The price was low, and I only paid 13$. I spent 15$, and the haircut didn't meet my expectations. I guess you get what you paid for. The older woman cut deep on my head's left side, and she didn't notice it after I called. She said she would fix it if I came back, but I don't believe she will improve it. I don't understand how a barber with so many years of everyday experience makes a mistake like this. With all my previous experience with different barbers, they haven't made a mistake cutting too deep on the side of my head. read more

I used to visit the "Park Row Barber Shop" for many years after moving to Salinas in the early 80's. Jim sold it to "Lily" in the 90's as he retired ..... and I continued to visit that shop until 2006 as I moved away. Never a complaint on a great job in the old days...... I just moved out of town and made other arrangements. Today, 16 years later .... I am back .... had a great visit with Lily and she did a GREAT JOB of cutting my hair..... just like in the old days ...... it's definately worth the drive and the time (as I now live far north of town). Business opens nice and early so you can squeeze in a cut before work. The owner was very nice and conversive. The price was on point, especially for the attention to detail she gave. Even took hot cream and did my edges with a razor, then splashed a bit of after shave on. You're supporting local business (circa 1960s), and the building is historic too. Nice to see old school barber shops still doing straight razor clean up work and aftershave/baby powder. First time walking into this spot opened the door and by the time the door had closed behind me I was already in a chair. My haircut came out the way I wanted. As it was only a trim I'm sure this lady has the skills to do it all. She finished my haircut with a straight edge and I know everyone knows what I'm talking about when getting a haircut and having an itchy shirt for the rest of the day she brought out this hand vacuum to get all those pesky fallen hairs off my back. Such a cool little place! Stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by Lily, and sat right down and told her what I wanted. We chatted while she expertly cut my hair. The best part was the hot shaving cream and straight razor around the ears and back of the neck. Such a blast from the past, and a welcome departure from the cookie cutter hair cutting places we've all come to accept. Plus, compared to 95% of the places I've gotten my hair cut, it's CHEAP. Lily is GREAT with kids! My son has been getting his hair cut by Lily since he was 1, she always has a treat in her drawer and a smile on her face. VERY patient with a wiggly one.
