The gym is clean with every machine you can think of. I love the fact they have a nurse evaluate you and do a full body scan, with this you can see your progress every 3 months. I took a year off from working out and thought I would give trying a trainer a shot. Boy was I glad I did! I met with Kurt who was very professional he took his time with me, he took time to get to know me and personalize a routine for me. Kurt showed me equipment in the gym I never knew existed, so many new ideas and routines it was great. Kurt made going back to the gym exciting for me again. I left the gym every time excited to go back even though I was sore it's a good kinda sore. Kurt motivates you and cheers you along on some really tough moves but keeps ya going. Fix all the broken equipment at the Downingtown location: ellipticals, no cup holders for the elliptical machines- safety hazard placing water bottles on the floor, ab crunch machine that isn't securely bolted to the floor, and replace knobs for the leg extension machine because the numbers rubbed off. Today I saw 2 ellipticals with "out of order" signs. The elliptical next to those 2 is also out of order. I'm sure there's more. This gym is not kept up with or safe with some of the equipment. Also in the aerobics room, there's too many mats. West Chester LA Fitness never received their order for mats which might be the reason Downingtown has too many. Somebody's got to deliver them to West Chester. Other members have also wanted to just bring them to West Chester but agree that LAF needs to do this.

The "small business" feel is refreshing compared to a large gym where you are treated as just another membership sale. This location does lack a few machines that a large commercial gym would have, but with a little creativity I haven't had a problem. There's definitely enough equipment here to get a solid workout in. Another stair master would be nice, but there is plenty of cardio equipment available. Overall, we are very satisfied with this gym.
