This lot is often confused with being the Citibank lot or the Kaiser parking lot. It's neither, it's a public parking lot run by the City of Alameda. There's only one driveway to enter, and two driveways to exit. This parking lot is almost always full. It's listed as having 57 parking spaces. No overhead restrictions. But the weird thing about this parking lot is, people use it to access private lots behind businesses. Sometimes I see delivery trucks in the parking lot too. Overall, it's an OK parking lot.

Living in Castro Valley for a couple years now and it amazes me that I still find hidden gems that I have yet to discover. I must admit, Castro Valley is NOT a big community however it does have some hidden spots and this is one of them. Castro Valley Park and Ride used to be peoples favorite place to park during morning commute. Rumor has it that a couple of years ago the 580 Grove Way exit freeway ramp was really close to this park and ride and easy access to commuters to park and ride the bus. However, that is not the case now. The freeway was totally restructured and revamped so the 580 Grove Way exit is not as close to the park and ride and the parking lot doesn't get much attention anymore. Many people do still commute to work and there are commuter buses that still pick up and drop off at the park and ride but the parking lot does fill up to the point that it gets crowded. This parking lot is great for workers who commute to work and want to carpool. Very safe area! Police and ambulance usually come and take their break here. Too bad this park and ride is not as close to the Castro Valley Bart station as I would like for it to be because then commuters could just park for free and walk to the Bart but the walk is a 20 min distance (not sure if everyone is up to that early in the morning). Definitely recommend to park here if you are a commuter and save money rather than parking at Bart (it adds up and becomes very expensive).

The attended (I forgot his name unfortunately) was very helpful. He got his own car to try and jump it, helped me push my car so we could access my battery and stayed in the rain way longer than he needed to in an attempt to help. Sadly the battery was too dead. But that is not the point. It was a really kind thing to do. THANK YOU. The lot has always been safe and I've only not been able to get a spot one time in 4 years. If you download the "pay by phone" app you can save a few minutes and skip the machine lines. Thank you again!

This parking lot has been a lifesaver when I could not find a parking space at West Oakland BART…read morestation (which is always the case unless it's evening hours or the weekend). The price on it recently went up to $7 for all day parking, but they do have an attendant until 6pm and one cannot beat the convenience. Be prepared to pay cash because they do not take anything else. Attendant can provide change. Keep in mind that the spots directly outside of the parking lot is actually part of this parking lot. Do not park there without paying for the lot. Ample and spacious outdoor spaces. I have never seen this parking lot completely full even if I show up later in the morning. The other option is to park on the streets a few blocks around West Oakland BART Station, but I would advise that it's worth it to spend the money and park in this lot because my car has been broken into even on Mandela Parkway. Monthly parking rates are available as well. There is another paid parking lot across from this one that cost $6 all day, but you need to feed exact change into a machine and buy the "space". There's also less spaces in that one. I recommend this lot. It's a staple to a BART station that does not have enough spaces on any given commute day. It takes a few minutes to walk from this parking lot depending on which part of it you parked to the West Oakland BART Station.

I especially like the placement of the Cypress trees between the "windows" of the garage. They add evergreen and are as tall as the building. Very convenient and best place for theater and sushi parking. Clean and also ok to park for the brewery across the street.

I believe the Bank of America is permanently closed, so what's up with their parking lot? There's no meters or pay station, so is it free? There's a sign telling you to send payment to a text address, but it's destination was vague. So I did some research. The former Bank of America parking lot is managed by LAZ Parking. They have an official App for parking at their various locations. You setup an account, your license plate is your car's ID, and you can pay for a space. It's a little pricey for downtown Alameda, like $2.00/hour. So, basically you pay electronically using a smartphone. How's the lot look? Parts look new, other areas are worn and beatup. The whole lot needs to be repaved and striped. The handicapped spaces are wide and well defined. You really need more signage to explain how the payment system works.
