They are very hands on, serving breakfast and covering the reception desk. The other staff are also very friendly and helpful. The inn is filled with a lot of memorabilia and old books. It if fun to look at it all. The nice thing is it is well kept, not dusty or moldy smelling. Lots of old pictures and photos. All the rooms have their own bathroom. Ours was compact but had all the necessaries. The room was comfortable. Like the rest of the inn it had old books and other antiques. The bed had a hand stitched quilt. It was comfortable. The light from the street lamps outside was bright so the room was not dark. I do not know what the rooms on the back were like. The television though small got over 100 channels. The train passed by 2 - 3 times a night so I was glad I had earplugs to help. Breakfast was not included and was $10 per person. It was served family style. Scrambled eggs, waffles and bacon served with juice and coffee. They are located off the Mammoth Cave Railroad trail and within 7 miles of the park. If you are looking for somewhere to stay near Mammoth Caves the Grand Victoria is a great option.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again. At check in they put us on the first floor which is the floor for pets. We love pets, we have pets, we did not travel with pets. The room smelled so bad of stinky, wet dog that our clothes smelled when we changed out of them 45 minutes later. Thick cloying, wet dog smell. We asked for a new room immediately but the desk staff needed the managers approval before switching us. We finally did get switched-- 30 minutes later to a smaller room on a different floor with no price adjustment and no apology. I was happy the room did not smell this time-- BUT-- there were several dead cockroaches in the room. The next morning we asked for the dead roaches to be vacuumed up and then we had to ask again that afternoon. (they did finally vacuum up the roaches) The room was an ADA room and the blinds were broken but it did not smell like dog. Breakfast day one- with 75 minutes left on the breakfast time most all the food was wiped out (eggs, yogurts, milk, oj) and ALL the tables were dirty. It was a busy summer morning with lots of kids running around why would they have not planned for the crowd? Breakfast day two-- much better. Clean and stocked. (and two people working) This was by no means the Hampton Inn we depend on. I will not be back.

I even tried calling the hotel hoping to get someone's attention. We were told that they had to check our ID and get the incidental charge handled and that's why the digital key didn't work. Upon entering our room, we were hit in the face with this smell of a mix of orange glo meets fabuloso and fruit. The smell lingered our entire 2 night stay. Definitely clean though. The bathroom was spacious which was nice and had toilets that could suck down a bath towel -- odd to point that out but weak toilets see to be the norm. As a statuses honors member, was a bit surprised that we weren't at least offered bottles of water. Refrigerator in the room did NOT get cold, it was just barely south of room temp. One morning they had biscuits with breakfast -- those were very nice.

We got a king suite with jacuzzi. The bed was WONDERFULLY comfortable. The jacuzzi was such a treat. The jets worked as they should. Our walk-in shower is awesome. If we come to cave city again, we'll be staying there! Thanks Lena!

They said its…read morebecause I had a pay now and save reservation but why did they not charge it until a month after I made it and a month before staying? I obviously had adequate funds. And why was I not notified? I was a front desk supervisor at a hotel for nine and a half years and it is TERRIBLE customer service to just cancel someone's reservation without telling them. They could have made the situation better by letting me rebook and honoring my original rate but refused leading me to believe the manager is either rude/unaccommodating/lacks basic customer service skills, trained poorly so unable to do a simple fix, or not allowed to make normal management level decisions to fix a problem made by the hotel. Absolutely unacceptable practice and not even a hint of an apology or understanding. The actual front desk worker said he didn't even work at this hotel but was covering because someone didn't show up. He was wearing a hampton or hilton uniform and while he was nice, he wasn't much help. Additionally, the room door had issues latching and locking shut. Had to try multiple times every time we left or returned to make sure it was fully closed because I'd not it could be easily opened without a key. Room itself was ok, some scuffs and stains here and there and a bobby pin left on bathroom floor. Also it has very minimal breakfast (waffles, yogurt, cereal only - no pastries, toast, eggs).

Everything about this place seemed like the owners were being as cheap as possible to squeeze whatever profit they could out of it. When we checked in, the guy INSISTED we pay in cash, even though the booking I made online obviously had me reserve using my credit card. Makes me think he's probably involved with tax evasion. :/ Like, what does it say about your customer service when you force someone to pay cash so you can avoid a debt card fee? Jerkwad. Also possibly homophobic? I reserved a single king for us but again he just decided to give us a room with two beds instead. Like what even? We got one of the rooms upstairs. Be careful if the stairs are wet or damp, they are VERY slippery and you could easily fall and hurt yourself if you aren't careful. The room was really big... pointlessly big, almost like deserted dance hall vibes. Awkwardly it made it more obvious how painfully underfurnished the room was... a tiny sad flatscreen far from the bed, a desk with a folding chair... the mini fridge was set so low that it barely kept things chill let alone cold. The shower was the only okay thing. The A/C unit was functional but spastic once it got to the thermostat setting as it would hum to life only to be on for a minute at most. The bathroom mirror was ludicrously tiny. Of course the towels were small and rough AF. I was willing to give them a try but y'all should avoid this place. Just let it die.

One of those roadside attractions that you really have to experience sometime in your life if you like quirky things. Apparently this is only one of three of these teepee villages left in the country after many more have been torn down. So I made my reservations online and less than a year later, we arrived! Keith and Megan are the owners and Keith greeted us and gave us quite the verbal tour and history. Him and Megan bought it five years ago and they are slowly updating everything to the original 1937 design but also keeping updated amenities in mind too. We stayed in number 10 and even though it has not been restored yet it was still clean and they put work into at least keeping it current until it gets a full restoration. The only complaint I had was there was not a lot of horizontal space to set things down. No nightstands either because it's a very tight space. No table at all in the bathroom either so it was hard to use toiletries. The air conditioner is in the window but eventually there will be a silent mini split installed and I can't wait to see that! The whole playground and fire pit area is completely vintage looking but still maintained. Guests came and went and it was always fun to watch different sets of kids enjoy all of the activities. We had a fire every night and Keith had one or two cats follow him down from his house who joined us and let us give them all the love. This was definitely a great stay and I'm looking forward to doing it again someday but I definitely want to stay in one of the more updated teepees. But they made it clear that anything we needed, we could just ask. Very nice people and you can tell they are really putting some love and TLC into this place. It might take a while to get it back there but they are not just skating by. The big teepee out front that used to be a restaurant and gift shop is going to be a coffee shop someday as well. Excited to see what happens in the future!
