Flash Foods stores are well-dispersed in small cities across Georgia, south of Atlanta. They're about the best convenience stores and gas stations you're going to find out in the country. While they're nowhere near the level of modern-day QuikTrip and RaceTrac stores, they're still satisfactory and get the job done and they sure beat a lot of sketchy gas stations out there. We stopped by this Flash Foods on our way out of Statesboro back to Atlanta. It's on highway 301 which connects to I-16. The gas prices here were equivalent to what I paid at a QuikTrip in metro Atlanta just three days prior, so I'd say the gas prices are reasonable/competitive. The filling station was busy. It has 10 pumps for unleaded fuel and a separate pumping area for diesel fuel (looked to be about 4-5 diesel pumps there). The filling station is open 24/7. They use the same (or similar) model Gilbarco Veeder-Root fuel dispensers as QuikTrip, just a different color palette. Instead of red and black, it's blue and beige. The station was clean and in good-enough condition; not as nice as the new QuikTrips and RaceTracs I like at home, but for Statesboro, it'll do.

I had never been to this store before and I have a hard time finding the seltzer I like. I thought they may sell them so I pulled up to give them a shot. I walked in the entrance and walked back to where seemed to be all the beer and Seltzer. I looked around and unfortunately they did not have what I wanted. So, like any normal person would do, I went to walk out. I walked to the door that I entered only to find it was an entry only and did not open outward. So I walked to find the exit.. it was by the register so I walked down the aisle and went to leave and I was abruptly confronted by this worker. I yelled and screamed at me that I took something. I said excuse me, no Ihaven't. He persisted to yell and tell me to put my bag on the counter . All this is happenejng while multiple customers are standing around. I explained I would not put my bag on the counter but I would open it and go through it with him. I persisted I pull my belongings out of my bag... wallet,keys, perfume, lotion, receipts, etc. The man continued to scream at me to put my bag on the counter and again I told him no and continued pulling every th ing out of my bag as all these customers stared and watched. He then came around the counter and physically grabbed me and my bag and started trying to pull my bag out of my arms. I kept telling him to no and to stop and that I would go through it with him. He just kept yanking and pushing and pulling. While all these customers are witnessing it. He stated he was going to call the cops and i said please do because i have nothing from your store. I was finally able to pull myself and my bag away and immediately turned it upside-down and shook all of my belonging out onto the floor while all the other customers where watching and said clearly I have nothing in my bag and they agreed. The man then said something in a language I didn't understand and walked back around the counter. I then started picking up my things and a very nice lady started helping me. The man then yelled why did i come in and walk right out, and i of course stated because i wanted a certain seltzer and yall didnt sell it so i had no need to stay in the store. I finished picking up my things and instead of calling the cops myself to press assult charges for the scratch marks, i stated i would never be back here and walked myself out of the store and immediately left. Needless to say, this place and that man are horrid and i do mot recommend going there unless you want to be physically assulted. I have never had this happen nor do i expect this to happen to anyone. Thisbis completely unacceptable and if i knew another route to close this establishment, i would. Never again!

I don't know anything about their gas quality and their prices are pretty much in line with the rest of town. I do know they have a beer cave with great selections and an amazing array of fountain drinks - almost as good as the Wawa back home. You can get Coke or Pepsi and there are as many as a half dozen slushie/icee drink options at any given time. You can find some pretty sweet snacks and the lines move fast. They keep the bathrooms clean and the prices reasonable. It's across from a Parker's, which is yet another reason to stop in Chu's.

I have used this gas station for years since moving downtown. I always feel safe here which is t…read morethe case at a lot of other stations around the city. I have always filled up during the day so I can't speak on the safety at night. I love using my points from shopping g at Kroger for discounts on gas. Even when I don't have shopping points they still give me a discount. It really adds up. Especially these days with gas prices. Every once in a while a pump will be out of service but it is always repaired in a timely manner. They just replaced all the key pads. They were getting a little hard to read. I have never gone to the window for anything so I can't speak about the customer service. I have only had to wait one or maybe two times for a pump to open up.
