I don't know if you can imagine my joy when I saw the Paris Baguette sign off the main road while heading to the resort. As a Bay Area foodie, that sight instantly made my day. If you know, you know. The pastries here are absolutely worth the detour--and honestly, wherever I see a Paris Baguette, I do pull over. That includes locations I've visited in Northern California, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and even the one here in Charlotte down in Pineville. It's a bit of a drive for me, but when I'm in that area, I always make a point to stop in and pick up a couple of their delicious croissant-donut pastries and marzipan or almond croissants. That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Overall Paris Baguette is a really cute cafe. I love the pastries and the drinks. I also love that the are always having some kind of a deal here which often makes it affordable if you are signed up for their rewards program. The service is also really great and they always have plenty of seating making it a great place to study. The only thing i would note is that most of their drinks are very sweet and you often can't change that because it is premade. I wouldn't recommend the matcha because they mix the powder and sugar together so if you ask for less sweet you're just getting sweet milk. I don't normally sit at cafes or bakeries, but today was an exception, having on waiting for my siblings decision on Mom's birthday cake. I normally like visiting or running my errands here in San Carlos, but parking is a hit or miss if you want to stop by Paris. I probably circled once and found parking like two blocks away, no biggie. I got here a little before 230 p.m. and there was a huge line, which dispersed in a matter of minutes. I ordered a slice of blueberry chiffon cake. It was light and flavorful. I also ordered a cup of green tea and appreciated how the tea bag itself was a satchel. Decent selection of pastries, donuts and soft cakes! I've been to a few Paris Baguette locations and I think this one in San Carlos is the biggest one, having separate seatings for reserved tables and a separate dining area for study groups, etc. What's nice is there is outdoor seating in front of the store, covered by the building's overhang, right in front tof the sidewalk. Unlike most locations, this one has glass walls that you can see who is baking in the back. It's my first time here, but due to my impression today, I would definitely come back and recommend everyone to scope this location out. read more

It's good to have Paris Baguette here, as I used to go there in Korea. When I miss Korean bakery flavors, I visit this location. In particular, their soft strawberry cake is tasty and very similar to the one in Korea. Other items are also fairly tasty. That said, some items feel a bit overpriced. More importantly, it has been uncomfortable to notice flying bugs inside the food display cases each time I visit. I've given a lot of visits (about once a week) and time before drafting this review, but it's so consistently disappointing, that I'm finally writing this out to you all... If you don't want to read all of the details below, my summary is this: - Management only cares about the food and how much of it they sell. - Staff are barely trained and rarely held accountable for anything. - If there is any process for the front counter, it's not obvious that anyone knows any of the process. The food is all beautiful and delicious! If that's all they did, this would be a 5 star review. The food is the only reason I gave it more than one star. If all you need is somewhere to be an in and out transaction, this is a great place. Pick up what you need, pay, and leave. It'll still take forever to pay, though. But, we go in there and deal with the people they employ... So, brace in! The tables are consistently NOT clean. Inside and outside. The trash bins are always overflowing when I'm there. I'm sure they get emptied sometimes though. This consistently causes people to use the recycling for normal trash though. :( There never appears to be someone working the counter who knows what they're doing. No one can find things in the POS, and they don't seem to listen to the order - ever. I'm constantly getting asked for what I just told them. It doesn't seem to matter who's working the register. Everyone seems to be equally responsible for each POS station, warming up food, expediting, and making coffee. They never know who made which coffee... People are jumping over each other to get things done. It's nothing but chaos behind the counter when it's busy. It seems that whoever is managing is just hiring anyone who will show up and barely trains them. If I were to guess, their success metrics are based purely on how many pastries they sell. Because the displays and quality of the food are amazing! But, we like to eat a warm sandwish for breakfast on occassion, and have tried this location so many times... Every single time I ask to eat our pastries there, I get a different way to "enjoy" my meal onsite. Sometimes, it's just given back to me. Sometimes, I get offered to have it warmed up. (Among all of the times I've been there, only ONCE was it warmed up properly. ONCE!) Sometimes, it's given to me on a new tray. Sometimes, the same tray. Sometimes, they throw away my paper topping and just put the warmed food on the tray directly And most recently, they put it into a to-go box. Ugh... Today was a perfect example of all of the issues this location has. (I've never been to another one, and probably won't based on this one.) We arrived to find most of the premade food in the cooler to be sold out. This is common, but I don't fully fault them for that. Those sandwiches are great and could sell out fast. The line was long, but is always it. In my opinion, not due to the place being busy, but because they have no process behind the counter. If they had people directly to assigned to specific tasks, the line would go faster and they'd sell more. But I digress... The person taking my order was only capable of hearing one thing at a time, and each thing he asked me was wrong. For example, we had 4 items. For each one, he called them something else. My cappuccino nearly didn't get run up, but then was almost rung up as a mocha something. Then, the person at the next register went on break at the same time as my order started to get warmed. The person who went on break, came back to the register without his work shirt, and proceeded to order themselves lunch. That's fine I guess, but probably should be done a different way. (I used to be in fast food in one of my earliest jobs. We never were allowed to ring outselves up, much less by jumping in front of customers.) Then... He wanted to warm up his food. He interrupted the person warming up our food and put his in with ours. WITH HIS HANDS!!! Neither one of them actually knows how to cook. Because they didn't increase the time or anything to account for this. Our food came out partially warmed YET AGAIN. I'm tired of telling them about this. We just eat it with sad cold cheese. Then, my person kept telling me my coffee was coming, but I never heard it called out. I was at the counter the entire time, waiting. Finally, he came back to me to ask if I got my coffeee. I said not, and he said he'd make my mocha drink again. I caught him, and he went to make my cappuchino. As he started, another person caught him and told him they made it. He had to confirm and then point it out to me. It was sitting there for who knows how long. Ugh... This is our experience, pretty much every time. read more

My favorite part was when the poor girl serving me said she couldn't give me a second bag for the 3 cakes I got. I felt bad for her because I could tell she wanted to but she could hear her boss in the back of her head saying "don't waste a bag." I did get another bag but I won't be back as clearly this place is cheap and cakes are just ok. Very pretty though. Came across this newly open PB location by chance while waiting for a friend. I was only aware of a San Mateo location opening and so this location came as a surprise to me. This occupies the old Maverick Jacks space & has been remodeled to be open and airy. Lots of outdoor seating and spacious; the inside is brightly lit and very inviting. I am a fan of Paris Baguette and have been since they first opened in the South Bay. I remember having my first cronut (croissant donut) at Paris Baguette nearly 15 years ago. Their pastries are baked fresh daily and taste so good. I like their pastries because they aren't overly sweet and they offer treats for the Asian taste buds--desserts with red beans, black sesame, sweet rice, curry croquette, castella, milk bread, etc. For my visit, I got the coffee bun, cheese tarts, tiramisu tart and castella cake. The coffee bun--not strong in coffee flavor, was soft, chewy and not very sweet. The bun "crust" was lightly crisp, not crumbly; it was a perfect with my latte. I've eaten many coffee buns from other Asian bakeries and PB's is the overall best. Everything is so delicious at PB, you can't go wrong with anything you order. Got their Portuguese tarts whose crust wasn't as flaky as other places and was expensive and needed more vanilla in their custard and their crossant pastry with fruit. This is my favorite bakery for breakfast. The location is perfect for work. I always order the hash brown bread because its delicious! They prepare the bakery before customers arrive in the morning. The service is good and fast. I also like to order the matcha latte, which they make for me. I met one of the cashier who can sign language a little. I am deaf and I can sign language. I always enjoy going into any Paris Baguette location and exploring the baked goods they may have available. This location is decently sized and has a great selection of sweet and savory baked goods along with a nice grab and go section for a quick meal. My son and I visited after a short walk on Laurel shopping. I always love getting their sponge cake and mochi donuts that my son loves. My recommendation would be to get their early so that you can have the greatest number of options to select from. As you go later in the day, things tend to be sold out. Their staff is always refilling the cases with goods, so it is exciting to see they keep things fresh. They have plenty of seating for you to unwind. I've been here twice and it's been a good experience. Take a tray and add whatever pastries you want and then go up to the counter. You can order a coffee and they'll heat up your food if you are eating in their dining room or on the front patio.
