Haleakala Visitor's Center can be found above the Park entrance on the road to the summit. The Ranger on duty will answer any inquiries. Merchandise & bathrooms are available. Drive VERY carefully on this mountain as the roadway is narrow, curvy & the downhill traffic can include large trucks, vans, tour buses, motorcycles & large groups of bicycles. The tallest peak of Haleakalā is 10,023 feet above sea level. Don't overdo it while hiking around at that altitude .. this dormant volcano is the stage for a huge range of landscapes. The views & photo opps speak for themselves.

1 of 3 Visitor Centers in Haleakalā Located above the park entrance at 7000 ft. (2134 m). This was our first stop to get my National Park passport stamped. They placed a small podium outside of the building entrance where it is convenient if that was the only thing you came there for. There is no gift shop inside but there are interesting informational read in a small exhibit hall. It featured displays on the park's natural and cultural history. On duty is a park ranger on-site to help you plan or answer any of your questions. Restrooms are open 24 hours which is accessible from the outside. Visitor Center operating hours: Open 7 days/week 9-4pm with a 12-1pm closure. Not much of a view here. Review #2699

The Headquarters Visitor Center is 1 mile past the summit entrance gate. Park staff can answer questions at the information desk though not every staff working here is friendly, and inside a small exhibit hall features displays on the natural and cultural history of the park.

When you enter into the park from the West side of Maui, this will be the first stop after the gatehouse. I recommend getting out to stretch your legs and check out one of the first glimpses of the amazing scenery. The visitor's center includes some lovely informational displays and images. You'll be able to pick up a free map that will show you where to stop for marked hikes in the park. There's a gift shop where you can buy toys and books. Bathrooms are available around the corner, although the women's bathroom is currently out of order, so you'll have to use the marked portable toilets until it's fixed. Drive carefully and keep your eyes peeled! A few years ago, I got to see a nene that landed on a small patch of grass to the right the of the building. No such luck during my most recent visit, but you never know where they will want to feed.

Either…read moreway it's a fun experience where you meet new faces, learn something new, see cool stuff and have lots of fun. Marilyn is a hoot--so much fun, zest and aloha! She has a big heart and a crazy love for this island. We've lived on Maui for a couple years and she taught us some cool stuff that we didn't know. We hopped in her big van and had a fun tour to: -Ocean Vodka -Surfing Goat Dairy -Ali'i Lavander Farm -Ulupalaku Ranch + Maui wine And along the way she handed out fresh banana bread (that SHE baked!) and cold bottles of water (say what? So thoughtful!) As we drove, she would point out things like: the kinds of trees we were seeing, the history of this or that, how things had changed over the years... Interesting things that kept the conversation flowing. Her van has a microphone for her to use so it's great for people who sit in the back. We could hear everything she was saying. She made sure to open doors for guests and make sure the temperature inside the van was okay for everyone. There are different tours to choose from to hone in on where you want to go and what you want to see. She really knows her stuff and made us smile and laugh with her bubbly personality and energy. She caters to her guests and made us feel like her 'ohana. Thank you so much Marilyn! We had so much fun.

Prior to the pick up, Marilyn was always available via phone if I had questions about planning the logisitics and I found her to be very sweet and kind over the phone. As soon as Marilyn greeted me at the pick up, I knew I was in for a real treat. She has this magnetic energy and passion. She knows how to connect with people and make them feel comfortable. I was traveling alone and joined a group of others wonderful tourists that were part of the tour. Marilyn and Robbie were well versed in their knowledge of the history of the culture, agriculture and plants. The tour included stops at the lovely Lavender garden, Maui winery, and the Surfing Goat Dairy. Their timing was spot. One of the highlights of the tour was the lunch. It was in a lovely park, tucked away in a hillside, overlooking Maui, It was a perfect day. The real treat was when Marilyn pulled out her Ukulele and started singing lovely songs - one of which was "Somewhere over the rainbow". It was delightful. The tour ended with the other tourists departing at the airport. This was not just an ordinary curbside drop-off. Marilyn actually accompanied them to the check in counter and helped them get their bags through. This is not something that an ordinary tour company would do. I remained in the van and chatted with the delightful Robbie. I cannot thank Maui Country Farm Tours for such a memorable experience. It was truly one of the highlights of my trip, and I could not have done the trip alone. Marilyn has contacts and knows the inside scoop on how these various businesses operate. Please consider her tour as an option for you to see the back country of beautiful Maui. You will thank yourself and you will make a friend or two.

Willie consistently provided the history and explanations of the area as we toured. Explorer areas: Willie brought us to a variety of locations. He is respectful of the island and the culture. I've done the Road to Hana tour before, and had a great experience but it was on a bigger tour trip. We had an amazing tour guide that time, but I came this time with my FIANCÉ and his mom who have never been to Hawaii and I was afraid if we got a boring tour guide, it would be a LONG day. I started looking on Yelp in hopes it would help me narrow down the best of the best and that it absolutely did. I saw the raves about Willie and knew it was going to be worth every penny. Willie called me to talk about what we wanted to get out of our trip, and he also checked back in the day before to reiterate details about where to meet, etc. We told him we really wanted to see beautiful waterfalls and some cool secret, less touristy spots. We began our drive and Willie pulled off on this little beach, and said he wanted to show us something. We walked down, and there were sea turtles all over the beach which just made my MIL's day right off the bat. Then we went to the most delicious breakfast spot I have ever been to, hands down. All along the way, he told us about the areas we were driving through, the weather there, and gave us cool little tidbits of information. We went to the Garden of Eden where to my surprise, I got ENGAGED! Willie was so sweet and so happy for us, hugs all around. He truly made that moment, and the whole day really feel like we were with a friend we'd known forever. We went to the most amazing, secret waterfall and got to swim in the swimming hole and jump off rocks with no one else around! This was the absolute most beautiful spot I've ever been in my life and we never would've found it on our own or without Willie. Anyways, we did so much and there are so many details I could share but I would write a book if I shared the entire 11 hour day with you! I won't ruin all the surprises for you, but all I can say is I will never do another tour on Maui without him. Don't hesitate to book, just do it and don't go with any other company. He's truly the best!

We had visited before in 2012 during lavender season, which was lovely, but coming in mid-January there really wasn't much to see. Admission is $5 per person, and there's a café and gift shop on-site for souvenirs. During our previous visit, we really enjoyed the lavender scone and iced tea from the café. The views at the top are still beautiful, but I'd honestly recommend visiting only when lavender is in season to make it worthwhile. Also worth noting: it's quite windy in this part of Maui, and the terrain is very steep, so walking around can be a bit challenging.

I took my parents for their 44th Anniversary and we all love outdoorsy activities so I knew we'd all enjoy this! We were asked to arrive at 10:30 am for the tour and it lasted until 1-1:30 pm. Arrive with good walking shoes, SPF, light sweater and hat (it can get either a little chilly or hot from the direct sunlight), and well hydrated if possible. We were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable tourguide, Kate from Maryland! She shared with us so many facts about the locally grown produce from herbs, vegetables, fruits, to the friendly worms, to compost and facts about the Farm and the hardworking staff! It was interactive because we got to sniff the herbs, taste the locally grown lettuce, carry a chicken (as seen in the photo with my mom), and even pick the Cherry coffee! After the 2 hour tour, the last hour takes you back to this beautiful seating area in a garden like setting for your 4 course lunch! Each course, the chef comes out and shares details of each course. First course was a Medley of Greens grown on the farm with Tangerine vinaigrette. It was a generous portion for our party of 3 and tried to eat it throughout. There was spiraled carrots and radish with julienned snap peas. Second course was Pan Seared Ono (their proteins are all locally sourced) with Mamaki Tea and Lemongrass Rice with Bok Choy, Collared Greens and Cabbage. Third course was my favorite! I'm usually a big fan of fish but the chicken was so savory and that rub was delish! It was an Organic, Cage Free Chicken with Coffee Cherry Citrus rub with Caramelized Coffee Honey Hash of Carrots, Parsnips, Rutabaga and Celery Root. The spread was a Turmeric and Parsnip puree. Last course of dessert was the O'o Freshly Brewed Coffee with Milk and Simple Syrup with a Dessert Platter of Fresh sliced Pineapple, Tangerine and Apple with Homemade Chocolate Truffles.
