for me, or to please ask if she was able to sell part of a popcorn display that offered half pound sponge candy in a box. Sales person called manager at "main" store who said no. I said this does not make sense, please put a half pound into a box, sales person said only the pound boxes were available. Half pound is in a bag. (not nice for gifting) . Zero customer relations OR willingness to help meet a customers needs. I left the store without purchasing anything and drove to Watsons. A further drive for me, but had both half pound boxes and one pound boxes of sponge candy The sales associate also asked me if I wanted it wrapped, and did so. So very disappointed. Very much tried to support the local business along main street in the Village, I will NOT ever shop Parkside Candy again. read more

Lovely interior; glad to see it restored. The chocolate is so-so, and their ice-cream is not home-made, but I go there for the old-fashioned and quaint atmosphere. The service is nice; they have uniforms and quite a few of the employees are older ladies. It's always nice and cool inside too. Aside from ice-cream and milkshakes, they have a small selection of sandwiches, including roast beef. The food is good, milkshakes are tasty snd generous, and it's good value. They have a parking lot, and stay open later than you may expect. read more

This place was an absolute surprise and is a total gem! We had heard that Buffalo was famous for "sponge candy". We didn't know what that was and we wanted to try it. Using Yelp, we found this spot. It looks very seedy on the outside of the building, but when you walk in...WOW!! Total surprise!! My wife, a Buffalo native, introduced my Brooklyn self to a lovely, if not slightly weathered, shop that transports one back in time upon entering (except for the prices). The interior harkens back to 1927 with lovely tiled floors and a cavernous, decorative ceiling. The candy has a creamy texture, unlike many places that sell waxy or chalky mixtures, and although it is a tad pricy for a blue collar city, it is money well spent. The staff smile and mean it and serve with speed and genuine aplomb. This place should be in all the guide books. Go for lunch and stay for ice cream or candy!!! read more

Went on Saturday at 7 PM for sandwiches and ice cream, but were told they were only serving ice cream. After a fine meal at Lakeside Diner, we returned at 8:10 PM for ice cream, but were told they weren't serving ice cream. What a grumpy old couple that runs it! We decided to go to Lake Effect Ice Cream on Hertel and had an awesome dessert there. You should too, and avoid Parkside Candy, as it is a waste of time. read more

I love Parkside Candy and their 1920/30's decor. My favorite item to get is the banana split! I also enjoy their regular food menu as well.

This place is like stepping back in time. They have a limited lunch menu of chicken, tuna or roast beef on a roll served with potato chips in a basket, plus a cesear salad, and soup. They have an array of sundae or milkshake flavors and LOTS of candy choices. This place is cute, the food is good, the prices are fair and the architecture is a sight to see, I recommend it highly . read more

On monday 7/30/18 I decided to take my wife to Parkside candy for lunch. She had never been and my mom would take me there when I was a child. My wife is currently using a walker so I went inside to see if they served lunch.There were no customers in the place. I expressed that my wife must eat gluten free. A older lady employee said rather harshly-"we are not gluten free". I asked if I could see a menu- she responded bluntly -"not to keep". No I just want to look. I saw a chicken breast sandwich so I asked her if they could do that without the roll. She said "I suppose so , but the price will be the same". That is typical and did not bother me. I went to escort my wife inside and then thought, Why would I give my business to such a nasty individual. I explained this to my wife and we went instead to Vizzi's on Kenmore and had an amazing lunch. If Parkside Candy fails it will possibly be a result of rude service. read more

After reading about the recent renovations at Parkside candy I was anxious to check it out and bring a family member who was visiting from out of town. What a complete disappointment. First, upon walking into a candy store, I expect to smell chocolate which would entice me to buy chocolate. Since the place smelled like fresh paint or something else, probably due to recent work, this chocoholic lost her taste for candy and instead decided to try the old fashioned ice cream bar. When attempting to order at the ice cream bar our party was instructed to take a seat for table service. After waiting several minutes without service we got up to get our own menus and continued to wait. As we sat waiting, about a half dozen people walked in, went to the counter, and were promptly served as we continued to sit there ignored. The two woman working the bar appeared frazzled and confused about who was going to wait on us. One finally came over after apparently losing the bet since she had a giant sized attitude and puss on her face and couldn't manage even a smile, just a "what do you want?" We tried to lighten the mood without success and although I ordered a sundae with vanilla bean ice cream and raspberry sauce I got a hot fudge sundae. Sadly, I didn't even feel comfortable bringing it to her attention knowing that it would only worsen her mood and our experience. Furthermore, although both other tables in the place that were occupied had water served with their orders in glasses we had to get up, go back to the bar, ask for water and it was brought to us in cheap plastic cups. The only reason I gave this a 2 star instead of a 1 star is because the sundaes were delicious.. However, going out for ice cream is suppose to be a treat and a fun experience and this one left us feeling let down. It's easy to get ice cream treats all over this great town. This place is going to have to do more than slap a coat of paint on the walls to attract business. read more

When I walk into a chocolate shop, the last thing I want to smell is cumin and chili. I purchased a container of chocolate covered popcorn ( over $17.00) from the Parkside Candy store on Colvin and Brighton in Tonawanda. My husband grabbed a handful and put in his mouth and pulled out cob webs.!! A bug came crawling out and the entire top of the container of popcorn had cob webs all over it. Totally disgusting. I took the container back to the store and the woman behind the counter was rude and showed no remorse. Never said she was sorry (on behalf of Parkside Candies) and acted like it was no big deal. She appeared to be busy as she was unloading candy into boxes and made me feel like I was bothering her. This woman never even gave me eye contact, asked if I used a credit card then asked if I wanted a refund. I certainly did NOT want another container of popcorn. I emailed this same incident last week through the website and have not received a reply! I will never step foot in that place again!! read more

Every year my mom sends me products from home around the holidays. I used to look forward to the big box of sponge candy. This year the candy was a total disappointment. Around a third of the box was bad. The center was shriveled up and chrystalized . I have contact their customer service page and have received no response. Guess they don't care about the product they produce. Save your money Mom, don't send this again. read more

I've been to multiple stores the Eastern Hills door I left after about 7 or 8 minutes of not being waited on no worker inside usually they hide in the back room because they don't want to deal with the customers I've been to the McKinley Mall store and dealt with some of the friendlier ladies there it was Teresa Joanne I'm just multiple other ones there they were very very friendly and knew what they were talking about I also went into the McKinley Mall store once and spoke with some nasty just really unfriendly unhelpful very standoffish name Ann-Marie I believe. I then pointed out to Anne-Marie that there was some chocolate that was white spotted I'm well aware that this is incorrect tempering of the chocolate or they're cutting foreigners because you're basically just boiled all the water or any type of moisture out of it I pointed this out to her she proceeded to remove it and put it in a bag to a counter in the bag somewhere having my doubts I went back in about 10-15 minutes later and wouldn't you know at the same chocolates back in the Shelf they're overcharging for crap products it's been remelted many many times over as well nor would I ever work for somebody who belittles their employees in front of customers read more

This place is great! Went with my grandma and daughter today while visiting buffalo. she was telling me she use to go their as a kid. And was all excited. So naturally I felt good. But when I got their I was surprised. The outside looks really run down and I was worried. But the inside is gorgeous "a classic old time shop" my grandma likes to to say. We ordered a banana split to share. It was made so delightfully and was very filling. Our waiter was also very kind and helpful. It was very busy and it seemed like they only had one person waiting on all the tables. However he still did an excellent job. And was very kind and respectful. My daughter spilled her water. And instead of getting angry and giving us napkins to clean it up. He cleaned it up and made her feel better about it. Joking and laughing it off. Even though I could tell he was stressed by the amount of people he was waiting on. He still managed to still do a great job. And the older ladie who served our banana split was also very kind.
