I took a quick trip to Paris and met up with my friend at the airport. She goes to Paris pretty…read moreoften, and knew how to take the bus from the airport, so we decided to take the Roissybus into the city instead of being lazy and getting a cab.
This was a case where laziness should maybe have won the day. With two of us getting €16.60 tickets, we saved like twenty bucks and lost well over an hour between waiting for the bus and getting to our friend's place from the drop-off point with all our stuff.
Maybe time seemed to stretch because of the cold, but we stood at that bus stop for an absurdly long time, I'd guess at least half an hour. It took us a while to get out of the airport and on the road, but once we got going, it's possible we moved as fast as a cab. I did spend the whole ride with my luggage on my lap, but it was otherwise pleasant enough, as I was in good company.
We got stuck in some traffic once we got to Paris and were dropped off somewhere near but not at the planned stop at the opera. It took us a while to get situated, and then we had to deal with the subway.
It all worked out, and I don't regret the experience, but next time, I'll probably give the Roissybus a pass. An extra hour or two in Paris is well worth taxi fare minus €16.60.
