Had some business at the Hayward Court on Friday after Christmas. After driving around looking for…read moreparking we finally found the entrance to the parking garage. What a round about strange entrance. After grabbing our ticket at the gate the parking garage is off in the distance across an expanse of concrete and asphalt. No lines. No arrows. Nothing except I guess we go straight and hopefully anyone leaving doesn't run into us. Easy parking since it was friday after Christmas and few people were working in the area. Rates were posted but we must have been inside the time for paying because it was free. Not a comfortable place to be. Felt unsafe.

This parking lot serves for county offices and court offices across the street. In the first floor…read moreof the county offices is social services AKA welfare. They used to take cash payments, the prices are right at $0.75 per hour.. which you can dig down into your change in your cup holder and find that to pay your parking. 3 months ago they changed this policy to credit card only. It is in order to create a safe environment for the collectors at the booth. I've been calling and talking to people because people who go to the welfare office a r at a higher risk of not having a credit card. When I asked the toll taker what happens if I don't have credit card? They said they will send me the bill for $0.75 along with a $10 service fee. So if you don't have a credit card, you will have to pay $10 service fee. This is absolutely unreasonable! I have so far called two council members of Hayward, spoke with two supervisors at the welfare office which they were unaware of the situation, three Booth members that all verified $10 fee if the bill is mailed, and the manager overseeing laz parking company. The person at laz stated that there were going to be accommodations for the people from welfare with no credit cards but it just has not rolled out yet. I explained to him that it's been at least 3 months and something should be rolled out by now, validation at the county office of some sort. I will continue to challenge my local government to fix this problem for our poorest citizens.

Decent Mall, it's good to still have one in the East Bay!!…read more I usually get some good deals in JC Pennys, that might be the largest store in this mall along with Macys! There's a food court and movie theater downstairs. This mall isn't huge, decent sized to me. Sears used to be major in this mall, it even had auto center there. I remember getting tires put on there back in the day. Now it's gone, along with a lot of other stores. But there are still plenty of stores here, enough to keep this like a real Mall. And I always liked the location, right off of the 880 freeway in Hayward, very easy to get to!!!

The progressive Mid-Century shopping center was designed by the acclaimed architecture firm John Graham & Associates, known for projects as Seattle's Space Needle A shopping mall you wanted to hang out and stay awhile but with changing demographic, online commerce and sadly, crime it has evolved into what it is now. Just a shell of what it once was with a couple of stores I'd go for a quick visit. When in the area, I'll get a 15-min Chinese acupressure chair massage (Round One entrance). Extra star for the great memories of working at the mall (making friends) and learning what good customer service is compared to now. Sadly, most the anchor stores are gone like Sears with JcPenneys and Macy's hanging by a thread with minimal inventory.
