I found a steal on Craigslist and I lived here for 18 months. Built in the 1950s, this apartment complex is pretty new by Capitol Hill standards.
What I loved:
- Rooftop deck. This was what sold me on this place. Combined with being on the apex of Capitol Hill and being a fairly tall building (7 stories), one pretty much has a 360 degree view of the Seattle metropolitan area from here. I love grilling up here in the summer. July 4th is not to be missed--you can see 6 different shows at once!
- Kari. She was the on-site property manager when I was living there and she was awesome. Plus, being on-site meant she was easy to get a hold of.
- Location. Close to all the action, but far enough to be your oasis of serentity. 10 minute walk to lovely Volunteer Park. 10 minute walk to Broadway. 5 minute walk to 15th. Who says North Capitol Hill is boring?
- Parking garage. Every car owner in Seattle knows the drama associated with owning a car in the city. Luckily, this place has a secure underground parking garage at a reasonable price.

What I didn't like:
- The elevator broke down a lot. It was eventually replaced with a new one.
- Heating was controlled by the property manager. Fortunately, Kari lived on premise, so it was generally on when it needed to be. If we're cold, Kari's probably cold too.

They were bought out by Cornell and Associates in Spring 2008 and, ever since, there has been an increasing sense of neglect and wear. I don't even know if the new property manager is on-site! Before I left, a tenant uprising was brewing. read more
