Went into Ken's IGA. Nice store, upgraded, more selections, etc. But what stuck with me was the cashier. Spoke to her, she mumbled a response. Barely made eye contact during the entire checkout. Please teach your cashiers about customer service being very important, about offering a friendly greeting, about making eye contact with the customer. Makes all the difference, and takes so little time to do. read more

They had a sale on sirloin tip $5.88 lb drove there twice and was told truck didn't come in so instead of wasting gas and money I called on a Monday and was told the sales is over explained and asked since truck wasn't in could I get the sale price ? I was told no. Also I go and buy other things and it never rings up what tge tag under neither says example Alvarados said .99 each I get home I'm charged $1.29 ea this happens a lot and yes I know I could spend money in gas to get it made right it would cost more in gas to and from is my point. I guess I'll have to stand in line and go over every item shouldn't have to. read more

I love their meat counter. It's the best of the grocery stores in my entire area. It's fresh and well priced.

Used to spend at least $300wk (or more) @ this store, for decades. Prices were a bit higher than other stores, convenience to my neighborhood made up for it. Good selection of products/variety, meats were outstanding, great service. Sang their praises to everyone. Haven't been there in several months.... For the past yr or so this has done a total change. The prices started to go up, gradually.. Now they're off the charts. 100% to 200% or more. Selection went down to almost nothing & though theres plenty of store brands & off brands, they now cost what the name brands used to cost. Their produce is often frozen, which leaves it black, mushy, nasty when finally put on the shelf. The meats are tough & questionable at best. Blaming covid is a no-no since they maintained all during that crazy mess. Decided to go to the store on hwy 80 for some bread today & check it out since I haven't been in one of their stores in months. Few pkgs of buns fresh out of the freezer, still frozen. Just walked out. Enough is enough. read more

Always has ample cashiers. They are young, usually high school students. To the other reviewer stating they don't know anything...Let's cut them some slack. I have never purchased anything expired, and meat department keeps everything fresh. For a smaller grocery I feel the prices are extremely fair. They sell some produce from local farms. read more

Great little store. Prices on meat are the best you'll find, and stuff from name brand items to IGA brand are well priced. Staff is friendly, location is awesome (not many close grocery stores) and the selection is good too. It's nice to know that when you shop, even if you're paying a little more than you would at some other stores like Walmart, the money you spend stays (for the most part I would guess) in our community. Perfect down south grocery store in my opinion. read more

I go there because it is the only "grocery" store closest to my house and sometimes you run out of the essentials. They aren't Publix and customer service is zero. They could care less if you shop there or not. Nine times out of ten I have to wait for the cashier to finish a conversation with the other cashier in order to get out of the checkout line. They don't say a word to you. Not even "hi" or "have a nice day". If it wasn't the fact they weren't the only store in town, I wouldn't shop them. It doesn't have a small town southern feel to it. It feels like you are walking into a fish store and are dealing with cold, scaly personalities. Avoid if possible. read more

Horrible!! I can't stand the people that work there they are so rude! For get returning something there EVEN with a receipt! They have the nastiest attitudes about it! NOT TO MENTION they mix there old meet in the middle of the new meet and then sell it! Check the middle next time you buy from there! I encourage that you don't!! I wouldn't even give it to my dogs! CUSTOMER SERVICE, What is that? The employees know nothing about customer service or if they do, they wish not to display it. They are not happy with their management team most likely. They all look unhappy!!! And as far as the Management, the owners are terrible. They both walked right by me and didn't even open their mouths. On numerous occasions the owners were rude. Like I said, I usually don't grab a cart to shop there. I just run in for something quick that I forgot because it's the only grocery store for miles. I try an get all my things from Publix or Kroger. This place needs to shut their doors for good!!!! Not worthy of 1 freaking star for this post. I live three miles from Ken's Guyton IGA and have always been impressed by the cleanliness of the store and the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, this afternoon, I had an experience that gave me heartburn and made me wish there were another grocer nearby. I bought a 2lb bag of store-brand shredded mozarella cheese after noting it priced at $6.99 (along with all the other 2 lb. varieties.) This was a no-brainer since the 8 oz pack was priced at $2.99. When I got to the checkout, the cheese rang up at $8.29 and I asked my cashier ) a pleasant young lady who looked to be about 16 or 17) for a price check. She called for one over the P.A. systerm but after several minutes, with no help in sight, I walked back to the dairy aisle and peeled off the label giving the $6.99 price. My clerk voided the old price then used the sticker to ring up the price advertised on the shelf. She remained calm and pleasant as her customer line backed up then asked for a price void over the P.A.. This time her supervisor (another young lady who looked barely out of high school) appeared from wherever she was hiding during the first request and asked in a very loud and bitchy voice, "who took this price tag off the shelf?" When I told her I did it, she said customers are not allowed to touch the price tags and the $6.99 price was wrong. But nonetheless, she completed the override and huffed back to her hiding place. I found out her name but choose not to personally embarrass her on this forum. I just hope she changes her attitude or finds a job she likes because she obviously hates working at Ken's. I don't write this to condemn Ken or his stores. He runs a good clean operation and I will chalk this up to one bad experience that I don't expect to be repeated. My point in posting this is to urge Ken to revisit his employee training and stress how important it is for his staff to maintain a professional attitude even if they are personally having a bad day. And most importantly, when a clerk calls for a price void, this means a line of customers is being held up for a simple-to-solve problem and there is nothing more valuable today than a customer's time. If you want their money, you have to respect that! read more

I have never had a problem at Ken's. They helped me return everything I needed with a receipt. Every time I buy MEAT it is good and fresh and have NEVER seen them mix it with old meat. The EMPLOYEES are very nice and helpful, as well as the owner. I have seen them work with other customers too and are very respectful. I have only heard one negative comment about Ken's, and I believe if they were rude to you then it was because you were rude to them from the beggining. If you don't like the place then stay out and go to school for your grammar instead. read more

Triple check the advertised price of the product versus the check out price. In the last 10 times I have shopped there they have always overcharged me for certain items. read more
