Convenient downtown location - gets the job done but no frills. Currently there are 6 foot tall weeds growing there. Bart is cheap and fairly reliable - I use it now and then - depending on where you are going and if parking is difficult or expensive it can be a bad idea. I don't like the hours. That's lousy. The good news is this BART Station does a good job of connecting my workaholic cousin and best friends along the line. It's your average BART station that's stuck in the 1980s. This is an interesting BART station. Well sheltered from the elements. Now the bad news. This station is in a sketchy part of Alameda/Fremont county. Do not spend more than 30 minutes here or leave your car here longer than that. There have been reports of Italian or Romanian pickpockets here. If you are waiting for a bus here, be aware of your surroundings. read more

I am so upset. My wallet was stolen here and the thieve(s) somehow spent hundreds of dollars in only a few minutes. When I tried to interact with the station agent to talk about it, she was having a FaceTime / TikTok conversation on the phone and basically refused to interact me for any length of time. The whole environment seems shady. At least the BART police were kind when they showed up. Really, I believe nearly half the people in this station are fare evaders and of those, a bunch of them are obviously just hanging around the station waiting to cause trouble. When I told the station agent this she said "I know," but insisted it wasn't her job to do anything about it. "I'm not BART police." I really hate that I have come here multiple times a week. I get to where I need to go, but 2 agents were present today when exiting bart, multiple people cheating the fare system not paying, agents do not do anything about it. The same with BayFair earlier in the day, people jumping the gates and not paying. As a person who works hard for their money to legitimately use the system for their transportation needs, I find that they need to do better...... read more

Terrible. Parked here and took BART to Oakland Coliseum. After the game got back to my car in the Hayward BART parking lot with my window smashed in. Nothing was stolen but still a pain in the ass. Insurance has a 1k deductible. So, thanks to the lawlessness of the Bay Area, I am out $400.. this shit makes me question why I'm still living here in the bay. read more

The good news is, the Hayward BART station has not reached the "filth" level of say, the Civic Center BART station in San Francisco yet. I say yet because it's definitely heading to that level of dirtiness. There used to be a time where the tunnel, which connects to the parking structure, used to not smell not like dank urine. Not any more! Didn't matter what time of day I had to go through that tunnel, but it reeks like urine all the time. The main area where the buses stop always seems to have a lot of garbage thrown around. Not only that, but the "characters" (I use that term loosely) which hang around the station do nothing to instill confidence or safety while having to wait for a bus. Bathrooms are a mess! I had to take BART for 4 months straight while attending a job training in San Francisco. The one good thing I noticed is every time I got back around 7:30 PM, the Hayward Police would always be there. Not sure if that is a good or bad sign, but at least I knew I was safe for the time while I waited for either my ride or the bus. read more

I haven't taken BART from this location in ages....maybe I'm still scarred from seeing my Toyota on car jacks (15 yrs ago) on the top level of the parking structure. I consider myself lucky as it must've 'in progress' around 8pm...no tires lost but gained 2 car jacks! Over time it has gotten better and one of the few stations with FREE parking and convenient to Downtown...especially food truck Mondays and Hayward's Neumanali restaurant in an old Victorian...good food and cute atmosphere. Will have to come back and try that Movie theater, beer pubs, plenty of food options, farmer's market (saturdays) and a lot of Hayward charm if you keep an open mind and not scurrred :) read more

Parking lot: Easy to park at on a Friday a little after 9am, but a little harder to find. It's on the south-west side of the BART tracks, and you have to walk through a basement easeway to get to the station. Paying for parking: Not easy at all. Apparently you need cash. You can't use pennies (which I get, but you can't exchange pennies for that last nickel). You have to pay before going through the turnstiles. If you had already gone through turnstiles, you need to use the non-Clipper card/ticketed exit nearest to the attendant booth to get through to pay. Attendant: Meh. Not really helpful. I mean, she ended up having to write down my parking stall number because we couldn't figure this thing out together. I still prefer to park at the Dublin/Pleasanton, West Dublin/Pleasanton, and Orinda stations. read more

I guess a review on Yelp is to talk about your experience as it pertains to the location at which you are patronizing. I guess that makes me somewhat of a reporter- a myriad of sorts where I can focus on several experiences of just a main one with all it's intricate parts in place. After reading reviews over the years one can shape and define the experiences for the followers to interpret one main theme therefore leaving some of the details behind or forgotten. This photo I posted is one I wish could.l be forgotten. Who the heck allows a persons freedom to be destined based on perception. Factually, we all our guilty of this, for this is built on the fabric in which we were taught since birth. We pre-judge and pre- evaluate a person by what we think about ourselves. It's actually quite harsh. Many of us may think well there are rules that we must follow if we are to parade in public on transportation provided by government entities. Often however, we forget that we are the government- and how these things affect us as individuals effects us collectively as well. Here in Hayward on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon the struggle continues for some of us. Some of us Bart riders can be profiled into perpetrators of sorts. But isn't everyone? "He who is without ... throw the first stone..." Maybe I am ranting a bit. Maybe I am sensitive to skin tone arrest or stop and search procedures based on the law, the government and finally the people. But it's "we" not he. We need to change some things. It's the 21st century and we still police one another like fear is a relevancy. But it's not, neither are mistakes, or youth or black or white- the day we learn that it just is, and we take back our rightful place on this planet. It's hard to rate EVERY BART station on the line. Especially hard to rate my home station, Hayward. I love BART. I have other reviews on stations and the EZ Pass. BART takes me everywhere I want to go. Well, almost everywhere. Are the agents nice. Not particularly? Are they nice at any other station? No. Have the agents given me breaks when my tickets didn't work? Yes, Is it so clean I can eat off the floor? No, but neither are any of the other stations. Are there many services available? No. Except for the guy outside with a food cart who sells everything from donuts to hot dogs to cigarettes. The station is not very busy and two lines go through, one to the city and one which moves from Richmond to Fremont. I can go almost anywhere without transferring. I rented my house with the proximity to this station in mind. It takes me where I want to go and I will stand by it until the end. read more

It was my first time using the Bart and a worker there went through the entire process of this Bart-ness: getting the ticket to even showing me where to go to get on the Bart. FREE PARKING! Very few stations have free parking, so I really appreciate that the closest one to me is free of charge. There's parking in the structure and outside, both of which are highly patrolled. Bart's usually always on time, so it's recommended to get to Bart at least 5-10 minutes before it's going to leave. I recommend using the mobile app embark ibart to check bart schedules or go to their main website for real time. It can be a little ghetto, but i've been using bart for over a year now, and as long as you mind your own business, it's not a problem. There will always be some weirdos around, but DO NOT look them in the eye. That's key, i learned that the hard way. Otherwise they will try to talk to you or worse, talk to themselves and look straight at you. Be kind, make sure you get up when there's a senior or a pregnant or disabled person who needs to sit. Last thing you want to do is have everyone on bart look at you like you are a complete a**hole because you weren't willing to give up your seat. DO NOT give someone cash in exchange for a bart ticket. it's not only illegal, but more often than not, it's a scam. Wear comfortable shoes too (if you are taking bart there's a lot of walking involved and/or stair climbing). Sometimes the elevators don't work (you'll hear annoucements if that's the case). LASTLY every person should have BART police's number saved on his or her phone: (510) 464-7000. Use it if you need to. Let's keep Bart safe! read more

I love this BART station because it is less than a mile from our home! It does look like it's still under construction - improvements, maybe? One of the escalators has been out since we moved here. I've never been here during the week, but parking on the weekend is free and the garage is huge! I understand parking during the week used to be free, but now there is a fee (they just removed the 'r'). Haven't yet taken the BART to work, but this would be the place for me to hop on. It will be my first experience taking the BART during 'rush hour', so I'll let you know how it goes. read more

I could drive to other Bart stations, so why do I come here asides from proximity. I mean, the Fremont line is much less frequent later at night and on weekends, so why? I think paid parking is always between 4am-3pm for any station right? However, it's only $1.50 if you do park here. This station is by far the cheapest for parking. The Bay Fair station is marginally farther away but doesn't feel as clean and is twice the price in parking at $3.00. There's also always a police cruiser stationed at the parking structure's exit, so there's always a mild feeling of safety. All public transportation feels the same to me but Hayward station deserves your attention for these points. read more

Bathrooms are disgusting, dark area right outside the entrance, dark parking lot, and the bart app and actual train schedule don't always match. People walk through the turnstiles constantly without paying. Not a cop in sight. There are panhandlers asking me for money almost everytime I come here. Our tax dollars hard at work. read more

The area isn't clean but the piss smell isn't as bad as the Mission Bart stations. Oddly enough, as much as I travel and trek around San Francisco, the first time I witness someone publicly urinate was in the Hayward Bart parking lot. The guy looked around and started wizzing. An older woman and younger woman (a mother and daughter I assume) walked by. Good thing they were absorbed into their conversation because had they looked up, they would have witness this man in all his glory. I never had anyone bother me on the platform. Occasionally, there are some loud people, usually parent(s) with kid(s). You would think it was just the kid(s) being loud but the parent(s) can have their moments too. Sometimes you see the parent, who for some reason, thinks it's ok to yell at their kid(s) with sentences sprinkled with profanity. I rate this station against other Bart stations. It isn't the best but it isn't the worst either, hence the 3 stars. In terms of a public transportation comparison to other parts of the country or the world, BART, in general, is subpar and below the standards it should be living up to. read more

Don't park here overnight for any reason. Your car will get broken into. There's very little police presence at this station so there's not much stopping criminals from doing a number on your car. read more

You're not allowed to park in the monthly spots until after 10am. It was 9:45 and dozens of empty spots but for some reason security wouldn't let me park or even wait there until 10am. I finally just drove back home and took Uber to the city. So ridiculous. If you're planning on parking, get here by 8:30am or you're shit outta luck. One star because I'm still salty over having to pay double for an Uber. read more

Once you're on the platform, it's like any other BART station. Until you get upstairs, expect to be hustled for spare change and watch the pooping pigeons in the rafters. The bathroom is beyond disgusting and I only use when I know that my gerbil bladder cannot hold it until I get home. The big plus is the passenger pick up area. Unlike some stations where you can exit a dozen different ways, there is only one obvious passenger pick up spot. Plenty of parking if you're waiting for someone. Like at all stations, hold on tight to your purse and bags. Be watchful of your surroundings when gabbing on your phone, especially if it's an iPhone. read more

Where I live now (Calgary), we have to brace ourselves in -40ºF blizzards in the outdoors 7 months out of the year; for an electric train that *might* be on its way! The ticket machines only take coins and they don't dispense change! And up until recently, you had to call a hotline to find out what time the next train was on its way. It's BART. Bums, pigeons, and the distinct smell of piss. It happens. Honestly, though, this is one of the only stations in the area where I feel comfortable leaving my car overnight. I've done this more times than I can count and have never had a problem. Park on the bottom of the garage near the BART police spots and you're golden. Try not to have to pee here, though. Not even sure you can rate a BART station. I use this station everyday to head into Oakland for my job. I am usually there during the morning hours and then once again in the late afternoon for returning home. This particular night, I had girlfriends visiting the Bay Area and we were heading into San Francisco to go to North Beach. Wow, talk about a WHOLE DIFFERENT "element" of people when the sun goes down. WOAH! Luckily, had a great big 6'3, 230lb husband with me and that made me feel much more at ease. I would DEFINITELY not recommend hanging in this station as a woman, at night, by yourself. Felt completely unsafe. Had several people approach for money, or make snide comments about our female "parts" and then the looks felt really uncomfortable. GREAT DURING SUN UP. not recommended SUN DOWN. read more

I take Bart to East Bay and the Stop is rather close to campus. It's very clean outside and the shuttle that takes me to campus comes and goes quite frequently. On my way back I usually buy something from the hot dog stand downstairs and those people are rather friendly. read more

The station I grew up with. They have a parking garage that is free and it's been that way since day one. The station isn't the cleanest but I've never had a problem with it. Don't leave valuables in your car - this is pretty much what I'd say for any station really. Buses are always on time but the crowd waiting for the bus is often some rowdy kids. I would recommend for girls or women to wait closer to the station or with a friend. Right down the street there's a plaza with Lucky's, Starbucks, Panda Express, Jamba Juice etc. There are bathrooms here, pretty nasty as you can imagine but better than nothing. read more

Not a lot of weird people here staying around like most Bart stops. I wish there was a Fremont line 24/7 to stop here late night. They just got done upgrading the earthquake faults.
