DO NOT BE FOOLED by the photos on the website or the apartment they show you on the tour. This…read moreapartment is the WORST place I have ever lived and the absolute WORST management company I have ever rented from. I should have known I made a mistake when the maintenance man told me what shitty, overpriced apartments these were during the first week of living here. During our conversation he told me that someone had just killed themselves in an apartment that had to be cleaned up and he also told me not to trust anyone in the apartment and that the cops frequented the community. During our time living here I found that to be true when I saw the police here more than 10 times and even once right next door to us when they came to check on our lovely neighbors who did nothing but drink all day, sit outside and scream at each other and smoke cigarettes. Upon moving in to the apartment I found multiple cockroaches, bugs and dust and dirt all over every corner and baseboard. All of the screws inside of the cheap kitchen cabinets were covered in rust. The carpet was obviously not professionally cleaned before we moved in because it still had stains on it as well as hardened nail polish. I spent hours cleaning this place before I felt comfortable moving in our belongings. It took an entire MONTH of living here before we had a working washer and dryer, and after a year the dryer only "works" if you complete the 70 minute cycle two times to dry the clothes. Since we've lived here I've seen multiple cockroaches and at one point we had fleas because management allowed the abandoned apartment next door to become infested with fleas and neglected to take care of it for months after it was abandoned. Our air conditioning broke and it took over a week (yes, in 100 degree heat) before they addressed the issue because management is so disorganized an doesn't know how to communicate with the maintenance team. They said they they would bring a portable air conditioning unit to us and conventionally "forgot" about it for two days. Nice. After three more weeks the air conditioner was finally properly repaired. This is not a non-smoking community and we were basically surrounded by multiple apartments that reeked of smoke and there were tons of children around. Nice. When you aren't smelling cigarette smoke your hallways will smell like dog pee from the people who let their dogs pee wherever they want. The garbage area is constantly overflowing with trash and it smells awful. There are always piles of abandoned furniture sitting by the trash for weeks at a time as well and it's an eye sore. If you want to use the pool be prepared to see a bunch of people who don't even live there that come and park to use the pool and then get back in their cars and drive away. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!!! Spend a little more time looking for another apartment and I guarantee you will find one that you'll feel satisfied spending money on every month.

This place overall is not a good place to live. overpriced and no elevator for getting to 2nd or…read more3rd floor while paying the monthly rent like you do have it still amazes me. I've lived here for almost 5 years now and the first 2 were great! but not after 5 YEARS!! they are setting to crack down on really little stuff. I've had the same very little table with plants outside my place since i moved in here and now I just received a notice saying it needs to be removed off my patio or else they will charge me then they will remove it. That is crazy to me but not as crazy as randomly after 5 years getting a notice on my door stating they will be doing a "yearly amenities check" then putting a note on my door today saying "you have a new pet please pay us pet fees and submit paperwork of vet and shots when I was only taking care of my friends cat for a week while he was away. I see that there are many places available here and I see why who would want to live in a place that is complete overpriced that keeps going up and up every lease! plus now it feels like you are under a microscope with everything you do in our outside your apartment. we will not be resigning our lease here after July and are more than happy to be looking at other places that are ACTUALLY WORTH THE PROCE TAG!!

New management since Hurricane Ian has turned a once pristine quiet beach and wildlife experience…read moreinto an atmosphere of Disneyland and the service of a roadside motel . A very loud pool motor created constant irritating noise , that drowned out sounds of ocean, birds, wind in the palm trees, at the pool , our unit , and all over the complex extending to the beach . Management responses to our numerous frustrating attempts to ask them to fix the motor noise were at first vague and manipulative lies about a plan , and then completely dismissed and denied , with advice at check out to cancel our reservation next year because nothing would actually be done . And rude with eye rolls and lies to my face . There is a stunning view , but with constant noisy workers landscaping, digging, etc, , the constant loud churning motor day and night, management don't seem to understand that simply looking at a view, as if it is a painting, is not why we go to Sanibel Island . It is certainly not why we are willing to pay to stay at their very pricey overpriced beachfront condo ,. Management proclaims they don't go to the beach /pool area , and it shows.

I cannot say enough great stuff about Oceans Reach. It has been my place that renews my sole year…read moreafter year. Plus SHELLS, SHELLS, SHELLS, SHELLS that I cannot get enough of. Oceans Reach has undergone such amazing transformations since we started coming. The grove updates, shuffleboard, the pond, the shelling stations etc. We started out staying in building 1 and then quickly found building 4 which has become our go too. We have introduced a lot of folks to Sanibel and always worry that they will find it as amazing as we do. We have stayed in the following rooms which I have kept some notes on: bldg1 - 1C2; bldg3 - 3A3, 3A2, 3B2; bldg.4 - 4D3, 4D2, 4C2, 4C3, 4C4,4 A4, 4A3 The folks at the front desk are always friendly, happy and ready to talk about the resort and the island life that I so long for. The sustainability program that OR has adopted is also such a great thing to tip your hat at. The recycling and efficiency appliances in the units adds to such a great contribution to our society. Each unit is individually decorated and sometime things are a little light in the unit. But somehow, we survive. I love that I can rent the bikes and umbrellas right there at OR and they are ready for me when I get there. The grounds are always clean, well-manicured, and foliage abounds. The addition of the new front desk with bathrooms is great. The building is always well maintained and the housekeeping, maintenance and ground crew are always nice when I stop and chat. I love being about to cook and look out, through the palm trees and see the ocean. The bldg.. 3 and 4 are usually quiet and the families that are there are respectful of that beauty. In fact I have gone for many years in July and have seen these small children grow up and find the peace and beauty that Sanibel offers. I love sitting on the beach and finding respectful people that don't sit to close or in front of your views. I will continue coming to OR and bringing new folks and repeat folks as much as I can.
