2023 Update Park Row is still open. I've been there a few times this year, most recently for lunch. We had a chicken BLT wrap and buffalo chicken wrap (not that spicy) and a side of fries. Ordered at the counter and the lady brought our food to the table. Not much of a wait and she was nice. It's a great place for a simple breakfast or lunch. Reasonable prices. And they're still setup for their breakfast buffet. Original review 2/10/2018 Small cafe across from the train station. They're open for breakfast and lunch, and I had breakfast there on a Saturday morning. They have a counter where you place your order, with the menu on boards on the back wall. Looks like a good selection for breakfast and lunch. Pay for your meal at the counter and find a seat, which looks like they have a good number of tables. The person who took our order delivered our food to the table. I had the French toast which was very good (they didn't have the cinnamon bread, which I wanted, but the white bread wasn't just plain ol' Wonder Bread). One interesting let-down... the syrup was a little prepackaged plastic cup. Not fresh Vermont maple syrup like you get all other breakfast places. Wife had a breakfast burrito which she enjoyed, but said the salsa was a little hot for her. You buss your own table when you're done, which is Ok. This spot is one of the better local quick eateries to eat. Portions are awesome, timing is very efficient, and staff is very accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere is clean (recently renovated updates completed). Per my standards, some items are a little pricey (but you can find value in the quality sized portions), so judge for yourself. Menu changes and updates are usually very creative, and delicious! And the best part is you can breakfast anytime (their hours are usually 7am-3pm). During the Pandemic, I was a little disappointed that the mask mandate, I felt, was not followed to the Governor's specifications, but I still felt it was safe enough to eat there and people seem to respect the social distancing guidelines. The owner and staff make sure they treat their customers right, and will do whatever they can to make sure you have the best experience possible! read more

We stopped here randomly on our way from NY to NH while avoiding highways and trying to go off the beaten path. We were pleasantly surprised. The breakfast bowl and the biscuits and gravy were great. Well seasoned with lots of flavor. Nice little spot with a good and big menu. A little small inside (4 booths and 3 tables) but has the old cafe feel with the old black and white photos on the wall. We happened to be in town and we're hungry and we decided to grab some food today. I ordered the steak n cheese with peppers and onions and the French fries. The steak was amazing and hearty with generous helpings of onions, peppers, and cheese. The French fries were quite crispy and delicious. From my perspective as a vegetarian and a jersey girl this spot was more or less a basic diner. The service was good and accommodating for all our requests. Had to ask twice for side order of homefries and toast - but then again it was a rather large order for a group of 9 so perhaps excusable. We all ordered mostly breakfast items - omelettes, pancakes and a grilled cheese. Nothing terribly impressive but I suppose decent food - better than opting for a fast food chain. Horrible Service. Went with a group of friends to eat breakfast. We walk inside and stood there for about 5 mins waiting to be served. Nobody acknowledge us or said anything to us. I'll start with what I liked-- the eggs are fluffy, the breakfast burrito was massive and filling, and the prices were fair. My partner enjoyed his breakfast sandwich, and while I didn't try it, it looked delicious. They also made the food quickly, which was good because I had a train to catch. However... the coffee was awful. It was watery and had the aftertaste of tea. I don't know how you could possibly pass it off as coffee when it is clearly water with a slight hint of tea. Tea La Croix, if you will. I took one sip and threw it out. The breakfast burrito was also all egg. Not a lot of potato or sausage. Couldn't get my mouth around it, and the texture and taste was dominated by egg. I liked that it filled me up, but wish I could have gotten a little more peppers, onion, sausage, or potato to balance out *all that egg*. Id give 3.5 stars if I could. This place isn't deserving of a four, but it is a little better than just a three. Overall, this is a good quick stop if you need something fast before hopping on the train. read more

When we visit family in Vermont we always head the the Ben and Jerry's factory. We were heading to Waterbury early and realized we should probably have a real meal before diving into ice cream. We happened upon this awesome place. Great menu with something for everyone. I ordered oatmeal which you'd think is pretty lame. It was actually really delicious and full of blueberries. Afterwards the kids played happily in the grassy commons area on the playground. On our next trip we stopped in on our way out of town and the kids want to make it a regular stop. read more

My wife and I are visiting from out of town and decided to come here for some dinner takeout. I got the Philly and my wife got a burger. The food almost didn't make it back to the hotel because it smelled so good! Cheesesteak was very flavorful and the perfect size. Same goes for the portion of fries that were included in our meals. The burger was pretty good and a generous portion of bacon was provided. Owners are big fans of football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. We had a delightful conversation about football, fantasy football, and the city of Philadelphia while they were preparing my order. Very down to earth people. read more

Came here looking for a place to fill up after running the Heady Trotter and before the long, 5 hr drive home. Arrived and got a table right away. Staff were friendly. Ordered two different benedicts (Irish & Cheesesteak) along with some OJ and hot coffee. The food was A-OK, hit the spot, but not blow your mind. Both our dishes had overcooked poached eggs, no nice runny yolk. I thought this just might be how they did that here, but I looked to my right and noticed the table next to us had nice runny yolks on their benedict. I still can't believe how many times I have driven through the main drag of Waterbury and never even known that this place existed. I literally thought that there was just that video store, the chinese place and the drugstore in that area. But this place is a hidden gem. The counter is a long L-shape where there are strategically placed mountains of giant cookies for about a $1.50/piece, jars of homemade doggie treats, and chalkboards outlining their sandwiches, breakfast and other tasties. There's a bunch of tables everywhere you look. I was actually really surprised when someone told me that it was just a little cafe type of place and then to find how much seating there actually was. It's a bit more bare than the Red Hen Bakery, but it still has this charm about it: a little rough around the edges, but still very quality and very Vermont. I love french toast and my waitress, though highly recommending the denver omelette, and telling her my intentions for the spinach florentine omelette, she quickly browbeat me into getting the french toast. So much for cutting back on carbs? But I'm not quibbling here. The french toast was fantastic. Fresh-baked (I kid you not) cinnamon swirled bread, with a side of Vermont's own maple syrup (though that's an additional charge). My fiance's omelete was gigantic and came with such large pieces of toast that he thought it was an accident and that I was supposed to get some too. Not so. By the time we left we were both happily stuffed and looking forward to the chocolate chip cookie we picked up to nosh on for later. Note: I'm pretty sure table service is only for earlier in the morning, so if you get there about 10-11ish, head straight for the counter to make sure before sitting down to wait. read more

This place was good for what it was. We originally went to Green Mountain Coffee "cafe" but realized there was no food so we decided to come here. It was a Sunday and crowded and a young girl gave us our menus and took our drink orders. But after that we were confused on whether we would be served or what. So we asked the people next to us and realized it was a 9.99 serve- yourself breakfast buffet day. So of course we did that! The food was ok. It was buffet style so what can you expect. The pancakes were hard and there was a pitcher of syrup at the end of the line so I took some. I now realize it wasn't real syrup and you had to pay a $1 extra for real syrup- fair enough. Then I learned there were free omelets included with the buffet... awesome! So I ordered one. But they forgot about it... if this hadn't been buffet style, I would have said something. But I was already kind of full. Then they had a fruit platter and I was going to get some but the only thing left was brown bananas and they didn't refill the fruit the entire time we were there :/ Regardless, this was a good value spot filled with friendly locals. Conveniently located right off the highway-good spot for a quick breakfast (served all day) or lunch. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. I had a veggie omelet. My regret was ordering it with salsa which is added into the omelet, not served on the side. The taste was good but it was cold in an otherwise hot omelet. My husband had a burger and fries...no complaints. I wouldn't consider this a destination restaurant but it's a good spot for travelers needing a quick bite or locals for a lunch to go during the workday. read more

We are from upstate NewYork and have family in Jericho. We discovered Maxi's a few years ago and make it a point to stop in for their amazing breakfast every time we visit. Great menu, and if you like a Bloody y or Virgin Mary, you'll travel a long way to find a better one. Whenever Im away from home, I'm always trying to find where the locals eat, and its never easy, but Park Row, is definitely that kind of a place, and its fantastic. Its not terribly cute, and definitely not likely to have tourist appeal, and yet it still was a great travel experience, to get to eat like the locals in Vermont. Isnt that the reason to travel in the first place? Its a small, order at the counter place, with some scattered tables-- no luxury here, but the breakfast was as good as any I've ever had, and yards and yards of personality. Bright firm country eggs, thick delicious toast, great potatos, and outrageous sausage. After you can take a walk around a lovely town square with gazebo, picnic tables and just the most relaxed small town feeling you could ask for, or browse the visitors center in the picture perfect train station which also houses a Green Mountain coffee museum where you can get an education about organic products, sustainability, fair trade and good business practices. read more

I happened to be the Waterbury area for lunch with no particular destination in mind so I took out my phone and fired up Yelp for some assistance. Once again I am pleased to report that I was not led astray. Upon first appearance the inside of the Park Row Cafe looks like it could be any old diner. Orders are placed at the counter and then delivered to you at the table. Staff was very helpful and friendly and everything moved like clockwork. Perhaps the only problem I can speak of was trying to decide what to order because the menu board was loaded with options that where calling out to me. As far as the food goes, I can only speak for the Turkey Ruben and delicious fresh french fries that come with it. Every good sandwich starts with quality bread. My Ruben arrived toasted to perfection on two thick slices of deliciousness that obviously didn't originate in a factory somewhere. The sandwich was piled high with turkey, sauerkraut and topped with just the right amount of dressing. Every time I am lucky enough to eat at a place like this I can't help but wonder why so many places fail to measure up. Overall, this is a casual lunch/breakfast spot that is frequented by locals and visitors alike. The food is well above average and I look forward to going back next time I am in town. read more

This is a "go-to" spot for lunch in Waterbury. I had catered lunch from there three days in a row and then actually ate at the restaurant today. The workings of this place at noon time is pretty crazy - stand in line, order off the chalk board, and about 30 seconds later, one of the 7 people working behind the counter has made your sandwich or whatever, and you're on your way. It is pretty impressive actually. And the food is good - I haven't had anything bad from there. It isn't anything amazing, but it is good, and they have a nice variety, it is pretty inexpensive, and what they prepare has good flavor. We ate breakfast here twice, getting omlettes and blueberry pancakes. The omlettes came with toast and home fries. Real maple syrup is $1 extra. This is a casual place where you order at a counter, fill (and refill) your own coffee and water and bus your own table. The breakfasts were okay, not great. The omlettes were nicely filled, but a little greasy. Home fries were unseasoned and consistently undercooked.The pancakes should have stayed on the grill a bit longer. Home made cinnamon toast was thick and good. Coffee was on the weak side. Better to grab a coffee at the Green Mountain Cafe across the street. Both times we we went the place was nearly empty, but we waited a long time for our food. Unclear why. read more

If you're in the Waterbury area, this small, above average deli shouldn't be missed. We stopped by for lunch, and were met by a very friendly staff, fast service, fresh food, and affordable prices. I liked the french fries we got here more than the world famous ones from Al's French Frys [sic] in South Burlington! The turkey sandwich was great, though it could have used a bit more filling. They made up for it with thick cut, fresh bread that makes you wonder why you didn't just order a plate full of toast! I'd definitely order it again or try one of their many hot sandwiches. Lovely place. I enjoyed the layout, decore, and the lady at cash was pleasant and humored my husband's goofy conversation. At cash you order and take a number stand to put on your table. Not mug time passed before our oatmeal and egg omelet came out. Oatmeal was hot and full of raisins and walnuts. My husband enjoyed his eggs and toast. The coffee was also great.
