The waiters guided us to how to proceed. It worked out nicely. Then there is the food. OMG!! The eggplant parm - exceptional. The shrimp were HUGE!! Everything was wonderful. It's a BYOB. It's BYOB, so we had a bunch of bottles there, and the staff were great about keeping our drinks filled. They were also great about explaining what each of the dishes were, and there were so many! Everything was delicious - whether pasta, salad, main, dessert. I think I had some kind of beef dish, and it was really good and plentiful. Definitely would not be leaving hungry. One of the guys at dinner with us is from an Italian family, so he knows Italian food well, and he said the food was on point. I definitely agreed. The staff was very friendly as well; another guy on the trip with us went down to the kitchen and took some selfies with them, which was cool. None of us ordered appetizers, but our dinner still took over an hour to arrive. We ordered three steaks, two sides, and one crab cake. What made the wait even more frustrating was that the table next to us, which was seated after us, received their dinner before we did. When we asked about the status of our food, we were told that "good food takes time." At that point, we had already been waiting approximately 30 minutes. Rather than an apology or an indication that the food would be out soon, that was the response we received. We waited another 30 minutes before being told that the food would be out shortly. To their credit, it did come out shortly after that. Unfortunately, all three of us ordered our steaks medium rare, and all three came out medium. We considered sending them back, but after watching another table send a steak back and seeing how long it took to come back out, we decided against it. We watched the man at that table sit there while all of his friends ate their steaks, which made us even less inclined to send ours back. We did order dessert, and interestingly, that came out immediately. To the restaurant's credit, the manager took one round of drinks and the dessert off our bill, which we appreciated. The menu doesn't stray too far into eclectic or new-school cooking concepts, but that's part of the charm. The classic approach fits the restaurant's history and character perfectly. We started with the Kobe sliders and crispy duck leg confit. The Kobe sliders were excellent, though I do have one small note: we expected all three sliders to include the caramelized onion, poivre, and cheese, rather than each slider featuring just one of the listed toppings. Since we ordered them to share and split each one in half, we found the concept a little odd! Great flavor, though. No notes on the crispy duck leg confit! The flavor was rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. We also shared the goat cheese potato au gratin, which was another win. It was easily large enough to share, so my advice is to go easy on the sides, even when dining with a group. There are so many positive reviews that back me up about all that is great about the place, I thought that I might make a few suggestions for areas that could use improvement. First involves parking. They have very little and are using almost half of the space for outside services I don't quite understand. This means dropping off your party and hunting the neighborhood for a place to park. This leads to the second negative. The receptionist is a bit unforgiving if your ENTIRE party is not physically in the house. So if you are out foraging for a place to park you are out of luck. Next there is the bread service. Despite the fact that they are connected with a bakery there is an up charge for bread. This is a small thing, but really unnecessary as prices for the main part of the meal certainly compensate for a few slices of bread. Finally there is the reservation process. It seems like tables are held and not available for the general public. If you use the "notify" feature in RESY, there is a chance that one of these reserved tables will be released. This is annoying at best. All that said this is probably the best restaurant in the area.
